There was NO SWAT team, that was all crap made up by Mullet's lawyer. The sheriff and one female deputy approached the school house with court orders to retrieve the two children. It was AFTER the teacher gathered up the students, left by the back door & walked to Sam Mullet's house, that the Sheriff called for back-up deputies to help cover him. (Mullet's son had threatened to kill the sheriff many times previously). Sheriff Abdalla was VERY careful to NOT scare the children.

The Amish do have Rumspringa which enables the teens to learn about the outside world etc. etc. If the gov't thinks there is a particular problem, they can attempt to dialogue with the Amish leaders about the cycle of sexual abuse, how to recognize it, and what to do about it. Other than that, the police can only make charges when they have a case.

I've received several phone calls over the last week from distant Amish family members (yes, they will use a phone when necessary), wanting to know if we've seen any of their loved ones still living under Sam's thumb. Christmas time is always the hardest for them, not knowing if their son, daughter, sister, or brother is ok. We've been told that Sam has several vacant homes/buildings that he locks up anyone who goes against his word for a length of time, till they relent to him.
Weddings and other family gatherings in distant communities are a great source of meeting new people for Amish youth. You are correct. Right now, the children in this specific community have no choices for their future. This is what concerns me the most of all. Just an update on this matter. This custody issue was settled by the courts. The children were NOT allowed to stay with their mother, who lives with Sam Mullet (her father). The children are living happily with their father in another state. The mother is allowed to visit with them, but not at her father's house.
More people have left this community...Sam's son left just a couple months ago, Eli and his wife and children are now safe and happy again..I hope they can adapt to a real Amish community..they have been in a false Amish community for a few years now...This Berholz community won't survive...more and more stories are getting out about Sam, and the things he's doing to members of this community..and they are finally beginning to see the light..Thank God!!!

Call it good or bad, I label Emanual just as manipulative as most other contractors. They show for the easiest jobs, that they can make the most $ off of, do it as quickly and cheap as possible, to get to the next $1,500 job that only takes them 1/2 day to do. And then take on a 1/2 other dozen jobs, leaving customers on hold, as he brings in the bucks from the better paying jobs he can jump on.
I can't even say he did excellent work at the beginning. His brothers would get on his case for taking shortcuts back then. I've seen him try to pull the wool over a few people, where he did shoddy work, and he almost got a black eye when he did it. Their goal, as with most contractors, is to do a job, make the most $ off it, and do it as quickly and as cheap as possible, and then go shop for the most profitable jobs they can find.

Seems to me that his brothers were doing pretty well too, they bought property and built new houses and barns. He did pay them properly. Since his brothers all fled, he has been using his sons for a work crew, I've beent told that ol Sam won't let any of his boys work with Emmanual, kind of Sam's way to try to teach Emmanual a lesson. Emmanual hasn't been totally compliant with Sam's ways.
It amazes me how the amish can have $100K+ homes, when you factor in the barns, property etc, and get up in the middle of the night, walk away, go somewhere else and build another 100K property before they sell the first one. Not a single family that left here (that I am aware of) has built another big house like they had here, since they left. All the Shrocks have had to rent propertys for the first years they left. Two of the brothers have finally bought small olders farms/houses, much smaller than they had here. I've been there, I've seen in person. They are all trying hard to rebuild their lives.

