Dude you need to place something soft between the forend of the rifle and that wooden rest otherwise the rifle will 'bounce' under recoil spoiling your groups. Nice rifle by the way! :-)
@dh5freak the tikka is really light and kicks harder because of it, but is a very solid and accurate weapon. vanguard is heavier and cheaper by aprox 300 bucks, and has a super nice action. they are both good, it depends on your application...
Yeah, that is Belmont in Brissy, and I'd agree on that being one of their load rifles.
Interesting to see that they allow Highland ammo to be used when the old guy behind the counter there says that Weatherby Vanguards don't like Highland ammo at all. They normally only let you use American Eagle in their Vanguards. (unless that's just with the .223's). Either way, I think the old guy with the white beard, who works at Belmont, tends to talk out of his a-hole a bit.
I have the same rifle, my stock is the tan drab with black spider webs on it. with over ten years in the military and year after year of qualifing, .223 sux any kind compared to the weatherby vanguard .22-250. sharp looking rifle-heavy barrel, it shoots strait as an arrow to about 250 yrds. i buy the winchester box of rounds 40 for $38. dirt cheap. just watch the barrel, after 5 rounds back to back, the barrel gets warm. don't let your barrel get to hot to touch! holla. d.
yeah your alone. with your .308 scout rifle. probley a kid? .223 AR15 USMC.... trade it any day for .22-250. round travels without much fall, round is thinner, the windage is easier to adjust. but then again, YOUR a little off. clown.
Weatherby Vanguard = Howa 1500 but more expensive.

Nice mate. I'm going to get my huntinglicense the 18/5. :)
And I'm thinking of buying a Tikka T3 Hunter or a Weatherby Vanguard. Which one do you think is the best rifle?
