The police cars in my town have the light bars the other way. instead of red on the passenger side, we have them on the drivers side. same for the blue. Cool video anyway
This is semi confusing. Transit authority behind a apparently civilian car that is behind a state trooper and no one is out of the vehicles. Why would a state cop need transit authority? What is TA doing here? TA can do anything they want to. So Now it becomes a TA jurisdiction . No holds barred now.
That had to give you a bit of a scare having a police car follow you. Happened to me once so far. I pulled out onto a road and then a minute later a cop was on my tail. Didn't use his siren either, I only noticed because I periodically check my rear-view mirror. Luckily he passed when I pulled over and proceeded to pull over the car in front of me, but my heart was still beating fast lol.
I was the driver and I did get out of his way. The thing is that I was exiting the highway and did not expect the cop to follow me (he did not use his blinkers for that purpose, as far as I can tell). Then we were in a curve so I drove on the right side of it, slowed down and he passed us easily. No big deal. Coming to a complete stop when your drive 50 mph in a highway exit is not instantaneous anyway.
@alcfeoh I was wondering about the sound. But you did fine. You didn't know which way he was going and when you got the chance you moved over to give him space to go around you. It's good that you didn't stop on the interstate because if you had, you could've created a collision that he would've had to stop and respond to instead of heading to his destination. I've seen it happen where people just stop in traffic and sit there instead of just giving the vehicle space to continue.
That was't Maryland State Police that passed you. It was the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Additionally, the law requires you to curb your vehicle and stop upon approach of an emergency vehicle. So regardless of what you think about "disturbing" the officer you still are required to stop.
@richardboy316 We let space on the left and we slowed down to make this cop's maneuver easier. Moreover, he didn't used his siren (you couldn't notice it because I removed the sound), so I think we didn't disturb this cop.
@AlphonseFreud .......... he doesnt have to. There are different types of responses. Code 3 is lights and siren, often times though, if they are close to a certain type of scenes, they arent supposed to use a siren.
