I use to believe in a pan-Indian identity but such an identity comes at the cost of your own regional culture, language and heritage and only the Hindi speaking belt has to gain. If the north Indians do not behave themselves then they are going to see Kannada, Tamil and Telegu equivalents of Raj Thackeray!

Tamil shares similar cultural history, common words and grammar with Kannadam..Also you need to know that Kannada New Year is an official holiday in TN.
