Where was the video located? I have a hummingbird feeder outside my kitchen window and there is only one "green" hummingbird, just like yours, that eats the nectar everyday. I tried to take pictures that it was too fast.

Bird Feeders Beware! If you want to attract these wonderful animals to enjoy... do it responsibly. Please, never feed hummingbirds commercial or store bought "dyed" (red) hummingbird sugar water. Always use non Genetically Modified Organism sugar or simply.... use only ORGANIC CANE SUGAR..... All other sweeteners including white table sugar is now derived from the GMO sugar beet plant.

Few hits on the red food colouring issue (some a grammatic abortion). There is a lot of validity to these claims. I use beet dyes only for my feeders, as the clear glass vessels look better and last longer than most of the junky red plastics.

Problem - there is data suggesting that red coloring in the nectar has produced tumors in hummingbirds. Don't these hand feeding techniques require red dye in the nectar to drawn them in? Do a search on this topic and you will find a lot of information about this potentially fatal problem

Thank you for your kindness and video....but just for the future, it is probably best to use or make food without the red dye. The red coloring is turning out to be toxic for the liver of these birds. If you want to hand feed, you can also use a small tube feeder. It is not a good idea to have this little guy ingesting our human microbes, no matter how clean we feel our hands are. It will make them very sick.
