He created a new genre of music that has led to many great bands like Flogging Molly, Black 47, and a ton of others. More importantly, the Pogues have revived interest in Irish folk music and some of the best singers ever fall into that genre. Regardless of what you think of his current ability on stage, you can not ignore the brilliance of his songwriting.
