man all videos of your are both interesting and important for every level of web designer, i m so thankful i stumbled upon your channel and subscribed, the advice which you are giving people charge huge amount for that and u are doing it for free, thats what i call giving back to the community, i m so grateful to hear ur advice and thanks a ton! God bless you, may u succeed million times more!
Don't hire a webdesigner ? Yes their are different prices depending on what you need.
Go ahead and pay some "friend" 150$ to make your site, or do it yourself, or buy a wordpress template, but by doing that, you're company will not be "unique".
Also by hiring a professional, he knows exactly how to show what you want to your users via your website, knows what to do and what not to do.
Try using stock images which have not been bought before (order by downloads-ascending in any of the agency search engines), you could also use tine-eye or google image search to check for existence on the web on any comp of a stock photo... or even actually pay more than a few dollars for a stock photo and buy it rights-managed or for exclusive use.
It's more expensive, but it's still cheaper than setting up your own shoot for every website or commissioning a photographer on assignment.
Good points Mike! I have created sleek and professional web images with regular / basic camera and sometimes even my cell phone camera -- but got lots of help from Photoshop. Having creativity and some Photoshop skill, almost any photo can be improved and enhanced.
I know some photography from classes at school, but what would be a good camera to buy that is not too expensive, but still worthwhile and will give high quality images?
Good tools are always important and help a craftsman do a better job. However good tools do not make the craftsman. The same is true of photography and most other things. Photography is a learned art which for some is more natural then others.
it looks like you used a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 lens to take those photos.. really nice bokeh in the background, something i don't think the stock lens could have created.
I really want to learn photography beyond the basics this year. Taking my own shots is something I have wanted to do for a long time, especially since I have access to some pretty decent camera equipment.
-- Basic photography skills lets you distance yourself from the competition. There are a lot of website designers. There are lot of photographers. There are fewer designers with photography skills. Besides, what happens when a client wants product photos or photos of a team for an 'about' page?
-- Custom photography can help you be a more creative designer. Designers often design around their images. Taking custom photos gives you control over the entire site. The best sites I've seen tell a compelling story and rarely do stock images, with their canned nature, accomplish exactly what you're trying to say.

why I hate web designers...
yes you are right, to make a site with some functions they ask to me 10.000 euro and 2 months. I made in 20 days and spend 250 euro...and it's mine

Same with Web Design. Don't hire a web site designer, do it yourself or give your friend $100s to design it.

Would you (or anyone) be able to suggest a relatively high quality camera for a graphic design student with a budget of around £100?

I agree, they're not very original are they? Just hire a photographer or take your own. simple.
Images can always be edited.
