Hi Andrew, this is a wonderful video ! We grow our own vegetables in pots on our roof-deck with moderate success. Here are a couple of website/magazines you may want to explore mother earth news and organic gardening both full of useful information on growing foods. Enjoy! dean
Hi Andrew,..I saw this a few days ago or better and was interrupted.....I loved it--they are like underground "treasure" to me, root veggies....I never have had success, growing them, (gophers!) -it is easier to buy taters from local growers--I love your wonderful sharing/guitar! I can almost smell the dirt, and meadow..are the tiniest ones eaten? here they are gourmet, and called fingerlings! .... hope you are not too cold there. and Happy Holidays to you..mine is a quiet one, & OK by me;-)
Hi Andrew. Wonderful video. Something so gratifying about seeing those potatoes, their small but assertive heft, crusts of dirt. Farmer Norris, I really enjoy, too, seeing that scythe and pitchfork technique. The corn is so beautifully filmed/shot. I feel right in there amid the husks. Our corn season is now over, but I'm inspired to make some corn salsa, corn relish, creamy soups... Well done. :)
@HerAeolianHarp I like it when people are inspired by my films to cook something, especially something seasonal. I am still having a few rendering problems, not getting smooth pans, and this can be seen especially in those close-up corn picking scenes, but gratifying certainly eating what you have picked or dug from the soil itself.
Very interesting Andrew and some wonderful views - especially of the slatted barn where the corn wrappings were stored with the sunlight slanting through. I often wondered how the sweetcorn was taken off the cob - now I've seen the process in action! On an estate near here they had a sweetcorn maze once the corn had been harvested - exciting for the children.
Beautiful, Andrew! While harvesting sweetcorn and potatoes, they (and you, by filming it and talking about it) are harvesting their life in your beautiful village. The tranquility is even perceptible in Holland. My compliments for this wonderful upload.
@ourDC888 Thank you so much for your kind comment, I like the way you phrased it, and it is even more gratifying knowing the calmness reached all the way to Holland and your home. Appreciate it.
Love this...the sight of sunshine....great healthy food....I wonder how log the hand gathering will go on.? Dog loves it all too. ERM...How come your veg patches are so weedy...Andrew boy ? lol
@xyzllii Actually, the vegetable patch was just out of sight, fenced, raised beds, honestly! The potatoes were an afterthought so I put them just outside. The beds can be seen in an earlier film, Before the rain. My beautiful dog, Lucy, loves being in the country, well, who wouldn't! Glad you enjoyed it too.
@andrewnorris2 Oh i was jus kiddin about the weeds...as if I could talk..lol...it's a constant battle...i am sure your veggie patch is impeccable..I can't grow spuds anyway...they always get the worm..or blight or whatever it is..
Another wonderful video, and how coincidental that potatoes are fascinating us both!

@JamieDean Thanks, yes, it is surprising how much one can grow in small spaces, even in pots, and it is always very satisfying. Thanks for watching.

@cavafyinenglish Thanks, Charles, I think a sweetcorn maze, or a maize maze, would be pretty exciting for adults too. Glad to see you here anyway.
