  • Did you work anyone?

  • @Biffbradford Yes, I did, once I built an external broadcast filter between the antenna input and the antenna. The idea was ditched to use this antenna, because once it leaves the vertical position (directly up) the radiation pattern turns to $%@#. A quarter wave performs better when that happens and tests have proven this, between a number of stations at various times. The end fed half wave is the best performer. Thanks for your question and for dropping by. 73, Steph.

  • The problems with front end overload is because there is no BC filter in this particular unit. (It's an old/early prototype which doesn't have one...)

The counterpoise is in essence capacitively coupled to the water table few feet down below. Operating maritime mobile might be interesting.....

    Thanks for dropping by. 73.

  • Have you ever tried using the ocean as a counterpoise as opposed to the radials? I can't find much info on this practice but am wondering about it because of a large pier my family has access to in Maryland, US. I see you have problems because of the amount of signal and I am guessing the ocean as a counterpoise would only increase this?

    Good Videos!
