  • Wonderful song, back in wonderful times.

  • must just say though, all that wonderful guitar going on and no guitarist.

  • whenever i hear this on the radio it just dont sound right without the bloke in the crowd shouting whoooo, as this is the first version i heard all those years ago.class song.awesome

  • Great Sound.

  • classic

  • The black-haired guitatist is gorgeous.

  • Talk Talk is the most professional and polished band I can think of. They don't cut any corners. They seem to really enjoy what they do. And with precision. They show a great respect for one another. That's so wonderful to watch. I have nothing but admiration for these men. Love all their music. I doubt we will ever be blessed with such a talent like this again. Good job. Best of the best.

  • great music for a pisser

  • This song was, I feel, under appreciated at the time but like all truly great songs has gone on to become a classic!

  • Fucking KILLER song, and so is Such a Shame.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the rock and roll music hall of fame with the fab four the beatles.

  • In a word, "prerecorded". Have a listen to the official video - can you hear the difference? I can't. There's a ton of stuff going on that this trio couldn't cover live. Not to take away from the the fact that LWYMI is a superb tune.

  • Most of Top Of The Pops was prerecorded in those days whether the artist liked it or not. I guess it had to be due to time constraints. Imagine if any of the acts decided to ad lib for ten seconds then the eagerly anticipated number one would be cut short during the credits.

  • this is amazing, but where is the guitar coming from?

  • Absolute class stamped all over this gem. Brilliant with great vocals ,deep bass, electrifiying lead, and great harmonies.

  • Absolutely brilliant! Great band, amazing song. Love it!!!

  • This song was underrated and grossly overlooked. I hardly heard it on the radio growing up, although it was used in some commercial.

  • This song helped lift a girl I know out of her benzo induced coma and back to the real world. We aren't here for very long. Don't waste it. Life's what you make it. It is tough to do, but you have to wake up and decide everyday you are going to be happy. And no one can take that from you. My humble opinion.

  • @casualprimate

benzos are no joke....glad mark hollis helped out

  • talk talk must be good if they can get on gta so TALK TALK ROOLS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't back date it...

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!

  • This song really sticks with you for a while after the very first time you hear it.At least it did to me.AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vice City !

  • thumbs up if you think the pianist/lead singer is tweaking the fuck out while hes singing!

  • I thot it would take a million years to find this song.wow. I'm up. I'm making it. ||||o

  • @obakegadeso

you 're joking...just to annoy the superlatives that some people use here ..right ?

I find this a super song, but I guess I have to give you the observation that almost any song on you/tube has at least one fool exclaiming it is THE BEST SONG EVAH..wooohooo.

  • Yes indeed with the John Lennon look..great song, great lyrics and absolutely ♥ it!!

  • Singer kinda looks like John Lennon right before he was killed.

  • I wish i could write lyrics like that .....

  • love this one!

  • damn this band is getting down

this is what i call music.

  • The whole package, that's what this group had/has!

  • say no more pure brliliance

  • baaaaad skagead lar.

  • Spero in un loro ritorno ! La mancanza è Tanta ! TALK TALK

  • yes indeed. The X Factor among others, is part of the dumbing down of music today. Producers don't give a damn these days. Music isn't real now. It has no heart or soul.

  • By the far one of the most beautiful songs ever...

  • god..listen to the shit that the likes of x factor pedal down the throats of the masses and then listen to this...we will never see there likes again.

  • The best band ever! These guys wrote some great songs, and this one is so philosophical, so haunting and mesmerizing. A classic!

  • One of the best voices in rock!

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • Perhaps the only good thing to come out of the 80s. I still play the Ben Liebrand remix in my car almost daily. It hasnt dated :-)

  • That´s the 80´s!Wy can the Human good Music today not self only with Hands and Voices..???In the 70´s(Disco),in the 80´s (Pop)! This Sound where never die! This Sound is the Revolution for all up coming next!!!

  • GTA- Vice City !!

  • Great song, great video too filmed on Wimbledon Common, I think.

  • 'Music types of today' - watch and learn!

    Just an amazing song.....

  • A truly beautiful song and as Faustus99 said they are incredibly underrated. I never tire of this song especially playing the original vinyl.

