WHOO my first shiny was a Zigzagoon in Sapphire I also have a Shiny Wurmple Magikarp Kyogre I caught a Shiny Wingull on Iron Island (no chaining) funnily enough it had a Hasty nature and that happens to be my Favorite nature I have also caught a Shiny Staravia (while trying to Chain for a Shiny Pichu) so I don't know if that counts a chaining cuz I was after a shiny Pichu Not Staravia I also caught a Pichu I COULD have caught a Starly but it was that Beginning fight so I couldn't >:(

Not counting the Red Gyarados in HeartGold and SoulSilver, the first one I found was a shiny Machop in Platinum (Happened on my birthday last year while using the PokéRadar) :) Some time after that, I encountered a shiny Geodude in HeartGold (Safari Zone!), but it broke out of the first Safari Ball and ran away. :(

@advocateofpants I know how that feels (the safari zone T.T) but also that beginning fight with the starly in Pearl and diamond the Starly I fought was SHINY but since you don't have Pokeballs at that point I had to knock it out and you can bet I was TICKED off T.T >:( I believe I found a Shiny Geodude too but I believe I found that in Platinum :P

Ironically, after watching this video last night, I went back to my copy of SoulSilver, which I hadn't played since last July, went out onto the water... and my first encounter was a Shiny Goldeen.

And I almost ran from it too, because the shiny color was really close to a regular Goldeen's (orange instead of red). I only stopped when I saw the sparkle, and went "huh?" before deciding to catch first and ask questions later.
