i want to hear more songs like this, but i was hearing other songs by Broken Social Scene and couldn't find anything like it (maybe i didn't look enough) but, do any of you know any other songs of bands like this song?
When I broke up with my boyfriend this song was playing on Pandora, nearly a year or two ago. Really got into the Broken Social Scene. Then I heard this on Scott Pilgrim and was truly in love. Truly a beautiful song, the lyrics just make you feel less alone despite the SOUND of the song. As in, "you're not the only one in this. You can make it through this, be strong."
This song is OLD. I'm almost 27 years old and I definitely remember listening to this song a lot when I was 18. Not too many people were listening to them back then I guess, I don't know.
@TheUraharaFan Are you retarded, sir? Read my post again. I was stating I was listening to them 9 years ago if you can actually read correctly. Good try at correcting me buddy but you don't know how to read.
@ginad17 Broken Social Scene participated fully in the movie, signifying their approval, yet you truly feel justified in dismissing those who were led here by the movie? Or are you just so much of a fan of cool bands that you disapprove even of the band's choice and choose to condemn both the band for actively participating in the film (FYI they contributed nearly all the music in the film, non-diegetic and diegetic) as well as the subsequent fans?
@ginad17 Why should they leave? They came here because this song had an impact on them. They came here because this song moved them like it moved you when you heard it. If anything, you should be happy people are thinking like you do and have similar musical interests. :) I heard this song about 4 years ago, by the way :P
@EyEqUbE1 Knives Chao is 17 years old, and this song appears in the movie when Knives just wanted to see scott's band play... plus other emily haines songs appear in the movie and on the soundtrack. you effin moron.
so creepy!!! I heard this song earlier today and really liked it, but when I went here to listen to it, it sent the creepiest shivers down my spine. I feel like I'm being haunted!
I’ve realized that I have an obsession with any artist who can successfully capture the innocence and naivety of a teenager’s life. With all of the risky rebelling, searching for self-identity and epic first loves..This period of development can result in the most riveting displays of art in a humans life...this is why im in love with this song and video :)
@jaylene124 YES!!! SNOW CAKE!! When I first saw Scott Pilgrim I thought this sounded familiar and then I realized it was in Snow Cake - and that to me matters most.
Used to be the one of the rotten ones And I liked you for that Now you're all gone, got your make-up on And you're not coming back Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash Talking trash, under your breath Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash Talking trash, under my window Park that car, drop that phone, Sleep on the floor, dream about me Used to be the one of the rotten ones And I liked you for that Now you're all gone, got your make-up on And you're not coming back
this is a alright video, its not about a relationship though its about the singer talking to herself when she was 17 and the end is her telling her 17 year old self to dream about her future self
Beautiful short film, goes perfectly to the song really portrays the teenage angst the song is about really pulls you back to that first love, and how completely earth shattering it can be when its gone, brings you back to the feeling of the whole world closing in on you as you're watching very pretty :-) thanks for doing the song justice.
It was more about the context in which it was used which actually made the song seem really creepy, yet sad at the same time. It's a good film you should give it a watch
I'd never heard this song until I watched 'Snow Cake' a few years ago with Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver and found it absolutely enchanting...like the film.
Hopefully it'll increase its exposure thanks to 'Scott Pilgrim'.
For those who haven't seen 'Snow Cake' I would strongly recommend it - it's a brilliant film.
@sleepypoodle I absolutely agree about the scene in "Snow Cake"...it certainly was enchanting. I hadn't even seen "Scott Pilgrim" until today, so I'm glad I wasn't the only one exposed to it first through "Snow Cake."
The great thing about art is it can be interpreted differently by different people. It can mean many things, not just what you think is right. When I first heard this song, I related the lyrics to something exactly along this video's message.
yeah i was a shocked when i heard it in scott pilgrim. This band rock and never got the coverage they deserved. i saw them in portsmouth and in cardiff a few years back and they were epic. it was the same night as the stones played cardiff and i was wearing my stones tee and the trumpet player came off stage and serenaded my tee shirt lol.
I think some of the extra rewinding could've been left out! But Oh man, did my heart ache and my throat closed up too, the tears just about leaked out. And it's rare that something I watch makes me cry. It went SO PERFECTLY with the song. I loved it. 5 stars. Thanks for this.
