The CC-150 Polaris only has 2 real configurations which can be mixed together and they are passenger, or freight. The PM always uses the CC-144 Challenger when going nationally or internationally.
@ndvfdff33 Exactly. For those that need a proof, just watch this video ...../watch?v=aFvnuCCGhHs ... (at 2:04, CF-18 squadron leader talks to the returning troops in the Polaris)
Lol, i remember when i went on one of those, a Combi it was ( less cargo more seats in back for passengers) with the air cadets, THE SAME WEEK THE NEW CC-177 came in! A CF-188 flew by us, then we flew at 1500 ft, yeah, low, over the lake to Toronto, did a practice approach to Tor. Island, then flew over niagara falls, Cept the cadet beside me was sicker than a dog (low alt + bad day= BUmpy)
Many canadian soldiers were aboard the Polaris coming back from Afghanistan. CF-18 reach the Polaris over canadian territory escorted it to its base. Soldiers on board were very honnored !
Really nice to see, but I wouldn't want to be those CF-18 pilots. YAWN!!!. I hope they brought an MP3 player or one those portable DVD players from Canadian Tire!!!
hmmmmm, I don't know forsure but Id assume they would occasionaly? maybe? because they're flying in to Trenton first usually anyway Civilian and military
When Canadian Troops return from Afghanistan they are escorted in by two CF-18's out of CFB Baggotville PQ. The CO of 425 Sqn even gives them a welcome home message direct from the cockpit of a Hornet. Welcome home!

@cra139 No sir you are mistaken. In the Canadian Forces, Airforce Pilots fly all the fleets. No such thing as an Army pilot with us.

shortkid97 2 years ago
Does he? 99% of the time I've seen him he's been on an Airbus.
ndvfdff33 2 years ago
And if I recall correct they do not use Airbus for freight anymore. Why would we have to with the C-177. They do PAX and Aerial Fuel Delivery.
ndvfdff33 2 years ago
PM is probably on that plane when it was taken then Go Harper !
kevinM2123 3 years ago
Not necessarily. The hornets will also escort returning troops from overseas when they come into Canadian Airspace. They did it when I came home.

crazygood150 3 years ago
Its used to transport high govt officials such as the Prime Minister of Canada. Similar to Air Force One in the U.S.
b748i 3 years ago
