Burglar breaks into your house and you grab your glock... (Burglar goes "Really? a Glock everyone has one of those pff" lol. Love the radio show Hickok45 great work!
Interesting to hear your history with an HK93. I understand, and share your appreciation for HK rifles. Although I would agree with you they are a bit heavy! :D I am finally venturing into the 357 Mag world for the first time. Finding an appreciation for revolvers and lever actions.
Your comment of going against the tide/ current is a very solid defense of glock and the top dogs. I still love my 1911, but I wouldn't be against a glock. I just always shoot single action pistols, it'd be a huge adjustment to shoot a long trigger pull.
RE:Honda Element. I was surprised that my son-in-law chose the Element. He's 6'3" and had tons of room compared to many other vehicles, so he loved the Element. I never knew it had so much room....and....I never realized that tall people have only a few choices that accommodate their size.
That "sound of freedom" will be the first ones to take your guns away in a national emergency-just like the national guard did after Hurricane Katrina.
Not sure if you ever checked out mrcolt45acp's videos, it's like a history lesson, and one of the most amazing private collections of Colt automatics in the world.
Hickok, please please make your radio show available as a podcast. Your son is probably techie enough to figure it out. If not, head over to the Gun Rights Radio Network and ask for help.
@MrHardPressed The best value would be a Rock Island Armory 1911 in my opinion. Made in the Phillipines on Colt machines. VERY good quality for $450 or less.
I originally wanted a Sig P226, but after watching your videos, I got interested in Glocks. But I had to try them all myself first. I shot a P226, a Glock 17, S&W MP9, Glock 19, Glock 22 and I liked Glock the most. I should've shot a Springfield XDM first, but I already made up my mind and got a Glock.
hello hickok45, i own a sp101 revolver .357 magnum..my question is..i was told by a friend that the gun needs a trigger job..its that possible! please let me know,,thank you
hello Hickok, i owned a Ruger sp101 revolver .357 magnum and i was told by a friend that the gun needs a trigger job done..its that possible!! please let me know..i love your videos :-)
hey hickok45 i just got my 1st gun and it a glock 23 i like to say thank for all the vid you have done..i was on the range friday also for the first time and im in love with the glock now i was shoting a 22 i had to take a 5 hour class to get my gun (washington dc gun law) but just want to say thanks again for all the help
If i was being attacked by terrorists, i would go with my Springfield 1911 MC Operator. If i was being attacked by zombies, i would go with a Glock 21, considering how things like a higher level of stopping power from increased barrel length, and increased accuracy from a longer sight picture would seem to matter slightly less compared to a 13 round magazine capacity when 7 brain-hungry crazies are sprinting at you doing twenty.
I think its Hickock's 'Lee Enfield' No.4 MkII, in .303. I have one made at the Royal Ordanance Factory, Fazakerley - Liverpool England. A fine rifle. Hickock is an outstanding shooter, speed and accuracy wise, especially if you consider that those long shots he makes, out to 230 yds are made standing up, not lying down prone on good old mother earth. Remarkable.
hickok!! i really enjoy listening to your radio shows while cleaning my guns, it's really ok to keep your radio shows longer cuz i've got whole lot of guns to clean!!!
I love my Kimber Customer II. It's the bottom of the Kimber Barrel but it has been 100% reliable for me. My wife can shoot the heck out of it as well. I've been running all kinds of handloads though it without fail (Oregon Trail Led, Rainer Coper Plated, Hornady HP's, etc) and all kinds of factory ball ammo. I still have fun with my Rugers, Sig's, and Glocks, but my 1911 is my favorite large caliber fun-gun.
Gun action of the week has to be Hickok's 8mm Mauser 98. I could tell it was a bolt action, but he gave it away to me when he disengaged the safety. The Lee-Enfield safety is very quiet and i dont think you can work the action on the Mosin while the safety is on. At least I think I got it right :)
As a Brit the 1911 thing shouldn't mean much to me, but you certainly explain it well. What a wonderful patriotic piece of history it is. Damn I want one now. Options available? A 1911 shaped bb gun in molded orange plastic. I've got to get me to the US.
I watched a very attractive young lady of about 19 year of age review eye liner and lip stick, while sitting at her makeup desk, on her you tube channel.
I thought wouldn't it be fun to see hickok45 and her trade places?
See her review a glock 19, and him review skin toner cream.
(LOL!)
She has a thing she does called "What's in my bag?" Where she shows and discusses what's in her purse, and she does not have a knife, gun, or magazine.
Thanks for letting me know of Tom Gresham. I've been listening to his pod casts. Seems like a really good guy. He Has a lot of great topics and awesome guests. So glad I have been listening to your show. Between the two of you I'm in shooters heaven. keep doing all the great work! You are a true pillar of the gun community.
I don't know what it was, but it's not a Mosin. He wouldn't have been able to cycle the bolt with the safety on like he did. Pin wasn't loud enough either.
@drabzong I haven't gotten to it yet (not that far into the radio show) but it has got to be the type 44 Arisaka because he did the last video on it..
Gun Action: I'll go with Garand. You loaded 2 rounds into it and not a magazine. Big round hitting the floor (30-06 prolly dented the floor). Not many semi-auto guns let you chamber a round with the safety on. And you said "classic" at the start. Garand=mucho classic! Sounded like a long rifle round being inserted too. Easy trigger safety to use. I want a Garand!
While talking about the various differences in fire arms and everyone's own opinion. I have heard many thoughts on the newer guns that have the rotating barrel. I myself don't have enough experience or knowledge on the subject to say anything one way or the other. What is your opinion on the rotating or locking barrel system?
@world74pker Personally I own a Rock Island Armory 1911 Full Size. I've had a great experience with it. There wasn't much tuning needed to make it very smooth. It's the Standard model, not the Tactical or Match. If you are on a budget, take a look at the RIA guns. I paid $425 for mine, I've seen them as low as $375.
Great show! Why do so many rail on glocks, if no one likes them why are they so popular? If they are so bad, why has every other manufacturer copied them? Just sayin!
@cmays555 People are allways trying to justify thier purchases. They put alot of effort into it,(sometimes they don't even know they are doing it)The glock is my favorite 9mm.1911 my favorite .45...just me
@bushmaniacishere No, thats the way the grip is supposed to be. I believe the grips have that cut-out to allow easy access to the pin that allows you to attach a lanyard loop. I might be wrong.
@benadrylp theres one made thats chambered in twenty two thats great meld of the 1911 with cheap small bullet you should look inot that. its cheap to about three fifty
Great show yet again, Hickock. I notice some people asking for a podcast rather than a youtube audio vid. Just go to CNET and download a converter. Convert the vid to an MP3 and load it on your MP3 player. YouTube and Hickock get the hits and you can listen to it as a podcast...everybody wins.
Just a suggestion, this would be awesome in a podcast format! Just something for you and John to consider in the future, really enjoy listening this stuff.
Thanks for talking about gun talk because i have never herd of it after listing to this i went a looked it up and i have to tell you he is almost as good as you lol.

Keep up the good work.

Just a suggestion, this would be awesome in a podcast format! Just something for you and John to consider in the future, really enjoy listening this stuff.

I got myself a 1911... scandium commander... with an external extractor.. and a full length guide rod.. It's close enough, right?

Driving a Volvo in TN!!!
That is impressive. Against the grain for sure.
Solid Tanks. Did you drive a 240, 740, or 940? Hopefully NOT a turbo.
My recently sold 240 had 340,000 miles and still pulled up hills no problem.
