  • Mexico city there i'm from :)

  • another overlooked and beautiful song by Mccartney. their are so many on the post Beatle solo Paul albums. After the Beatles broke up, Paul did not let us down with his many great tunes, this is a good example.

  • McCartney and Ram are my favorite albums of Paul's - I think because they're both just him and Linda and are both so raw and pure. I love it. I wish other people at my school liked this music.

  • @bladesofglory12 couldnt agree more! :)

  • wow never heard this before love it!

  • I have this on vinyl, and that piano chord at the beginning is inaudible..

  • I love him and his music. Especially this one is amazing.. Paul is a music genius!

  • How in the world can you not like this song or Paul?

  • @2469jeff This is what I ask myself.I was a kid ,10 years of age and every Saturday I put the radio ,at 3 PM, my radio close to head and listened to the music -And not only Beatles...You don´t know how much Paul suffered when he said the words.Listen to John and "How do you sleep" or George on"Wah Wah".Paul wanted to go on,The rest of the Beatles did not..Another Day was the first single by Paul...mocked by John.Again.listen to "how do you sleep"-

  • the ending of this song is musical ecstacy .. he is quite simply a genius .

  • And to think in 1971 this music was received with lukewarm reviews...

  • @EwaldK We believed that they must be wrong :-)

  • 1:12 is my favorite part! I'm feeling near flying at this moment!)

  • Totally agree..

  • I love this song, specially because i´m from Mexico City

    :D

  • This was my first introduction to Paul McCartney and became a quick convert. Loved his music right away and was amazed to discover later that he had been in another band called the Beatles.

  • Paul dempstrate us that everybody can write a beautiful song!

  • When this album came out believe it or not, everyone was comparing Paul's work to that which he did in The Beatles and as I remember, this album got slammed critically. I didn't like it and not til Band on the Run did I nor the critics change our thoughts about the quality of his work on his own. In retrospect, this was quite a song and quite an album. It was Paul and man could he write a song! Much less arrange and record and produce an album. The critics and I were not fair in our first opine.

  • @chuckles9605 it is funny how we used to care what someone else would say or write about an album i for one loved the album i was 13 but i have done that with other albums myself and then one day i say hey this is good well have a safe year and enjoy Ram

  • This song is too beautiful! I can't stop listening to it!

PAUL WHY ARE YOU SO AMAZING.

  • @MetalHead7250 Because he was made to be a musical king a great composer so a BEATLES. I like too Bluebird...1985...Backseat of my car...Dear friend...Tomorrow...

  • @Marthamydear2011 yes me too

    Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey

is amazing song so original. In Paul's head there are so many musics ! he's a musical magician

  • So beautiful! What an awesome song~

  • 11 people were wrong

  • i love it

  • now listen to "monkberry moon delight" and discover the not so softer side of mac!

  • WE BELIEVE WE CAN'T BE WRONG! WE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN'T BE WRONG! WE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN'T BE WRONG! WE ARE NOT WRONG, WE ARE RIGHT! ROCK'N ROLL WILL NEVER DIE! :)

  • ¡MEXICO CITY! lml

  • @ery1958 what other stuff was out there back then thats worth a listen to now

  • @sowutsurpoint anything Beatles early rolling stones bad finger and many more

  • bloody hell what a song !!!!!

  • 2:03 i get goosebumps. Paul McCartney is a musical genius!

  • @sallyg270 Magic of his music: rock + classic symphony Listen to Abbey road side II Paul is Mozart of the popular music of 20th century. Let it be

  • @Marthamydear2011 Ive listened to abbey road. my mum bought me the record last week :D

  • @sallyg270 Let's all get up and danse to a song, That was a hit before...Your mother should know...5Magical mystery tour, a song signed by Paul). Kiss from Paris

  • @Marthamydear2011 I've got the Magical Mystery Tour record as well.. :D

  • @sallyg270 Abby Road, what a great thing for Mum to do. Mine too. Back in 1970. Bless her soul.

  • @Marthamydear2011 Great comment. I totally agree!

  • End to a great album. I don't know what happened to his other albums though :\

  • WISH HE'D SING THIS ON TOUR! DO IT PAUL!

  • For me, this is the best post-Beatles McCartney song taken from the best post-Beatles McCartney album !

  • I was in basic training at Ft. Polk, LA when this album came out, I heard it played on the radio and could'nt get the songs out of my head............this helped me get through basic training.

  • Paul McCartney congratulations, you are now my role model.

  • @GouledXD welcome to the club.

  • Paul is a musical genius. 'nuff said.

  • GREAT MAKE OUT SONG!

  • Can you imagine this as a Beatles track, with John and George on backing vocals, produced by George Martin? It could have been, Paul wrote some of this song in India in 1968 and was working on it during the Let It Be/Get Back sessions in early 1969. He didn't finish it then and put it aside until the Ram sessions in late 1970-early 1971.

