  • "We've got our own manifesto - we're kind to queers, I'm oh so glad the revolution's here ITS NICE AND WARM NOW!"

  • @ImpliedBodyMan That "Its nice and warm now" lyric... at 1.22

I always thought it was... "Smash down the wall now'.

I've checked the net and it says everywhere "nice & warm etc", but it makes more sense to me with the "wall smashing" business after the "revolutions here" line.

Thoughts anyone???? Could be my cloth ears.

  • @APublicDomain Nope it's defo it's nice and warm now

  • Must be one of my all time best JAM tune. Brings back memories of my youth days

  • 2:00 - 2:10 is very similar to Beach Baby by First Class.

  • I´m German, although I live in Mexico right now. In the ealrly 80s I was one of tthe three Jams fans in my home town: Hamm (North Rhine Westfalia). My mates would love at me, take the micky out of me for loving "such a peculiar band". I still can't understand why people were so dumb in those days....

  • people are still stupid like that today...

  • fucking totally love them

  • people,i said THE bollocks not bollocks

  • where have you been for the last 2 years?? rick and bruce have reformed with the name From The Jam google it and you will reveal all :)

  • I didnt know, thanks for the heads up, Last i seen Rick was a furniture restorer working from his garage, His original drumkit was stacked against the wall covered in leaves...

  • these 3 men = the bollocks!

  • defo!, i put a thumbs up for tht comment, i think the people who put thumbs down read that wrong

  • I was back in Aberdeen, Scotland and 15 years old when they broke. Now I live in California, and it still sends shivers down my spine when I hear them. Takes me back to the best days of my life........the mini mod revival of the early 80's, 3 button blazers, stay pressed pants, bowling shoes, and fishtail parkas!

  • paul weller is bloody stellar!

  • Nice Vid, great song, but....bout as live as a Britney gig!

  • Yeah I got that vibe too. Still, one of my fav' Jam songs.

  • wELLER 18

  • Takes me back to my local youth centre days!! Good times

  • arent all of us bloody spaceman

  • still the mutts nuts

  • When I was 15 at school,I was asked what did I think I would b doing in 10 yrs time, clueless,I said I hoped I would still b listening to the Jam.

  • And i bet u still are LOL, still the best band ever though

  • First record i ever bought.Still sends a shiver down my spine when i hear it today.Bloody brilliant.

  • Paul Weller was a kinda of a God to me when I was a teenager.

    I luv The Jam!

  • Same !!!! the modfather

  • I'm really a spaceman from those Ufos !

  • Awesome

  • this song is the best and al it took were three talented chaps.

  • Now that's a rock band.

  • 'I really a spaceman from a UFO'

    Classic.

  • Miming on TOTP? I think Weller is chewing gum. Brilliant.

  • Their best by far, Weller is effin gorgeous, effin cool & should be effin shot for breaking up the best band of 70s/80's

  • my fav jam track at tho moment!

  • Exactly!

  • who the fuck understands that chow mein face

  • i have my fair share of classics(The beatles, The who, etc.) but the Jam is hands down the best.:-)x4

  • youve got to wear the right cloths ,they smelt of pubs and some of the lads said theyll be back next week ,you just might be right

  • cant wait to see paul weller on the 6th july in cork yehaaaaaaa belfast mods 4 ever

  • I'm 96 you know and I love the Jam

  • yep ok is that the best you could come up with glue sniffer

  • Belta tune, even if it is the studio version. They was much better live. And To the guy proclaiming to be Joe's mate. I am sure if he was alive today he would be thrilled that a fifteen year old lad appreciates his work so much as to name himself after him. He can call himself whatever he wants, its out of respect ntthing else. Although I ssuspect your full of shit and dont know him. So pick on someone a bit older next time, like me.

  • The intro reminds me of "Tommy Gun" by The Clash.

  • Is it me, or did Weller borrow the intro from 'Village Green Preservation Society' by the Kinks at 1:58? Very good song though with an upbeat reggae feel.

  • I don't hear it, and I love that album.

  • my teeth are funnn to clinch together

    os sexy it hurt

  • One of the great string of singles by Britain's preeminent power pop juggernauts. Unfortunately for America, Weller's brazen British accent -- while singing! -- and ostensibly English subject matter made this band unfit for the American AOR audience that was weened on the Kinks, Stones, Who and Beatles yet had become fat babies on Journey, Styx and Foreigner, thus unable to, so we were told, appreciate the timelessness of a song of this magnitude.

    Strange Town exists everywhere.

  • Superb post Klotzilla !!! Angry rock with something meaningful to say..... too harsh for the US market of that era ? Probably.... but a classic nonetheless!!!

    Billy.....

  • One of the best comment's ive ever read.

  • Amazing song.

  • how dare you call your self "joestrummer" ?? have a little respect!!

Anyway, this is the real deal!

" break it up, break it up, Weller knew too much?

  • WTF ? I can call myself joe strummer if i want you cunt. Im more of a fan of him than you'll ever be you prick.

