  • Really good video!

  • Does anybody agree this is an amazing song, but they way her voice is kinda scares you?

  • im in love

  • i found about this song through scott pilgrim and the album with the dvd...lol

  • For me was at nineteen:miss it. For me was at twenty:miss him. Sweet Sadness it is...

  • i want to hear more songs like this, but i was hearing other songs by Broken Social Scene and couldn't find anything like it (maybe i didn't look enough) but, do any of you know any other songs of bands like this song?

  • @spazfall look up gregory and the hawk, she is amazing and makes music like this.

  • This is a hauntingly good song

  • sent here by Scott Pilgrim.

  • this is not an experimental film.

  • Judging from the comments here, the best way to piss off an indie rock hipster is to actually enjoy music...

  • He must be going to the 56th floor..

  • Is this about lesbians....?

  • When I broke up with my boyfriend this song was playing on Pandora, nearly a year or two ago. Really got into the Broken Social Scene. Then I heard this on Scott Pilgrim and was truly in love. Truly a beautiful song, the lyrics just make you feel less alone despite the SOUND of the song. As in, "you're not the only one in this. You can make it through this, be strong."

  • This song is OLD. I'm almost 27 years old and I definitely remember listening to this song a lot when I was 18. Not too many people were listening to them back then I guess, I don't know.

  • @zkafel

Broken Social Scene is 12 years old, and Emily Haines, the vocalist in this song, would have been in her early teens 27 years ago.

  • @TheUraharaFan Are you retarded, sir? Read my post again. I was stating I was listening to them 9 years ago if you can actually read correctly. Good try at correcting me buddy but you don't know how to read.

  • @zkafel

Sorry, I completely misread. How embarrassing.

  • @TheUraharaFan ha. no problem.

  • She's beautiful. Oh my. Jelous, deffintly.

  • I can't stop playing this song. <3

  • @sweetsolitude99

i be home alone and blastN this

    :P

  • AWESOMES

  • Song used to creep me out, when Scott sees Knives, but now I CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT!!!

  • I AM IN LOVE!! <3

  • this is truly inspirational! loved every second!

  • wonderful..

  • REally nice song, but most monotone lyrics ever.

(Still like the song so much)

  • so good!

  • If Scott Pilgram brought you here please leave

  • @ginad17 dont get pissy because they have alot of new fans for being in scott pilgrim, hipster

  • @jonasmrichards wow you just called me a hipster so original like I've never heard it befores

  • @ginad17 maybe its because you are a hipster

  • @jonasmrichards and I don't care.

  • @ginad17 mad hipster don't be mad, just because the shitty band you like has one good song it wont become mainstream

  • @MaxyZorin Calling me a hipster...so original.

  • @ginad17 sarcastically saying thats original, how original

  • @jonasmrichards Ok you win. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that it dosen't take shitty mainstream movies for me to hear about good bands.

  • @ginad17 Broken Social Scene participated fully in the movie, signifying their approval, yet you truly feel justified in dismissing those who were led here by the movie? Or are you just so much of a fan of cool bands that you disapprove even of the band's choice and choose to condemn both the band for actively participating in the film (FYI they contributed nearly all the music in the film, non-diegetic and diegetic) as well as the subsequent fans?

Stop being such a dick; think.

  • @ginad17 Translation: Stop liking my hipster music! It's not fair, I was into cool stuff before it was cool!

  • @MrElegos Yes, you have pegged to a tee! I am not a hipster.

  • @ginad17 Hmm, how to put this delicately....

    Lol, U Mad?

  • @MrElegos Nope

  • @MrElegos I'm no mad. emotions are so mainstream ;)

  • @ginad17 No points for proofreading, but I give you props for a decent joke.

  • @MrElegos I appreciate that.

  • @MrElegos I'm really not an asshole, despite popular belief on this video.

  • @ginad17 I couldn't possibly imagine why.

  • @ginad17 Why should they leave? They came here because this song had an impact on them. They came here because this song moved them like it moved you when you heard it. If anything, you should be happy people are thinking like you do and have similar musical interests. :) I heard this song about 4 years ago, by the way :P

  • i flipped out when i heard this song in my room and realized it had nothing to do with scott pilgrim

  • @EyEqUbE1 Knives Chao is 17 years old, and this song appears in the movie when Knives just wanted to see scott's band play... plus other emily haines songs appear in the movie and on the soundtrack. you effin moron.

  • I wish my dick was being sucked right now...

  • so creepy!!! I heard this song earlier today and really liked it, but when I went here to listen to it, it sent the creepiest shivers down my spine. I feel like I'm being haunted!

  • I’ve realized that I have an obsession with any artist who can successfully capture the innocence and naivety of a teenager’s life. With all of the risky rebelling, searching for self-identity and epic first loves..This period of development can result in the most riveting displays of art in a humans life...this is why im in love with this song and video :)

  • SNOW CAKE.