  • @observer9670 Wow, never knew this! Thank you brother.

  • what a genius he is ♥

  • lol all the crazy vocals at the end. paul's adorable. :P

  • Letosvet Dead on.

  • This album is just as good as Abbey Road.

  • Saying that Ram is underrated is such an understatement that it could almost be called stupidity. The correct term would be "unknown" or "forgotten". The songs of this album have outrageously little views on youtube and to most idiots, ram was a bad album (like wtf???). Ram was the only beatle-worthy album any of the 4 has produced after the break-up. Band on the Run was Paul-worthy, ram was beatle-worthy. Neither John, nor George did anything that could match the beatles. Paul did. Once.

  • LOVE the vocals at 2:26 they're awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe his best singing, his best scream! My fave solo Paul, tears every time, and I'm a 60+ macho man.

  • this is very romantic with a lot of feeling not as these times where people already forget it

  • @3:43 - 4:03 might be the greatest 20 seconds in recorded music. Well for me it is. I heard an interview with Lennon where he sang the words "ah I believe that you can be wrong" to this melody.

  • Its just song, right? But it is also excellent. Paul still with mustard on his wiener, giving us this. If you can write something better, then show it (haha), or shut the fuck up in the name of holy Jesus.

  • who is funny here? U dont write something like this to "prove" something to anyone, it is done with Paul McCartneys shere talent and shere heart, Does anyone really bealives that this man feel an urge to "prove" something to "brian w". I assume u mean Brian Wilson in Beach Boys, who would blush in embaressment being mentioned from a demented guy like u

  • Why have I never heard this on the radio?

  • One of my all time favourites, kin loved it since I first bought the album a million years ago.

  • great song fun yea fun; paul loved to write and sing post beatles. for all the lennon freakes , let it be nobody was perfect in the smokey 70;s linda and paul did quite

well togeather, hell only one pot bust the kids turned out ok not bad sir and o yea

keep on rocking peace and love .

  • riding to Tahoe in 1971....to start a new life....sigh!

  • @lehman527 great comment! i can feel 1971 in this song.

  • ラム大好き

  • Sounds like Paul really wanted to be a Beach Boy

  • @davey1272250 Paul liked and admired Brian's melodies as do I, but Mr. M has traveled WAY beyond Mr. W.'s realm.

  • @bnutdude i'm also a die-hard mcartney fan, but i think brian wilson was alot closer to sir paul's talent than many give him credit for.

Brian did most of the writing for the beach boys and he did most of the arranging and producing and he did it alone. Paul had john and george martin.Even sir paul tipped his hat to brian.

  • @aknowneemus Yeah, Brian was all alone. So it was harder for him.

  • Mijito rico!

  • @Mrwilwak I am The Great One, I am The Great One, You are an asshole, Goo Goo J'Goob

  • There's a picture of Lennon holding the ears of a pig, like McCartney is holding the horn's of a ram on the cover of this album. Perhaps it was a slight to McCartney or maybe it was in jest, but I don't think Lennon hated this album. I believe that years later he admitted to being jealous of McCartney's commercial success right after the Beatles breakup. Perhaps Lennon felt threatened by the songwriting abilitiy of McCartney (and Dylan), but on a good day he could write circles around them both.

  • Its, Good to read all these Positive comments On RAM , now, cause when it came out ;The Critics tore it and Him apart. He ,left them in the Dust ,before they got their little pens in ink...

  • when it says the line "sitting in the backseat of.." it reminds me of in rocky racoon, where it goes, "gideon's bible"

  • ポール・マッカートニー"RAM"、LASTを飾る"BACK SEAT OF MY CAR"~当時不評だったがいつでも引っ張り出してしょっちゅう聴いた!~最高ポール

  • One of Paul's most underated songs. Slightly wanders off here and there, but that is easily forgiven when hearing Macca's pure melodies within the song - total genious. More respect should be given to Macca after The Beatles. It's not all great....but, my God, the guy was still, in my eyes, the worlds greatest songwriter.

  • I had forgotten this song long ago. Forgotten just how very good it is. This 'Thrillington' certainly sounds worth a look!

  • Why didn't John, George, and Ringo like this album?

  • @RylandoMusic I don't know that John, George or Ringo ever mentioned not liking this album. Do you have quotes?

  • @dbeatlefreak I don't have any direct quotes offhand. But John hated the album. George didn't like it. And Ringo said something about Paul being able to write much better. Trust me. They didn't like the album.

  • A beautiful song, which contributes to making Ram the best Paul McCartney album ever.

  • Hmmhmm! 1:13

The effect this man has with that voice of his....

    Beautiful....