Sam refused to let them leave. At a later time, he hired a driver, tricked Aden into getting into the van, and had Aden driven to western PA where Aden's family had moved to, and simply dropped Aden off. Aden sought legal advice and filed for custody of his daughters. He felt it was not safe for his children be living at Sam's. Rightfully so, Sam's son had been threatening the local sheriff's life and had threatened to shoot his own father, he was having mental issues too. Another son had confessed to the rape of a 12 yr old girl and molestation of several young boys. Aden was concerned about the safety of his children. I think in the back of his mind, he was thinking Wilma might leave too.
The court awarded temporary custody of the daughters to Aden. This whole youtube video is about the day that the sheriff tried to serve papers to Wilma and retrieve the children. Aden was about 2 miles away that day, waiting for the sheriff to bring the girls to him. The sheriff did NOT show up with the SWAT teamn, he went to the schoolhouse with 2 deputies, one was a woman to take care of the girls. When Wilma panicked and walked to Sam's house, that is when the sheriff called for backup.
The sheriff DID take backup to Sam's house. Rightfully so, as Sam's son, Eli, had threatened to kill the sheriff many times (another story). Sam played all this up, and right into the media to garner attention. The girls were calmly taken to Aden that day. Later in court Wilma told that the issue of Aden/incest was all a vision. The judge listened to DAYS of testimony from the Mulletts and many of the people that moved away. In the end, custody was awarded to Aden permenantly.
Wilma is allowed visitation, but the children are NOT allowed at Sam's house. This is heartbreaking for both Aden and Wilma I am sure. Yes, she could leave and be with Aden (whom it is said she loves sincerely still), but her father has told her (and the court) that IF she leaves, she can NEVER come back, can never have contact with any of her family, absolutely not. She lives under his control, and I have no idea how this will turn out. Hopefully this will shed a little light about this story.

One of his grown sons recently left. He had tried at least 3 times in the last several years but his father literally got in the way each time. There was NO SWAT team, that was all crap made up by Mullet's lawyer. The sheriff and one female deputy approached the school house with court orders to retrieve the two children. It was AFTER the teacher gathered up the students, left by the back door & walked to Sam Mullet's house, that the Sheriff called for back-up deputies to help cover him. (Mullet's son had threatened to kill the sheriff many times previously). Sheriff Abdalla was VERY careful to NOT scare the children.

I've received several phone calls over the last week from distant Amish family members (yes, they will use a phone when necessary), wanting to know if we've seen any of their loved ones still living under Sam's thumb. Christmas time is always the hardest for them, not knowing if their son, daughter, sister, or brother is ok. You are correct. Right now, the children in this specific community have no choices for their future. This is what concerns me the most of all. They are being raised in this very dysfunctional close-knit group, with NO idea of the outside world, and being told that all "english" (anyone not amish) will harm them. If the State did not make tons of $ from tourism from the "amish" they would be looked upon and handled like any other fruitcake group thats told "how to go potty :outhouse" who their friends can be, how they have to dress, how long their counter top can be, etc. And that is a CULT when a leader controls all of these aspects of your life (including what color your house can be!) Just an update on this matter. This custody issue was settled by the courts. The children were NOT allowed to stay with their mother, who lives with Sam Mullet (her father). The children are living happily with their father in another state. The mother is allowed to visit with them, but not at her father's house.

On another note, I ran into someone else who said they had two bad references about houses and buildings the "amsterdam" group built. As far as I know, Schrock and the Grand Pubah are the only two construction groups left, so I'm not sure if they were refering to one or both of these contractors. I agree, everyone should be free to do what they want. Call it good or bad, I label Emanual just as manipulative as most other contractors. They show for the easiest jobs, that they can make the most $ off of, do it as quickly and cheap as possible, to get to the next $1,500 job that only takes them 1/2 day to do. And then take on a 1/2 other dozen jobs, leaving customers on hold, as he brings in the bucks from the better paying jobs he can jump on.

I can't even say he did excellent work at the beginning. His brothers would get on his case for taking shortcuts back then. I've seen him try to pull the wool over a few people, where he did shoddy work, and he almost got a black eye when he did it. Their goal, as with most contractors, is to do a job, make the most $ off it, and do it as quickly and as cheap as possible, and then go shop for the most profitable jobs they can find.

Seems to me that his brothers were doing pretty well too, they bought property and built new houses and barns. He did pay them properly. Since his brothers all fled, he has been using his sons for a work crew, I've beent told that ol Sam won't let any of his boys work with Emmanual, kind of Sam's way to try to teach Emmanual a lesson. Emmanual hasn't been totally compliant with Sam's ways.