  • @jaylene124 YES!!! SNOW CAKE!! When I first saw Scott Pilgrim I thought this sounded familiar and then I realized it was in Snow Cake - and that to me matters most.

  • This is absolutely lovely. (:

  • Snow cake :)

  • whos the douche who disliked this?

  • i give credit to the artist for the originality of the song, but i can't handle the weird voice effect. just use a regular mic damnit

  • Used to be the one of the rotten ones And I liked you for that Now you're all gone, got your make-up on And you're not coming back Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash Talking trash, under your breath Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash Talking trash, under my window Park that car, drop that phone, Sleep on the floor, dream about me Used to be the one of the rotten ones And I liked you for that Now you're all gone, got your make-up on And you're not coming back
  • @imjohnandyouare What's up with the extra "the's"? Btw, were people really having trouble understanding the lyrics? Just wondering...

  • @bbbmoody Yes.

  • im a guy and i like this song i heard it in scott pilgrim does it make me lame

  • @horsechoker704 poof

  • @horsechoker704 Actually, it makes you really awesome, Canadian indie bands DESERVE street cred.

  • This is what one sided love sounds like.

  • Is it normal to want to cry your eyes out while listening to this song?

  • God dammit, more updates??? I don't need them while listening to good music.

  • Was this filmed at the University of Virginia..? In the Tuttle lounge??

  • everybody should lesbians this song

  • this is a alright video, its not about a relationship though its about the singer talking to herself when she was 17 and the end is her telling her 17 year old self to dream about her future self

  • u look like betty page! awesome work btw

  • @ravegirl787 wow she really does o.o the resemblence is uncanny

  • pirates are in this year

  • I love this song SO much.

    Sincerely,

    Fan before Scott Pilgrim. <3

  • Beautiful short film, goes perfectly to the song really portrays the teenage angst the song is about really pulls you back to that first love, and how completely earth shattering it can be when its gone, brings you back to the feeling of the whole world closing in on you as you're watching very pretty :-) thanks for doing the song justice.

  • I might just be a pervert but dose anyone else see a penis at 4:03???

  • @Kitsuziza Yup, one Tyler Durden special.

  • he's actually really yummy(:

  • I love this song but it reminds me of bad times. -.- But besides that, I still listen to it and the video is great.

  • Good video. Like a meditation on longing and memory. Please keep shooting.

  • fun to see people write that discovered this song in Scott Pilgrim vs. the world ... Broken Social Scene is more than a movie!

  • I think I speak for many who have posted here ... What is the name of the girl?, is really cute

  • i turned 17 yesterday and i watched this as soon as i woke up <3

my favorite song, and beautiful video :)

  • this was made really well

  • I'm 17 and what is this.

  • @lordfumblesquid this is music.

  • @zillah712 Scott Pilgrim. Nice.

  • i absolutely love this video...sends chills down my spine. it is really quite touching. well done.

  • experimental video to an experimental band, gotta love it :)

  • @Shurandthezombies

I KNOWZ!! ima buy it on demand, but how come everyone was so surprise to hear this?

  • got a ques

how come people flipped when hearing this song in scott pilgram?

    i never seen the movie.

  • @cara28mel

It was more about the context in which it was used which actually made the song seem really creepy, yet sad at the same time. It's a good film you should give it a watch

  • Does anybody know the lyrics?

  • @carebear2232 Google is your friend.

  • @Bollibompa Actually I don't trust Google anymore after what he did to my sister.... Damn Google

  • Very nice for this just being an experiment. I love the sepia, it makes the video more dramatic and dark, but not over the edge goth. Nice work.

  • I'd never heard this song until I watched 'Snow Cake' a few years ago with Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver and found it absolutely enchanting...like the film.

Hopefully it'll increase its exposure thanks to 'Scott Pilgrim'.

For those who haven't seen 'Snow Cake' I would strongly recommend it - it's a brilliant film.

  • @sleepypoodle I absolutely agree about the scene in "Snow Cake"...it certainly was enchanting. I hadn't even seen "Scott Pilgrim" until today, so I'm glad I wasn't the only one exposed to it first through "Snow Cake."

  • i love this song. end of story.

  • I enjoy this.

  • Your smile is absolutely stunning.

  • I watch this every once in a while...

  • Wow that was creepy as fuck

  • nothing to do with the song. dumb

  • @itsxeverlong

The great thing about art is it can be interpreted differently by different people. It can mean many things, not just what you think is right. When I first heard this song, I related the lyrics to something exactly along this video's message.

  • @itsxeverlong good input.

  • @itsxeverlong who cares. people use songs in movies for the soundtrack, not exactly to interpret the scene.

  • this is REALLY good. are you in film school? ahahhaa.

  • Her smile is beautiful. Has alot of emotion in it.

  • Nice work. You have a new fan.