  • So here I'm listening to it on iTunes, 1:05 comes on, I'm doing my homework, being happy, then BAM. 1:13. My heart nearly slammed against my ribcage. If a guy my age could serenade me with such...such...whatever you'd call that, I'd reconsider my policy of no dating.

  • @CookieRocksTheWorld I am completely obsessed with the little melody there! I've been whistling it for days!

  • @CookieRocksTheWorld

Love will tip you off your center. :-)

  • well done paul very well done i saw him when he went to arizona in 2010! best concert ever!

  • Even though John is my fave this is the best post BEATLES album! by farr then 2nd I'd say Harrison's All things must pass! then 3rd the first Lennon album, the Plastic ono band!

  • Seriously people, this vinyl is really easy to find these days at the ridiculously low price of around $3 and it's some of Macca's best. Find it, play it, love it!

  • @meanlittlemonkey -ok, yes, i will find it, i will play it, and i will love it, and it will all be spontaneous because

you saId so. it will cost me 3 bucks because you said so. seriously, meanlittlemonkey- do you think reality follows the dictates of your personal tastes? WHY should we slavishly follow your musical orders? paul mcCartney's music is brilliant enough to attract listeners, without your condescending twisted attitude!

'SERIOUSLY PEOPLE" you say! wow, how sickenly unimpressive.

  • one of the best songs

  • I can't stop listening to this song since I heard it like 2 weeks ago! I love it! Genius, Paul!

  • Is there an Orchestral version of this song? I'd love to find out.

  • @EHLOCALz Go check an album called "Thrillington" (1977). It's McCartney under a pseudonym. It's his orchestral version of the entire RAM album. Worth a look into if you're of the diehard McCartney fandom like me :)

  • @MiddSouthFootball09 YES! Thankyou soo much I can't tell you how thankful I am for this comment! and yes I am such a diehard fan of him

  • HE LOOKED STONED:)

  • How could I of looked passed this song? WTF was I thinking?!

  • I love the Brian Wilson vibes in some of the chords on this track. Always lifts me up.

  • I LOVE HIM I LOVE THIS SONG I LOVE THE ALBUM I LOVE IT ALL!!!!!

  • This album shares many of the ingredients that made the Beatles the greatest band of all time.Paul McCartney has an ability in his writing to tread the fine line between profound simplicity and triteness. Most of the time he manages the former, but occasionally, tunes like Mull of Kintyre stray into the latter. It still managed to sell in huge numbers though!

  • check out my review in the video responses!

  • NOP, EL NO NUNCA HA ESTADO MUERTO, C-H-I-N-G-O-N!!!,

     IN THE MEXICO CITY

  • @ter521fan I couldn't disagree with you more on the filler viewpoint as it relates to RAM. I don't see that any of the songs on this album could be described with that moniker.

  • This takes me back to the Summer of 2008. Man it was great, me and her would stay out late...just sittin' in the back seat of my car.

  • Saw Wings in concert 1976. First concert I ever went to. I was 21. It was WAY beyond my wildest dreams. I was hyper just reading the ticket on the morning it arrived. No online booking back then. I have seen Macca several times since but NOTHING compares to that first time. The cost of the ticket? £3.50.

  • @wanderer1955 Me too! I was 21 and saw him in Atlanta, GA! Such memories (got high on second-hand pot smoke!)

  • A work of art. Love it.

  • WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN'T BE WRONG send chills up my spine every time

  • @lennonplastionoband That part came on as I was scolling down and I still had chills/goosebumps as I read your post

  • @hexcane yea yea yea yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa who who who woooooooooo wooooo wooooooooooooooooo lil mama oooooo

  • I love everything about this, even when he slips in a little spoken "yeah", its just perfect.

  • Nobody screams like Paul, except maybe John. This song is unbelievable, true genius.

  • Es un honor para nosotros los fans mexicanos que Sir Paul mencione la Ciudad de México en una canción tan especial

  • A 'forgotten' classic--difficult to play live, and Paul's falsetto isn't what it once was--but it would be cool if he were to incorporate this into his contemporary live set. Of course there's a hundred or so other candidates--this is a guy who could play a unique, utterly classic, live set for each day of the week, without a single cover song. But his Foxy Lady snippet is so cool that a week of cover songs would also be GREAT.

  • This is my all time favourite song - I can listen to it no matter how sad or happy I am....

Only Paul can do that with music!!

  • Love love love love!

  • Paul McCartney/The Back Seat Of My Car

    いかにも、天才ポールらしい、強引な展開のバラード。ソロでも、超一流の証。

  • McCartney practically walks on water.... Zbest!!

  • McCartney is the best, he rocks and can sing. Who is around today who can sing ang be as creative as him ?

    Rob Barry

  • Paul McCartney rocks and Justin Bieber, well let's just say

Paul's been and still is famous for over 40 years and counting and Justin...15 minutes AGO.

    LOL!

  • The entire Ram album sounds like it was written by Harry Nillsson.....

