  • Great tone!

  • can't wait for my Klon clone to come in from JHS!!! its gonna sound sooooo good through my jackson ampworks! I keep reassuring myself by watching this video...

  • Brad, if you get this, please reach out. I've not heard from you in some time and have lost a pile of data. The Britain rules, 6L6's or EL-34's, it's a rockin unit my friend! Funny, I never spend much time on this site, but looking for something else, came across these videos. Forgot all about em... Been doing fly dates with INXS for a bit, having some fun with all those old tunes!

    Best Wishes Brad,

    George

  • the trem and slide work towards the end really sounds amazing. Robbie is a seriously underrated player. I would love to see him in more mags

  • Is it possible to explain the tone at minute 5:00 with the duece??? did he switch amps for more of a clean tone?? or just rolled back on the volume?? whatever that tone is, it's sooo clean and thick!

  • The black guitar is orgasmic !

  • What is the awesome black guitar that has pedal steel-type switches? That's pretty awesome.

  • @chrisdgoldie It's a Duesenberg guitar.

  • Robbie McIntosh is british?!?

  • i see a pete cornish!

  • Damn! Is that red-white guitar an Epiphone?!

  • @ooooters Yes, It's an old Epiphone Wilshire

  • @MrQuinceymagoo Looks more like a Coronet to me...

  • @MrQuinceymagoo It's an Epiphone Coronet, 61 I believe. (The double cut with P-90.) The Black guitar is a Duesenberg Double Cat with palm pedals.

  • It's surprising to him playing on Jackson amps!

  • One of the most underrated guitarists of all time.

  • 5:00 So beautiful!

  • fund203: It's a D-Tar Acoustic preamp. (unrelated to his electric guitar rig) it's for easy EQ'ing for when he's playing acoustic

  • @JacksonAmpworks The D-Tar was for the Dobro only. The Dobro had a magnetic, as well as a "spider" contact pick up. The D-tar worked great for mixing and EQing both pick ups down to a single direct channel out. George Bade (Robbie's tech at the time)

  • everybody likes the Klon....glad i bought one, gold w. graphic, sounds like money.

  • I almost clicked dislike so I could feel as out of my head as the two people who already clicked it.

  • What is that box next to the amp ?

  • the last bit of a song the ugly duckling think this is why hes smileing at the end

    think danny kay sang it

  • Seriously...these amps always sound soooooo good. man...great work. robbie's the boss btw.

  • i could listed to what ever comes out of those fingers all night!

  • 0:42 what's this tune again, it sounds familiar ?

  • @Coppertunes i wanna know too!

  • @MrJeremiahalexander For fun, Robbie used to play his arrangement of "The Ugly Duckling", as sung by Danny Kay in the 50's musical "Hans Christion Anderson". (Yes, sometimes in the middle of a John Mayer gig) "The Ugly Duckling" was originally a "Grimm" fairy tale, written in the nineteenth century. He always grinned when he played it, and it wasn't often, and I loved it every time!!!

  • 4:50 onwards is like listening to a choir of angels.

  • Go the Dues, woohoo!

  • can i hear the Klon please Mr Mcintosh.....show some respect!

  • @matchless3 I believe the cameraman is the maker of his major tone? the jackson amp that is.....

  • Robbie is at the top of the heap of great guitarists that are actively playing in the world today in my estimation. What an inspiration to old & new,of what heights can achieved thru practice and devoted listening. As a fan of Paul McCartney, I found Robbie's playing and style (guitarist/musicians) has taken me on journey that has opened many new doors and expanded my musical abilities through the love of The Beatles, Paul McCartney's and Robbie's music. Thank-you

Robbie and hope you are out

  • What tuning is he in when he switches to that 3rd guitar and does the lap steel sounding stuff??

  • @BluesmaNeedham

    Open D

  • that Klon is soooo freaking KILLER!!!!! AHHH that slide tone is absolutely perfect.

  • "I'm Gonna Find Another You" stuff on the second guitar he picks up.

  • goes on to show how IMPORTANT this GREAT GUITARIST is to JM's sound overall

  • What's he got on the deusenbergers bridge to change the pitch like that? Souunds incredible. Beautiful amp too!

  • @20firstcenturykid thats the duesenberg multibender bridge

  • I used to work in a music shop in Kingston Surrey (England) and Robbie was a customer .. played a Squier Strat then .. this was just around the time he joined The Pretenders .. he was previously in a local band called The Night. Really nice humble non-starry guy. I remember him walking me through the solo on "Kid" a priceless moment !!

  • What i would give to jam with that man. His set up is unreal.

  • I could listen to this guy play all day!

  • Awesome tone indeed. Hey Brad, is Robbie using the Britain in 15W or 50W mode? Is he running his delays in front of amp compression/distortion? By the way, congratulations on the new website!

  • Robbie is using the 50W mode. I have no idea about his effects order though. Thanks for the kind words!

  • @JacksonAmpworks I'm curious about the effects loop too, I have a THD amp that I love, but the loop is virtually useless. The delay sound he's using here is pretty clean and lively sounding, is this indicative of the tone quality of your loop(s)? Also, when will there be a working demo of the Atlantic? I REALLY want to hear it!

  • @JacksonAmpworks What speakers is Robbie using in the 2 x 12" cab?

  • @bwachter72 Yes he's awesome. The delay's running in the effects loop. As you can hear with the slide, he has a distortion and a delay as background, so it's a loop :D

  • @giorgiocesaroni It's not looped, it's a straight up daisy chain.

  • @Guitar101George How do you know that?

  • @giorgiocesaroni I was Robbies guitar tech for both "Continuum" and "Battle Studies" tours. I built it, old school style. When Robbie toured with McArtney in the early 90's, he used a midi rig built by Pete Cornish, who is now semi retired. Good man Pete.

    George

  • @giorgiocesaroni PS I highly recommend the Klon. Very pricey, but worth it. Jeff Beck uses one as well... It's always "on". FYI there is a big difference in "over drive" and "distortion" pedals. It also matters a great deal what order the pedals are placed in a "daisy chain" situation.

    G

  • @Guitar101George Oh man... can you give me an email? (send me as a private message) I'd like very much to talk to you a little! If you can :)

  • @Guitar101George Do you know what tuning and what the the strings and intervals he sets his palm pedals for?

    -G

  • @GEM88882003 Open D (DADF#AD shape, I think) Palm pedals were set to bend up the F# one half step, and the A one full step. I haven't even seen that axe in 3 years, so that's my best recollection.

    Geo

  • @GEM88882003 Keep in mind he didn't always bend "full in", and was playing slide as well. Words can't explain it...

  • Awesome tone!
