  • Truly a great movie

  • Many may not realize, but this movie is also a monument for those millions of white people who left Africa or died in the last 50 years all over the continent from Algeria to South Africa. Many became victims of racial hatred that is rising in Africa, it is not fashionable to think about it but it is still going on.

  • Wow, over 70.000 views, 405 likes and 0 dislikes, now thats impressive!

  • One of my all-time favorite scenes. And Im not even that crazy about the movie in its whole. I mean it was good enough. But this scene was heart-shatteringly brilliant. Not over-the-top, played just right

  • The scenery in this movie is epic

  • TIA

  • I cried my eyes out at this! Well done Leo your amazing!!

  • what's sad to me is, and i may be wrong, that unicef isn't all going to the suffering ppl in africa who actually need. i don't know why, but i have this awful feeling that the money goes to the corrupt african gov't. anyone think i may be right?

  • @msharrypotter10 Most of the world's money goes to the wrong people, we just either don't know about it or can't do anything about it

  • Guys not to be rude but stories like this happen often in Africa, but no one supports some of the company's which help Africa in its time of need, Support UNICEF who will provide working facility's, free school meals and more, WHO will help with health issues within Africa, train doctors and stuff, and many more. Support Africa guys.

  • What is wrong with the academy? Where is my gorgeous husbands oscar?!

  • jennifer conolly is so much hotter than kate winslet.

  • Jack. Jack. Wake up Jack.

  • I actually cried more watching this than Titanic... weird.

  • Thumbs up if you cried.

  • Ten times better than Titanic. Hands down.

  • That's a hell of a view to die next too at the end of the video

  • T.I.A people

  • he needs to win an oscar. hes one of the best actors around these days.

  • Anyway that was the best scene in this movie

  • Actually i hate that movie for only one reason...Cuz he died after all what he did i dont think he deserved to die after all the good things he did.i was really upset

  • 0:20 is that the Waterfront? Awesome.

  • i hear you guys mention oscars all the time...WHO REALLY GIVES A FUCK? he is the best actor ever and if someone disagrees ... well..the world needs losers with bad taste!(even though i see 0 dislikes so noone probably disagrees!)

  • @jimmyburke thanks man!

@Crymson1 I went a couple years after the war ended and the devastation is still obvious everywhere, I love this movie for being so real, showing it for how it truly is and was

  • I had just returned from Sierra Leone when this movie was released. I was afraid that it would not do the conflict justice and would make a mockery of it with a silly love story. I was glad to find that the director tried his best to show how brutal and destructive the conflict was, and that the relationship between Maddy and Archer simply added emotional depth to the story rather than being sappy romanticism. Sierra Leone during this time was not a pleasant place. This movie keeps that in mind.

  • This part was so sad, and I'm a guy lol

  • What is the name of the song?!

  • @68blitzen "thought i'd never call" by james newton howard

  • This part of the movie tears me apart every time without fail. Sooooooo sad.

  • poor LEO

I saw a lot of movies with the hero dies but when LEO dies it's the saddest

  • Comment removed

  • @MrVideocritic2011 The movie would not have reflected how Sierra Leone really was back then had Leo lived. This movie was not meant to have a happy ending. And in many ways, Leo's character was an anti-hero. Recall that Archer meant to steal the diamond for himself. There was obviously an inner conflict within him about his past and his present, and, in the end, the good side of him won out.

  • 308 likes no dislikes of course not

  • This is such a powerful scene, great movie, and Leo really deserves an Oscar...

  • I love the music and the whole shit omfg úuuuuhuhuhu

  • leo getting better and better in each of his movie... its unfortunate that still he doesn't won an oscar...

  • this is africa!!

  • Comment removed

  • @2.15 reminds me at someone very special :)

  • Without Newton Howard's music this scene wouldn't be so epic!

  • @SullivanDeeJay if he lived this scene wouldnt be so epic either.

  • @pkjei thats right..

  • After going there, watching this movie is so meaningful and powerful, I love it so much

  • man, i love this film and this scene, everytime i watch it. Its tough to not shead a tear, Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor and I'm really shocked that he hasn't won an oscar yet!! D:

  • @louisNero666 How could he win an oscar? Stellar acting, simple and powerful stories, and a beautiful ending...... these things don't win oscars... to win an oscar you must have a retardedly deep piece of film that subtly critiques the many layers of decadence and interpretations of modern life with a meaningless ending.... or some such shit.

  • @hmg143 Lol fair enough. But he deserves a great award

  • Comment removed

  • This was one of the best movies i've ever seen. And i totally agree with everyone that leo should have got an oscar. He was robbed

  • Fck yea Dany ! You rock.

  • I must be a masochist. I don't know why I'm watching this again, makes me cry every time :< He's my favorite character.

  • Did it even get nominated? If so, which film won in its place?

  • @TAPaulo1

the departed. leo is in that as well.

