far too many dislikes for such an amazing effort on this impossibly difficult piece of music, he makes it look fairly easy, which it really is not, this piece has given many older professional pianists problems they cant overcome, its a real challenge to pull off at the indicated tempo 176.
An execution that can technically be compared to those of the great chopin 'etude-specialists'. Such clearness and speed are in my opinion only supassed by very few great pianists (e.g. gavrilov, argerich,...)
you make this peace look far too easy. Ive been playing it every day for a year and a half and am still far away from making it sound this good...Bravo
@dalionsfan101 Hanon. Lots and lots of Hanon. The hardest part is not making it sound like waves crashing but more like a steady stream, with thunder in the background.
@justinchun13 I actually find this etude to be the hardest (or at least top 3 hardest) to play of op. 10. Mastering this etude is a major achievement for anyone.
this is wonderful to just listen and know I dont have to try to do that... whew... sometimes when you give up then you can finally love music for its own sake! *tsk* yes it took me till age 45 to realize that :D Of course I still have to keep working at my own level though!! Well this is just a delightful performance, I must say, lovely changes in dynamics throughout, like the audio equivalent of watching a swallow soaring and swooping... sigh... thank God for beauty...
Congratulations on a wonderful performance. You might wish to check the score at 1:31 into this performance; I believe it's a C-major arpeggio. Of course you may have a different edition. In any case, bravo!
your fingers are very light, makes the piece sound very elegant and precise. what type of piano are you using? i personally think pieces like this sound great on bosendorfers.
OMG , you are a GEnious, Waaaaay much better than Valentina Lisitsa! She should learn from you...!Your Pollini's references are absolutely right, you have a deep feeling and all the planes are executed with amazing control, so you can listen the main melody, for not to mention the speed .... I'm in love with pianist like you...World needs you
Geschicklichkeit hervorragend, Ausübung perfekt... jetzt fehlt nur noch Gefühl... Mit dieser Etüde gewinnt man keinen Wettbewerb... Ein wenig langsamer und a little bit mor feeling.... and it would be really perfect !!!
Nevertheless, I pushed the "Like it" button... Du hast es mehr als verdient !!!
I just started to practice this piece now, but how do I have to do that? I started with one chord, when that was good, i started with the second chord...
You're playing so great! Can i have a little advise from the master? =)
O my ..GAWD!! How did you acheieve such clarity and speed?! At such a young age!! I cannot tell the dissference between ur playing and Vldamir Ashkenazy's. SuPerb Job!! Superb Musicain!!
mine is coming along very well now. play legato with no pedal just to experiment, youll never go back to the pedal, with the exception of maybe a few sections
im studying this etude, ive been working hard on 0:40 descending arpeggio. it was difficult at first but starting to feel natural. and 0:45 descending arpeggio. requires a bit of rolling the wrist to reach completely. but its very fun it doesnt feel like work because the music is so good
I am getting ready to start this Etude but i am seeing a cinfusion in the measures. When you are ascending on the first arpeggio is it C,G, mid.C, E then backwards to mid.C? meaning you go back to the C you already played then keep going up? becuase that seems difficult to play.
Genius. Kristian, you should enter the Chopin International Competition. This would make you jump right in the scenary where Argerich, Pollini and Blechacz are: You fit exellently.
Very Good interpretation, but I have to argue that all though Age can be impressive when one's ability is high, it is sure, especially if they are a child, (not calling this person a child at all! XD) and are playing "adult" classical music that the qualtiy and technique of the performance is of the caliber it would be if it had been performed by someone of the average age group for that piece. This young man does a unique interpretation giving the audience a splendid performance. Well Done!
@lllllllllllllll88 Genious like Sviatoslav Ritcher could learn one WTC in one month: that is 48 pieces, and about of 4 continous hours of the most elaborate music. It also dependas on the person, technique and memory. I can work on 6 at a time.
looking back at this video after being inspired by it and practicing this etude for several weeks, i've realised i (luckily) don't have to play it as impossibly fast as i first thought i had to but its really hard to always always hit all the right notes.
that's why you have to practice this slowly for many many many many times until you make no mistakes what so ever. yes, long and tedious (i'm still only on the first page out of 5), but when i listen to this, by the end it will so be worth it!
Oh my gosh!!! This is crazy, but there is no such thing as a prodigy!!! When people say "You' re a prodigy!" I laugh and say.."No, it's straight up hard work and learning! Many tears fall in the process too!!" But this still very excellent!
You can get all the notes down in a day because they are repetitive patterns....but getting this fast and smooth and accurate takes ...you could do it in 3 weeks at 2 hours per day, hard practicing.
its true what your saying i started practicing sunday and i practice two hours a day and now i have the first up and downs until the hard middle part comes :D
Pretty beastly performance! I am amazed! I didn't even know this etude was so fast until tonight! Nonetheless, I have the impression some notes got lost in the arpeggiating... Could I be wrong? I know they were all played, yet, I couldn't hear them all..
Then you haven't heard berezovksy's version of this piece when he was in japan. Can be found on youtube. Well the sound quality in this video is not that good so it eats some of the arpeggios.
Everyone thinks you have to be a genius to play piano, but they don't get it. Most of the time influential or inspirations usually come from a lot of practice. It takes a strong adamant persistence of playing a piece over and over, doing everything over and over and over. Understanding and then reviewing. Even learning new things is something you get better at, and once you learn a lot of things, you can even learn faster making you review less. Practice a year straight. See what happens.
You are totally right, my friend. Music does not come easily even if you are a genius. That is why many geniuses dont get to stage as formal pianists. They rely to much on talent. As the Great Chopin said ¨patience is the best teacher¨
More than that you have to enjoy it, at least for me, I would have no motivation for the work and effort put into preparing a piece like this if I didn't enjoy it, and I think the same applies to most pianists.
@brent78900 theres some truth in there, but some learn faster they are just wired differently. there are people who practice alot and have money to afford great teachers but they lack talent and dont get half as good as a talented student. natural ability has alot more to do with piano than you think
@brent78900 I would consider him a genious for playing this piece at his age personally, you have to take into account the difficulty of this piece - its not just any old etude for piano and it is considered for all the right reasons to be one of the hardest etudes ever wrote for piano. This piece is in a completely different league to most of the pieces you see people of his age playing, as if to impress someone, such as rondo alla turca or flight of the bumblebee.
