  • It's really funny...if he would have been using a smaller than enormous weight, nobody would have had any problems with his form at all...but since he was lifting, (most likely heavier than these guys squawking about his form could even lift off the ground), then his form is so off that it's not even considered a fly! Grow up guys...perhaps it wasn't the most strict fly ever, but it was far from a strict press, that's for damn sure.

  • @TheHyroi I agree, If it works, go ahead and do it. No problem. Lets just be honest about what it is, thats all. I dont mean to sound picky either. I dont need perfection. If his arms were angled down about 15 degrees I could acknowledge a flye, but this form is just so far off that it has simply become another exercise all together. Go check out a couple videos showing the dumbell "press" then picture that same exercise with the guys hands rotated to neutral, and you will clearly see. Respect.

  • @TheHyroi It has nothing to do with stretching his chest. You can get a great stretch on bench press and other chest exercises. It does however have everything to do with form. This is NOT a "flye" but IS in fact a press with his hands rotated to a neutral grip. Now I'm not saying he is'nt strong but his arms are undeniably perpendicular to the floor and as such classifies this exercise as a PRESS.

  • who gives a damn about 'perfect' form this reminds me of the debate of martial arts and 'perfect form' when every body is unique and has to learn what works for them best to develop/grow/get stronger or in case of martial arts kick ass as quickly and as efficiently as possible lol.

    Honestly i dont do 'perfect' form but i get better results than with 'perfect form' on 'light' weights. I've been growing and continue to grow whooopie do. As long as you are not injuring yourself go for it.

    To get to that level ,be so strong, big ,etc, etc first and foremost you MUST have the genetic predisposition, either respond great to training/nutrition or respond great to drugs(like Flex Wheeler for example).Everything comes second but without the right genetics you'll never achieve it.It sucks but it's true.

    But certainly its a press. His forearm remains almost vertical throughout the whole movement.

    But either way you look at it, whatever you choose to call his technique, the boy is in good shape!

  • One of the trainers at my gym said that you don't need to go below parallel because that can damage your tendons. I think that's why I have so many shoulder problems. I'm amazed though at how easily he handles 125# in each hand.. he's a hoss for sure.
