Someone once suggested that Gonzo sing this song on "The Muppet Show" with Boppity and Thog (two of the minor 'Muppet Show' monsters), with Animal being the 'and orange' Muppet. :)

pretty much. Like alot of songs on SS, frank does grovers voice then cookies seperatly. Then the muppet performers lip synch to the recorded song. Frank handles 1 muppet on stage then another guy handles the other

Frank was not the only performer to do Cookie Monster (and by the 1980s, he probably wasn't even the main one). I forget who else has voiced him, though! :-(

@hoopersghost Keep in mind, they recorded the soundtracks before doing the puppeteering. In a sense... they are lip-syncing.

Well, currently, David Rudman does him now, but Frank Oz occasionally comes back on the show to perform his old characters

Well, this is a pre-recorded song, which meant that Frank Oz recorded Grover and Cookie Monster's voices seperatly at different times. Frank is most likely puppeteering Grover and someone else is puppeteering Cookie lip-synching to Frank's pre-recorded voice. That also is the same case with Herry Monster and Frazzle who are both performed by Jerry Nelson. Jerry also recorded their voices seperatly. Hope this helps.

This is why I'm only letting my nephew watch old recordings from the GOOD episodes of Sesame Street. You can't get quality fun like this anymore on kids television.
