You guys talking about Total War lol, thats a kids game compared to Paradox. For example in Medieval Total War is insulting how few factions are they. I mean, Total War is a good saga and I like it, but please, if you want strategy Paradox Games.

@xxfisher321xx Well, you could choose so called "sprites". This makes all those markers of infantry, artillery etc. look like real tanks or humans or whatever you´re in possesion of. When these battle, you will see how the open fire on one another. But generally, no, there are no real-time battles, in which you can spectate the full engagement. This is more of a tactics game.

@JokerMan603 this version is actually one of the weaker ones in the series. Takes very long, bad AI and overly complex. lots of PCs struggle with it and crash. Much better to get HoI2.

Maybe it's just me, but as much as I've tried, I simply haven't been able get into HOI3. I've barely touched it since late last year. Conversely, I absolutely loved HOI2 and played it to death for a period of about 3 years.

Hi guys :D, I just bought this game but i have a ANNOYING problem.

I used to play HOI 2 and in that game it is really easy to choose generals for your armies, but in this game I dont not what the problem is, I press the button for changing general called enlist a general or something like that and a lot of portraits of avalible generals show up but I can`t choose them. I press the button to change but nothing happens.. What is the problem can someone please help mee?

@albin95lee You can choose them, but change their rank (number of stars). For divizion general 1 rank (1 star), for army 2 rank (2 stars), for army groop 3 rank (3 stars) and so on and so forth.

@Shad0wack you r right i played the demo and it was my first time ever playing HoI and after doing the tutorial i still dont know WTF is going on......... but I think that i downloaded a broken copy coz there was no music and when it said that the enemys chance to win a battle was 0 my army was just standing there... but i still wonna play the game and get good at it.

The in game tutorial is rubbish. There is a decent "starting" guide on the Paradox website that any newcomer should use. The manual is well over 100 pages and is not in a very good order (and the game has changed so much since it was printed)

What they need is a comprehensive "first 20 things to do" in detail. Even if it takes 2 hours.

The game itself is VERY good (with Semper Fi)

Its the same system as an Auto Resolve in Total war only a TON more factors play into it...Infrastructure, morale, supplies., The game is way more strategic than anything else out there