It amazes me how the amish can have $100K+ homes, when you factor in the barns, property etc, and get up in the middle of the night, walk away, go somewhere else and build another 100K property before they sell the first one. Not a single family that left here (that I am aware of) has built another big house like they had here, since they left. All the Shrocks have had to rent propertys for the first years they left. Two of the brothers have finally bought small olders farms/houses, much smaller than they had here. I've been there, I've seen in person. They are all trying hard to rebuild their lives.

Aden sought legal advice and filed for custody of his daughters. He felt it was not safe for his children be living at Sam's. Rightfully so, Sam's son had been threatening the local sheriff's life and had threatened to shoot his own father, he was having mental issues too. Another son had confessed to the rape of a 12 yr old girl and molestation of several young boys. Aden was concerned about the safety of his children. I think in the back of his mind, he was thinking Wilma might leave too.

The court awarded temporary custody of the daughters to Aden. This whole youtube video is about the day that the sheriff tried to serve papers to Wilma and retrieve the children. Aden was about 2 miles away that day, waiting for the sheriff to bring the girls to him. The sheriff did NOT show up with the SWAT teamn, he went to the schoolhouse with 2 deputies, one was a woman to take care of the girls. When Wilma panicked and walked to Sam's house, that is when the sheriff called for backup.

The sheriff DID take backup to Sam's house. Rightfully so, as Sam's son, Eli, had threatened to kill the sheriff many times (another story). Sam played all this up, and right into the media to garner attention. The girls were calmly taken to Aden that day. Later in court Wilma told that the issue of Aden/incest was all a vision. The judge listened to DAYS of testimony from the Mulletts and many of the people that moved away. In the end, custody was awarded to Aden permenantly.

Wilma is allowed visitation, but the children are NOT allowed at Sam's house. This is heartbreaking for both Aden and Wilma I am sure. Yes, she could leave and be with Aden (whom it is said she loves sincerely still), but her father has told her (and the court) that IF she leaves, she can NEVER come back, can never have contact with any of her family, absolutely not. She lives under his control, and I have no idea how this will turn out. Hopefully this will shed a little light about this story.

All Amish are cults. Anyone dumb enough to follow some leader, and if you don't cut your hair a certain way, and have to wear clothes like everyone else. No difference between the Amish and nazi's, both groups were stupid and followed their leader.

Now, that other Amish groups ban this bishop (even if I might agree with the banning), MEANS NOTHING!!! We dont have "amish headquarters" (like Rome for the romish, or Salt Lake city for the fake mormons). Who says whats official amish doctrine? There is freedom for each congregation and the bishop of each area decides what goes. Which is better than having the Pope decide, from the "eternal city of seven hills". If the pope decided they would all be dead now, for being hereticks. God help us.

Who decides what is brainwashing? The Pope? God forbid. The definition of Brainwashing according to a lesbian is different than the one according to an Amish man. To an Amish man we outsiders are corrupt, for the most part bound to hell, disobedient to parents, sensual, lacking discipline, frivolous, proud, violent, lazy, promiscuous. (And I tend to agree). For the lesbian, theres a need to "free" these kids from "brainwashing." Each should decide how to manage his OWN kids. Not Strangers.

I might agree with you on that what he says or tells might be wrong, BUT if you make it illegal then you break the constitution (which is already broken). REALIZE, the government cant even take care of the kids they are in charge of! I would probably rather marry a girl of this group than a public school average girl who slept with half the town! Assaults happen everyday in public schools and noone raids them! I bet they are more common in public schools. Are you a christian? what denomination?

Pay attention, I am NOT talking about Amish in general, NOT the total cummulative American Amish community. I am talking about the BERGHOLZ Amish group ONLY. Tell which family in this group that you think earns over 100 grand. Yea right. Even ol Sam Mullet doesn't pull in that much money. Last I heard, they are really hurting for money. Mullet mortaged his farm to the max to pay legal fees.

I guess you have never seen how these boys milk customers. Go get an estimate from one of their constuction companies, then call a lumber yard and say you are going to do the same project and see how much materials cost. 1/2 of anything they build is labor/profit. These guys are very astute business men, and know how to tac on charges here and there to pad their wallets very well. I take it they must have fooled you into contributing to their poverty fund? LOL