  • not a " fan" - I was a friend of Joe's, who's sadly missed ( now who's the cunt ! )

  • ok fair play. Im only 15 mate gimme break at least im one of the minority who likes good music ;)

  • I can't argue with that! I guess you're a rare breed! Respect!

  • call yaself whatever you want dude ... fair play to ya mate ... of course its done out of respect .

  • Im sure you'll agree as a mate of Joe's hes picked a fucking good idol to have. After all he could be reffering to himself as Enoch Powell or such. Did Joe actually dislike The Jam by the way ?

  • i like the jam n im 14 plus ive liked them ever since i was 4

  • The Jam still rule the mod scene with the exception of The Who. I got to see "From The Jam" in L.A. this year. Bruce Foxton and Rick

Buckler still put on an AWESOME show. I thought it wouldn't be that great without Paul, but they sounded better than ever!

  • Nick> Yep, the Park West is still here in Chicago. They still have the best new indie bands playing there

  • LONDON 1984, WHAT A FUCKING MAZE

  • EXCELLENT BAND SEEN EM LIVE

  • weller. the fucking man.

  • the jam with out Paul Weller is not THE JAM just two guys playing good music

  • the jam with out paul weller is like a vespa with a a engine .The style council with out bruce and rick is like a vespa with out wheels it is going nowhere .Paul weller with out rick and bruce is listening to billy brag all words no soul

  • The Jam without Weller is like The Damned Without Vanian

  • the jam without weller ? like glitterband without gary, like a vespa wih no engine.he should get together again and o a led zep !they would make millions ! his music since the jam has been wave after wave of ear busting shit

  • You made me laugh!!! The Jam was so amazing, and Paul's stuff after The Jam has been pure crap, with the exception of just one song...Hung Up. Besides Hung Up, Paul Weller and The Style Council stink!!!

  • love this song, its the alarm on my phone :P

and anyway, weller has his own solo career now, maybe thats how he doesnt want 2 go back 2 the jam. foxton nd buckler are still amazin musicians 2 tho.

  • It's Weller's own fault he didn't hop back on the Jam train. He's kinda dead to me now, simply because he hasn't done crap since the Jam and Style Council. And the little crap he does is just crappy.

  • The Jam without Weller ?? just 2 guys cashing in surely wot have they done?? nowt bloody passengers

  • my fav jam song will never get tired of hearing it

ther will never b another band like them

  • Saw From the Jam Friday night, you won't miss Paul much, they were Great

  • Going to see Rick and Bruce in Chicago in two weeks - don't care if Paul has gone missing. Just looking forward reliving the best music of my life. If Paul was there, that would be cool, but I'll manage. Scares me that this is almost 30 years old.

  • seen them in london they were fantastic my friend

  • i just saw them in los angeles on Jan 26th they sound better without Paul Weller, they have much more energy

  • thanks! can't wait. Been watching the videos from the live performances and they sound great! cheers -

  • Saw "From The Jam" this past Saturday (9 Feb, 2008) in NYC. They were great-Russell Hastings was dead on..

  • Got to give the chicago show thumbs up as well. couldn't believe they played "private hell" And russell did do a great job - and he knew when to step back and let bruce have his moments. well done!

  • Can't beleive you think they are better without Paul Weller.Did you see them live as The Jam?

  • Blimey - I'm English, but I lived in Chicago 79/80 -- and saw ace Jam gig at the Park West (is it still there?) and met Weller & Co afterwards. They were great - but even better in 78 at Great Yarmouth when a crew of us from Univ East Anglia went to see them. Happy Days. Up The Mariners

  • fucking classic. this was the first record i ever stole (could'nt afford them then) the lyrics and power of wellers voice was incredible. he is sood goood, head and shoulders above all his contempories. a longevity rare in english artists.

  • One of their best songs... what a great band that was....

  • First song to hit the top 20 i believe, no 15???

  • thanks for putting that up - never seen it but i think Strange Town is the song that sums up The Jam the best.

Top class and pure quality, cheers!

  • He wrote some of the most profound lyrics, and at such a young age, someone post little boy soldiers please.

  • the jam were better that the beatles

  • you are a wise man

  • hmmm , could be , hmmm , maybe. I really loves this band in my teens age.

  • Can't mime to save his life but live he is no 1.

  • brill

  • god i love the jam , ad some many good nights throwing myself all over the dance floor to his songs role on the tribute bands , not the same but keeping the jam alive thanks j

  • This was one of my favorite bands in high school, I just thought Paul Weller was a god. I wanted to swim across the pond to see him! I had to settle for the Style Council instead.

  • If you punch a mime it won't scream

  • hildathenoo:"its great but it is miming, so what"

So it's rare footage from nearly 30 years ago of one of the greatest rock bands this country has produced. Sorry if that's confusing.

  • its great but it is miming, so what

  • One of the greatest singles...ever!

  • the best ever

  • Dutch tv. What do you expect?
