@vietznamese The main differences between the 240z and 280z are the engine. The 240z has a 2.4L with twin hitachi S.U. carbs and the 280z has a 2.8L with EFI and many more emissions parts. If this is going to be your daily driver you need to take into account reliability. If you live in a year around warm climate the carbs are no problem, but if you live with cold winters have fun starting a 240z after sitting outside it doesnt happen. 280z's are also a bit more luxurious as well.

The 240z early 260z are same as a 240z. late 260z same as 280z. If in CAli look for 75 or before s30z no smog. But nonetheless all 3 models are great cars. I owned a 240z and now an early 260z. The parts are interchangable with no mods. Each of these 3 cars has something the other doesnt and are sought

Modern cars just dont do anything for me at all anymore. Its got to the stage where manufacturers have so much technology available to them in their production lines that it is still cost effective to make panels/ car bodies almost any shape they want. This isn't necessarily a good thing as they tend to overcomplicate their designs. Bar a few exceptions the appearance of cars after about 1999-2000 generally sucks
I actually saw my Z in there at 3:45. at the end of the row of Z's, there is a blue one, then the red "Vertical Doors" one and then mine is the other red Z, 3rd from the end. Great Videa. That scene at 3:45, with the BRE design 240Z is at the MSA event in 06'
The ugliest Datsun looked 10x better than best looking nissian... I loved when the Jap's tired to copy the us cars this is whn they looked the best imho.
@MarcsMobileAudio the s30z isnt designed off of us cars though, its main design is from 2 Italian GT cars. As for the original skylines like the hakosuka and kenmeri, as well as 510's... very much resemble us cars imo.

I'm 16, soon to be 17, and i found 1 of em on the internet pretty cheap too, so me and my dad saw couple cool projects online, so now actually he might get me a Datsun 280ZX or Z, Im like a total gear head so cars have been like 2/3 of my life. The 370z is nice. But it well never have the reputation and renown as the 240z. Its just not the same if you know what i mean. I really like the new styling, small, wide, and sexy to bring back characteristics of the 240z. I don't believe any car today can be as popular as this was back in the day, when they first came out you had to wait like a year to get one because everybody wanted one and production couldnt keep up with demand.
@Namord the new era of today brings in heavy, more luxurious cars, but when you see true sport enthusiasts. They don't want any of that. This is the epitome of sport. Straight down to the bare basics. This is why you never see big sound systems in these cars, tuners know better than to do that. It takes great taste to appreciate a car such as this, but a single sub and revamped rear and door speakers wouldn't hurt. :]

Yeah i would never put anything other than a inline 6, RB20 is just a very very small inline 6 with a displacement of only 2.0L, but that means high rev limits which i love the tone of a 2.0 inline 6 around 8k+ RPM
mostly fenders rocker panels front rear and inner wheel wells, few spots i need to fix panels but not worth putting in 100% new ones and framerails are in great shape.
I do agree both of those look good,, but in my mind i love the classic ZG look with the G-nose and the huge flairs, just a clean sexy look. Opinions differ between people though.

Very very sexy lines. I'm hoping to do an RB20det swap in my 240 because the L24 with the SU carbs is just not reliable enough for me. and if i was to build it it would cost alot. I might do an ITB setup with the RB20 as a want to be S20 from the 432 Fairlady Z (2litre inline 6 DOHC with tripple solex's)
wrecked my 280z couple years back. need a new one. best & fastest god damn car i ever owned. Replaced the original engine at 450k miles with a 300 zx. Then a semi ran me over. *fist pump
wouldnt surprise me if they are coustom made rims considering the Z emblem on them. Yes they would fit a 240sx because of the same bolt pattern. But i highly doubt you are going to be able to find the exact same rims.

I love these cars but is it just me that thinks the plastic fender flares look cheap? I understand its needed sometimes for bigger tires but is it really necessary for a street car??
I suppose they would look cheap on anything else. Those actually came from factory on the 240zg, so they can get away with it. Gives them a sorta a old school modification look.

Even the L24 can do insane revs, completely stock l24 can do 7k easily and 7,700 is the highest ive ever done but not made for that lol

mostly fenders rocker panels front rear and inner wheel wells, few spots i need to fix panels but not worth putting in 100% new ones and framerails are in great shape.

I do agree both of those look good,, but in my mind i love the classic ZG look with the G-nose and the huge flairs, just a clean sexy look. Opinions differ between people though.

Very true. To each there own. But there is something we can both agree on. A swapped out 240z is just kick ass!! The lines of the car are so fuckin sexy!

Very very sexy lines. I'm hoping to do an RB20det swap in my 240 because the L24 with the SU carbs is just not reliable enough for me. and if i was to build it it would cost alot. I might do an ITB setup with the RB20 as a want to be S20 from the 432 Fairlady Z (2litre inline 6 DOHC with tripple solex's)

Why not, if you're a swapping kind of guy. A early 260 is ideal because of it's 240 looks and it's more structural body than the 240.

wouldnt surprise me if they are coustom made rims considering the Z emblem on them. Yes they would fit a 240sx because of the same bolt pattern. But i highly doubt you are going to be able to find the exact same rims.

I love these cars but is it just me that thinks the plastic fender flares look cheap? I understand its needed sometimes for bigger tires but is it really necessary for a street car??

I suppose they would look cheap on anything else. Those actually came from factory on the 240zg, so they can get away with it. Gives them a sorta a old school modification look.
