I'd love to see that episode of Donahue that she did in the 90's. I remember watching it when it first aired and thinking some of her ideas were kooky, but some of the really creative ones elicited groans from the audience.
I own Amy's book and have read it over and over since I bought it 15 years ago at age 20. If it wasn't for my husband, I'd be as much of a tightwad as Amy is... although I'm not too far behind her!
We have her book in our library - don't buy it it might be at your local public library. Wow this video sounds like it could have been shot yesterday, (except where she names dates).
Macarose I salute you. Necessity forced me into this way of thinking when I was 55 - seven years later I realise that if I had discovered it even ten years before that I would have a whole heap more for my retirement.
Have you seen the clip where Amy shows the pic her daughter drew of her appartment? That's the way to go!
This segment aired exactly 18 years ago. Funny how the exact same things she was saying then are being said now. And she thinks consumerism was bad in the 1980s?? I don't think the terms 'McMansion' or 'SUV' had even been invented then!
Wow. 15 years ago I gave Amy's book to my brother and sister-in-law. They never read it. Two years later I picked it up... and was spellbound. I may have been the only 22 year old at the time to read TTG cover to cover. Great book that had a great impact on my life.
