They are anything but lip syncing you dolt. The beat boxer is on the right and the lead singer pulls his mic away when he needs to belt. Anyone who thinks that this particular clip is lip-synced...whatever.
@jeremyteocx A lot of other singers do that also when using a hand held mic. it's a fairly common way of making sure your high notes don't clip when they go through a mixer.
@jeremyteocx. I know why he's doing it, but he's pulling too far. (I work in editing, including sound editing). It makes it sound worse live. You can always pump up the volume in mix, but it messes it up live.
@v8killaREX. Really? Cause it sounds like crap. He pulls it too far, thus lessening the quality of sound instead of improving it. He may know what he's doing, but that doesn't mean it sounds good.
@v8killaREX Yeah he definitely knows what he's doing :) It's definitely something vocalists do a lot of. But he does pull it away much further than I usually see ppl do.
Now this is a shame. They were advertising their 3cd set and somehow hsn roped them into singing their Folgers commercial?????????? That is just so wrong!
This is a performance of the group early on. His voice was fine, and he still easily hits those notes live. His microphone techniques are just pretty wild. It's his thing, but trust me he still has that note with ease.
Yes, the lisp helps the lead sing higher. Just as if you notice Barry at :18 drops hes head down before he goes to sit on the low note. Relaxes the throat and lets the full length of the vocal chords to viborate. I do the same thing to hit those low ones. And yeah, Rockapella is the best for sure.
Singing that well ACAPELLA really shows the talent in these men's singing voices. I have complete respect for anyone who sings acapella. I can't even sing with music let alone without! Rockapella is the best. LOVE THEM
One of the few commercial songs that I will always remember. Ha, I can just imagine whistling/singing this song in 50 years and having to explain to my grandkids what the hell it is. LOL. Like my grandpa having to explain his "Oh, I wish I was a little cake of soap" song.
he sings that "flat" note the same way in the bethlehem performance i think and he doesn't stick his tongue out 0_0 so it might not be a screwup. not sure.
just because he doesn't sing it EXACTLY the same like he does in the commercial, doesn't mean he's flat, or off, or bad, or there's dissonance, or anything. and who are you to say he's "flat from the note he should be on". if anyone knows what note he should be on, i think it would be him.
Didn't say it was. I was referring to the flat note that everyone else has been mentioning. I just wanted to add that I liked the way he did the "p". that's all ^_^
yeah he does go flat, but understand his tessitura for all their songs hovers around middle c to tenor high c...so it's understandable that he's a bit tired
It's when he says "Pour Myself a CUP" On cup, he is flat from the note he should be on. If you look at the other guys on that note, the yall look at him in surprise.
anyone with an untrained ear would not be able to pick out where he messed up just watch the beginning of the video scott just barely messes up the note right before he sticks his tongue out
he was like to hairs flat of where he needed to go. Not enough to completely stand out, but enough to make you go,"ooh, dissanance." Just a little bit though. With his high range, that could be understandable.

Scott always does that annoying microphone thing where he pulls it way too far from his face so you can't hear half of his high notes. Stop it Scott!
rackfocus 2 years ago 6
@rackfocus he's doing that to balance the sound, so that the higher notes won't suddenly stick out and sound too loud. part of his mic control.

well he sticks out his tongue because he was accidentally flat on the "up" of "the best part waking up" just a second ago.
The lisp at :11 is a result of his tongue being out while starting the next verse
