whenever i hear this on the radio it just dont sound right without the bloke in the crowd shouting whoooo, as this is the first version i heard all those years ago.class song.awesome
Talk Talk is the most professional and polished band I can think of. They don't cut any corners. They seem to really enjoy what they do. And with precision. They show a great respect for one another. That's so wonderful to watch. I have nothing but admiration for these men. Love all their music. I doubt we will ever be blessed with such a talent like this again. Good job. Best of the best.
In a word, "prerecorded". Have a listen to the official video - can you hear the difference? I can't. There's a ton of stuff going on that this trio couldn't cover live. Not to take away from the the fact that LWYMI is a superb tune.
Most of Top Of The Pops was prerecorded in those days whether the artist liked it or not. I guess it had to be due to time constraints. Imagine if any of the acts decided to ad lib for ten seconds then the eagerly anticipated number one would be cut short during the credits.
This song helped lift a girl I know out of her benzo induced coma and back to the real world. We aren't here for very long. Don't waste it. Life's what you make it. It is tough to do, but you have to wake up and decide everyday you are going to be happy. And no one can take that from you. My humble opinion.

watching this is so sad. To think I really liked this at the time. How embarrassing. Objectively, his voice is very plain, monotone and unexciting. The music is repetitive and dreadfully eighties, embracing the worst-of, such as fretless bass, those awful guitar breaks and the watered down synth. The lyrics are actually just a load of old homespun wisdom, woven into a song. All I can say is I'm glad the 80s are well gone.
you 're joking...just to annoy the superlatives that some people use here ..right ?
I find this a super song, but I guess I have to give you the observation that almost any song on you/tube has at least one fool exclaiming it is THE BEST SONG EVAH..wooohooo.
yes indeed. The X Factor among others, is part of the dumbing down of music today. Producers don't give a damn these days. Music isn't real now. It has no heart or soul.
god..listen to the shit that the likes of x factor pedal down the throats of the masses and then listen to this...we will never see there likes again.
That´s the 80´s!Wy can the Human good Music today not self only with Hands and Voices..???In the 70´s(Disco),in the 80´s (Pop)! This Sound where never die! This Sound is the Revolution for all up coming next!!!
Fucking classic. Reminds me of the Acapulco nightclub in Halifax back in the day where people would dance to this and then the DJ could throw on Meatloaf or something and nobody would leave the floor. Party on.
I would've loved TOTP over here in the states, instead we had crap like Solid Gold, and every once in a while Dick Clark would have someone decent, but not every week like TOTP, even if it was lip-synched.
Know what you mean B.Daddy..where did the time go? My teenage years were the 80s and suddenly I'm almost 40. Shit what the heck happened to the last 20 odd years...
You are right.I guess they were to some degree, shrouded by the vast amount of great music around at that time.Oasis on the other hand had litle or no competition.I much prefer Talk Talk!
Mark Hollis has nothing to do with the music business any more; there's more chance of The Beatles reformimg, I'm afraid. I'm just glad I saw them several times when they were still around.
The policy on Top of the Pops was to mime to the backing music throughout the 80's, I think the only groups who didn't were New Order, to an extent, and Iron Maiden. I could be wrong there, but I always wondered why those bands got the luxury to play live whilst others didnt. Hmmm....
Wonderful song, back in wonderful times.

This song was underrated and grossly overlooked. I hardly heard it on the radio growing up, although it was used in some commercial.
