  • Please share if you know anyone these days doing anything as awesome as this.

  • 5:20 show me how to rap

  • extraordinary performance...& clearly one of us is deaf...

  • Love...love...love...

  • TYVM for this - none of these fancy acapella groups singing today can touch these guys!

  • I heard a recording of them singing "Blind Barnabus" and wondered if anyone has it on a post. can only find an intro portion featured in a movie segment. Found it very moving and always remember the emotion of the performance. Wonderful group. Heard them frist on program "Blues Before Sunrise"

  • Thank you for the post. This group was one of my dad's favorite. I understand they are still doing it and living in France. Was recently inducted into the GMA "Hall of Fame".

  • The sound quality of this version of early songs is totally amazing!

Not to speak of how good the quartet is of course.

  • Grupo muy influyente para las armonìas del Doo Wop de los años 50 y 60

  • They could sing!!!

  • If they had music like this at the church my parents forced me to attend every Sunday I would have willingly gone. The GGQ are incredible.

  • Saw this quartet at the Paramount Theater in 1943.with the main act of the show being The Harry James Band with the young Frank Sinatra making the girls crazy...Cut school at Abe Lincoln High to get to see them.... Lots of personnell changes in the quartet over the years but I can't hear that they've lost much...What a show for 35 cent admission....Can't remember the film but we stayed for three shows....Coney Island Baby

  • Is this really A Cappella?! Incredible...

  • Found it because of OSU's history of rock class..

  • THIS IS REAL MUSIC !!!!!!

  • @LittleFrenchy83

dude, real music was always the one which pleased the largest part of people at the moment.... in 40 it was gospel, after there were rock an other stuff.... music always moving ! but i agree, most of today's music sounds like shit

    'xcuse my english

  • This is the golden gate as they were ment to be.

    no instruments just voices.

    thats enough.

  • I grew up on these songs.

  • ♥ .

  • I'LL BE 83 ON 27 SEPTEMBER,2010 !!! THE GGQ BRING BACK BOYHOOD MEMORIES !! I LOVED THEM THEN AND I LOVE THEM NOW, THEY ARE GREAT.. NOW I NEED TO HEAR SOME OF THE DEEP RIVER BOYS !!!! I THABNK YOU FOR THE GOLDEN GATE QUARTET !!!!! GREAT MUSIC.. GOOD FOR THE SOUL !!

  • Who can help me understand what they are saying?

  • Wonderful gospel music.

  • i remember my granddad used to play these guyz when i was a kid (and im only 32 ths year but i used to love them

  • I love it!!! :)

  • They seem to be somehow inspired by the Mills Brothers.

  • The other way around.

  • @dancingwithfrogs but They seem to be a bit more gospel...

  • Much more gospel! You´re right :-)

  • But they can't even tuch the Mills' "instruments" :D :) But yes their sound, kind of muted trompet, is great too :)

  • Yeah, the Mill´s "instruments" are unique, but the GGQ has the better voices :-)

  • That's true :) Thanks for caravan... It is great tune,... I play it on Trombone :)

  • The "Jubilee" sound og the Golden Gate Quartet is unmatched. Truly magnificent!

  • goood ...what else?

  • Heavenly

  • It's amazing that he is doing this with his hand. No music is involved. I use to listen to my mother do this song.

  • these ggq singers sound so beautiful, not because they are singing from their hearts, but because they are singing from deep within their souls.... their vocal harmonics are truly meaningful and soulful.. I absolutley love ggq!!!

  • A very enjoyable classic song!!! Sanedra

  • @Asaph061108 wotta coincidence! A synchronicity! I was just now playing "Blind Barnabus" ("Old Blind Barney" I thought it was) and went to YouTube to see if I could find a live video of these guys singing & saw your comment. I found Barnabus on eMusic, cost me .49 cents. And BTW Stuart Rosenburg's "Blues Before Sunrise" is a treasure. i thought I knew R&B & blues and black gospel until I heard this show; it makes me like a beginner (great feeling).