  • superb song, superb group. greatly under-rated band. the albums were fantastic.

  • oh yes, AcaB

  • top tune...sang it everytime the cop cun..ts let me out. and its true....they're still on the beat....i'm free as a bird

  • Fucking classic. Reminds me of the Acapulco nightclub in Halifax back in the day where people would dance to this and then the DJ could throw on Meatloaf or something and nobody would leave the floor. Party on.

  • This is a great song, super

  • This is a great group... period !

  • this is a top top tune

  • I never tire of hearing this song, the composition is outstanding. Talk Talk did some amazing stuff. Inspirational too!

  • musical genious !!!!!!

  • This is another great song

  • I would've loved TOTP over here in the states, instead we had crap like Solid Gold, and every once in a while Dick Clark would have someone decent, but not every week like TOTP, even if it was lip-synched.

  • Jesus, I really do feel old. I danced with my first serious love to this song.

  • Know what you mean B.Daddy..where did the time go? My teenage years were the 80s and suddenly I'm almost 40. Shit what the heck happened to the last 20 odd years...

  • Vice City!!! Hey!!! Such an unusual song. Brilliant and innovative!

  • The bass line and piano in this song are two of the best I've ever heard. This group calls to one's inner soul-every song they've done!

  • I feel your hearth i feel your mind ...your voice is wonderfull ...I 'd like to loose myself in your eyes fall il love..

  • Great Stuff.I remember watching this at the time....Christ I feel old!

  • Mark Hollis - best voice on earth - FOREVER!

  • great song

  • the guy at the piano looks so fuckin cool

  • Yeah but while we are swearing , where's the fucking lead guitarist twat?

  • theres only three members

  • Thats Mark Hollis ! ;)

  • Wow dude, there`s a fuck`n monkey on the drums.

  • + FANTASTIC +

  • LOL at the drummer bouncing around and the blond scraggy perms in the front row.

  • OUTSTANDING

  • Brilliant song - remember sitting in front of MTV back in the late 80s just waiting for the "natural" video! Could anyone please upload it..

  • Talk Talks best song, i heard it on Vice City for the first time.

  • Mark Hollis had the Oasis haircut before Oasis themselves!

  • You are right.I guess they were to some degree, shrouded by the vast amount of great music around at that time.Oasis on the other hand had litle or no competition.I much prefer Talk Talk!

  • its lol material looking @ them miming these days

  • I love this track so much , that i had to post another comment....BEAUTIFUL SONG.

  • Absolute classic. I love this song. "LIfe is what you make it" - an important message to all those whingers today (like myself. LOL).

  • It wub better if they were SINGIN!!!! lol

  • This song is just brilliant!!!

  • ALL the 'superlatives,' in, the 'oxford dictionary,' CANNOT describe how good this song is!!!!!!!!

  • @barjumbo1969 Totally

  • love it

  • class choon ☺☺☺

  • One of their best, previous singles good aswell.

  • ..they were at their peak on this album and sadly went off on one soon afterwards..shame.

  • IIRC 30th January 1986 for this one!

  • beauty's naked!!!

  • linz1969- im afraid thats never going to happen.

  • never say never

  • Mark Hollis has nothing to do with the music business any more; there's more chance of The Beatles reformimg, I'm afraid. I'm just glad I saw them several times when they were still around.

  • He retired from the music business back in 1998 and very little has been heard from mark since.

  • i wonder if like almost everyone else this band will ever come out of retirement, even just for half a dozen gigs?

  • Ah, the Eighties... Talk Talk, Mrs Thatcher, The Falklands and Fondue parties!!

  • Best ever lyrics with meaning, Best!!!

  • its voice the best in the my world/.

  • I can't help but wonder if this is lip synched? It sounds exactly like the studio recording.

  • i think it is, if you watch other shows of this song, in Italy for instance, sounds very much the same.

  • The policy on Top of the Pops was to mime to the backing music throughout the 80's, I think the only groups who didn't were New Order, to an extent, and Iron Maiden. I could be wrong there, but I always wondered why those bands got the luxury to play live whilst others didnt. Hmmm....

  • I remember seeing this when it was on TOTP. As a kid I was amazed by the mental drummer. Like Animal off the Muppets

  • Watch him play on Today by Talk Talk.