Paul and Harry would have been awesome together.

  • vocals are so great!!

9 motherfuckers Bieber fans dislike this!

  • It seems to me that in the album "ram' paul is concentrating a lot more on excercising his vocal talent.

  • ...so who's in the driver's seat ??

  • @TheLiberalMajority Mal Evans. LOL

  • Love this era of McCartney Bowl of cherryies, Ram, RedRose Speedway,

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Yeah who knows...

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I can understand what your saying and I'm not disrespecting it but whos in the backseat? I just heard its John and Yoko in the backseat and "Honey I want it my way" is what John is saying to Yoko. I could be wrong but its jsut what I heard. And also "We believe we cant be wrong" was John and Yokos attitude...

  • @The2ndCitySaint Paul would be the last one to admit he had any similarities left with John or the others at this time period. "we believe we cant be wrong' was what Paul was saying about himself and Linda and his decisions at the time such as forming his own band and being different than the other 3 such as wanting Lee Eastman as the Apple financial manager. I think Paul meant it about himself, but didnt realize or want to admit all 4 felt they were the only 'right' ones. Who knows?

  • @QueenBeatlesWings I can understand what your saying and I'm not disrespecting it but whos in the backseat? I just heard its John and Yoko in the backseat and "Honey I want it my way" is what John is saying to Yoko. I could be wrong but its jsut what I heard.

  • "We believe we can't be wrong" - genius, unsurpassed genius - I have loved this song since the very first day I bought the album 40 years ago and it still turns me tears - who can write a song like this apart from the great Macca?

  • We believe we can't be wrong...

    I love you Paul.

  • brilliant

  • Its about John,right?

  • @The2ndCitySaint MMM WHY?

  • @The2ndCitySaint I doubt it. This was the time period where it was Paul and Linda and their family in Scotland on their farm. They enjoyed driving around the countryside where Linda always encouraged Paul to "get lost", basically take a different road, go have an adventure and relax which inspired Paul's Beatles song "Two of Us" also

  • Might have been one of Paul's greatest songs ever....

  • Wow. Never heard the released version of this song. I only knew it from the Let It Be session recordings. o3o

  • @Matrix803 If this would have been released on Let It Be, it would have changed the whole dynamic of the album and perhaps George and John would have stretched out with some of their "different" music. Instead of their "safe," self-styling songs.

  • @Matrix803 there's 1 version on Ram and one version on the 2 disc compilation album "Wingspan: Hits and History"

  • This one is so special for me it looks like Paul were writing it from my life. and in addition IT talks about MEXICO CITY . where I am.

  • @superquintero999 Yeah men, VIVA MEXICO CITY JAJA.

  • One of my favs!!!!!!!

  • Songwriting genius.

  • Great song! Thanks for putting it up.

  • 1 minute 13 seconds = ocean waves?

  • @saclrpfrl10 Not too much Brian Wilson influence going on here is there?

  • For me, RAM is the greatest album by a singer songwriter ever.

The reason is the variety. No one can create the quality and variety Macca did on RAM. Rockers, ballads, oddballs and epics it has it all. Its a complete record. LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • Will may end up in México City!!!! n_n

  • @xochiquetzalli1 ... "siting in the back sit of mi car.."

  • great composer

  • Paul wrote the basis for this song in India in 1968. It was supposed to be a Beatles track but he never could finish it and by then John wasn't helping him anymore. So he dropped it, only to resurrect and finally finish it for Ram. Back Seat was a hit single in the U.K. and Europe, but was never released as a single in the U.S.

  • RAM drove John absolutely CRAZY !! So he created his Imagine album in response, which in total still doen't stand up to Paul's RAM album. Every cut on RAM cuts right to the bone. The drums, guitar, orchestral arrangements, SUPERB !!

  • @gaspo218: Absolutely agree with you. Ram is McCartney's masterpiece. Critics didn't understand it when it was released. But what's cool is that in recent years, young people have come round to this record. The old critics were so busy worshiping Lennon, they couldn't hear what was so incredible about this record. The Ram reissue is coming out in 2011. I can't wait.

  • @gaspo218 While "Ram" does have some wonderful songs on it, I have to disagree with you about Lennon's "Imagine" album. I happen to think that "Imagine" is a Lennon album that consistently hits the mark. I've listened to both "Ram" and "Imagine" many times and I honestly think that "Ram" has more filler material on it than "Imagine." All in the ear of the beholder, I guess.

  • paul es el mejor de todos los beatles !!!!!!!

  • Tune.

  • Love this song and this Album Very underated!

  • The stupidest thing John and Paul ever did was break up the Beatles. How childish! And over what? Over immature insults! Imagine Paul's feelings when he heard that John was shot and he realized there would never be any Beatles ever again. I know he sat in a dark room.

  • @54markl No he said it was a drag