  • Why in the hell did Leo not get an Oscar for this role!? It was one of the best war dramas of all time!

  • @wakeup528491

he was nominated i think. but it went to forrest whittaker in king of scotland.

  • I spent time in Sierra Leone and this film is as close as you'd want to get to it . . damn-good film though . . too-damn-good . .

  • BRILLANT FILM HIS SHOULD HAVE GOT AN OSCAR JUST FOR HIS ACCENT

  • @72291907 Ja I agree, I'm from South Africa and he did a pretty decent job, props for that.

  • <;-{ <3

  • i hate this part , the best scence would have been when he went home !

  • @Archerpyro No... Then the movie would just be like any other movie. This scene makes the movie special.

  • @TheThingyThings No it sucks =/ i actually wanted to cry :(

  • I watched this in class today. And I cried so hard.

  • This is one of the very few movies I have to god damn cry... Incredible artist that dude. Yet the story is and the content is way more tragic than this

  • i get goosebumps watching this!

  • This scene alone should have won Leo an Oscar. Brilliantly acted, powerfully scripted, and expertly scored, this is an incredible film and hauntingly beautiful movie moment that sticks with you for quite some time. It's one of the most memorable scenes I think I've ever watched, and everything about it is exceptional. I cannot believe this movie got snubbed at the Oscars the way it did. In my opinion, this is Leo's best performance to date (and yes, it even beats The Departed and The Aviator).

  • how is this not oscar worthy?

  • I agree with tgaines23... Oscar worthy... No, deserving.

  • never knew that you could get so emotionally attached to someone picking up sand

  • lovely movie.. the scene always brings tears in my eyes

  • This my favorite movie ever, I have watched it atlesat 5 times. At one one point this movie was the only thing on my Ipod, but it was the only thing i wanted. such a great scene to end such a great movie.

  • such a beautiful scene

  • very nice movie, i always cry so hard ;(

  • @vpq8

  • i'm crying....AGAIN!!!!

  • I don't know why, but sad, sappy scenes like this make me laugh. Call me whatever you want, but somehow I find humor in this.

  • @Kovu427 well bro, you have to go through some stages in life to fell this. for some people this is deep. butas the looks of it you laugh because you are a suburban boy who got every thing going right for him

  • @Kovu427

  • one of my favorite movies of all time..too bad so many people change the song before they upload the scene

  • sorry this song called "Thought I´d never call"

you hear "i can carry you" at the scene, where solomon carry danny on his shoulders.

    i´m german,my english is bad sorry ;)

  • the song called "I can carry you" ;)

my favourite movie ever, Blood Diamond is a perfect film.

and dicaprio is the best male actor on the world!

@tgaines23:you have to be right.it´s unreal that he didn´t win an oscar for this :(

  • he should of lied to her and said he was in Vegas, that would have been funny and sad.

  • I always cry at this scene...

When he says "I'm really happy I met you" I always die... really, I always burst into tears and continue crying even during the end credits...

Perfect ending for a perfect film with awesome performances

  • @TheChubbbhead lolol

  • this is my perfect death-got my eyes watering

  • i cried at this scene

  • @MrStarwarsguy1 I still cry at this scene

  • This is the Oscar Scene of the 21st Century

  • whats the song called

    i really wanna know

  • The redemption is GREAT =') I love this scene

  • This is how I want to die

  • @DinoIsDaManPeriod ok, go find me a blood diamond, then you can call your sister before you die.

  • I crieeeeeeeeeed!!!

  • well the colonel was right he'll never leave Africa

  • FINALLY THE SCENE WITHOUT SOME BULLSHIT MUSIC.. OR SOME GAYY FUCK '

  • i kinda interpret "im exactly where im supposed to be" as- hes done some bad shit in his life and now hes paying the consequences or i guess most people would interpret it as TIA and this is home ? any thoughts?

  • @dionstrezlecki I think he means he was meant to die in Africa. Remember in the middle of the movie, Archer said that the diamond was his "ticket to get off this God forsaken continent." However, maybe this end scene just lets him realize that he fittingly belongs in Africa -- he knows nothing else. But I do like your other opinion. It made me think.

  • 2:51 'This' is where, in my vision, it would go from black & white to color.

  • You are hurt. Are you hurt ? <3

  • 1)It's Thought I'd never call, though London and Soloman Vandy are badass tracks too.

2)This is the best death scene ever

3)It's unreal that he didn't win an oscar for this

  • @tgaines23 dude HOW FUCKING LONG DID YOU THINK ABOUT THAT

  • @Demoliz420 26 minutes

  • @tgaines23 holly wood only gives oscar's to 16 - 25 year old pussies that dont know anything about real movies

  • @sweenkingandwow2 Not really, because the people above 25 usually are remembered by everyone because of their amazing acting. Remembered a lot more than the "16 - 25 year old pussies".