  • This is very good. you could use this to get work i'd bet.

  • incredible work. great job.

  • great job! really captured the song. favorite :)

  • This is really nice, looks like some interlacing issues though. Was that due to the 16mm or the way you exported it?

  • This is absolutely beautiful!!!

  • well done and beautiful

  • That girls smile is so breath taking! My gosh OwO

  • I flipped out when I heard this song in Scott Pilgrim.

  • @CutePandaFart

lol me too. I was pleased to hear it at the movies.

  • @CutePandaFart You probably noticed this already, but Knives was a 17yr of girl...yeah, thats cool.

  • @CutePandaFart

yeah i was a shocked when i heard it in scott pilgrim. This band rock and never got the coverage they deserved. i saw them in portsmouth and in cardiff a few years back and they were epic. it was the same night as the stones played cardiff and i was wearing my stones tee and the trumpet player came off stage and serenaded my tee shirt lol.

  • @CutePandaFart yeah that was an awesome movie

  • @CutePandaFart this was one scott pilgrim?? where? haha

  • @cillaainai when scott sees knives at the amp vs. amp battle before he confesses to ramona.

  • @CutePandaFart again, shitty movie, cool music

  • @Juan8D8 nooooooooo...

  • film or no film should have deinterlaced when exporting from FCP. would have gotten rid of the crazy jagged lines. just saying.

  • @OutletEntertainment i think the jagged lines add to the ambiance, and pays homage to the scratchiness of the track. bravo.

  • Very good.Captured the song well there, with the different motions.

  • I love the idea. :)

I think some of the extra rewinding could've been left out! But Oh man, did my heart ache and my throat closed up too, the tears just about leaked out. And it's rare that something I watch makes me cry. It went SO PERFECTLY with the song. I loved it. 5 stars. Thanks for this.

  • this brought tears to my eyes.

    thank you.

  • i have goosebumps.....

  • i found this when i was watching snow cake! i love it!

  • @SharonOsbourneFan07 same, thts how i found this. i first heard of it when reading the book lets get lost, but i just hadn't looked it up. i really reccomend tht book btw, it's amazing, n kind of inspirational x

  • @hyperhellbunnie omg i absolutely love that book by Sarra Manning! xx

  • i think she looks a lot older than seventeen

  • this has been extremely well done. congrats(: ami12321 I disagree, I can discern a lot of meaning.. the harder it is to see the better the video in my opinion

  • this has been extremely well done. congrats(: ami12321 I disagree, I can discern a lot of meaning.. the harder it is to see the better the video in my opinion

  • This song is so nice

  • That was beautiful. Made the song even more poignant. I don't like the word poignant but it fits here :)

  • this is incredible. insanely powerful.

  • wow haha, i thought this was the official video for the song. jawesome job

  • The video is pretty and all, but it really...

Artsy video's like this are beautiful, but they HAVE to make some kind of sense. This is just a bunch of pretty frames put together.

Still, you're pretty good (: Everyone needs to improve a tiny bit, y'know?

  • this is the most gorgeousgorgeousgorgeous film ever.

you really should send this to broken social scene, they'd be proud!

  • Are you able to tell me the girls name in this video?

  • this movie says i love myself.

  • this is amazing . love it. so well made, its such and amazing song.

  • really good video

  • Holy fucking shit.

    This is like.

    Wow.

  • this is beautiful.

  • So when I saw that this was a self-made music video, I didn't have high hopes. But. Like. Broken Social Scene should be made aware of this video. Because it's awesome and the two actors are absolutely perfect for this song and make a great screen match. I don't know what else to say other than I adore this and will be showing it to friends. <3

Good job on everyone involved with making this.

  • i freakin love this film/song! i gotta do something with this song. but anyway, great job editing and interesting concept. strong story and heart. thank you :) <3

  • ive watched this video for more than 500 times.... LITERALLY

  • you interpruted it all wrong

  • @therealmcnulty does it REALLY matter if it wasn't what the artist interpreted it as? It can mean slightly different things to different people

  • mi.really.favorite.songg..yeeaaa!

  • Damn....that girl looks cute! :3

    Great music and video!

    5/5

  • my freind had a dance to this in a recital. it was cool!

  • I love it. And I usually hate self-made music videos. Truly amazing stuff.

  • BSS just keeps getting more & more amazingggg!!

  • I found this video to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I think it captured the mood perfectly, and the way it was put together gave it an interesting twist. I really did enjoy watching it; almost got teary-eyed by the end, too, and that hasn't happened since I first listened to the song!

  • The girl in the video kinda looks like my sister, she's gorgeous.

Love the vid, love the music. Amazing work <3

  • There's a reason it's called wincest. +1

  • THI IS F**KING AWESOME!!!! LOVE IT .Plus I like the music too. Broken Social Scene is kinda cool

  • FRIKING AMAZINGGGGGGGGG LOVE IT
