  • So Lupe decided one day to start rappin on a deeper level cuz he realized his gangsta tracks weren't helping the general community much. What I wanna is how the hell did he (maybe not so much) suddenly pull it off? When Lupe spits deep you know it, nothing of his is weak (minus mixtapes and Lasers) in that regard.

Reading up his history makes sense on how he can think like that but I wanna know how he made that transition

  • lupe knows how it is in chicago

  • i fucks wit lupe his hot

  • Lupe is like the friend that you tell a joke to, and he's like that shit sucked, but then later when he's among a group of friends he steals that shit and said he came up with it himself. Piece of shit.

  • @charles101993 what the fuck are u on about Lupe is a legend!

  • @charles101993 so, who did he take his music from?

  • @zeinizim modest mouse

  • @charles101993 but he did credit the song's that have samples

  • @charles101993 Why do you say that?

  • @seethroughshit Rips beats and shit modest mouse

  • Rap sucks but he has some good tracks with Matthew Santos.

  • LOVE Lupe and his music we need more lyrical rappers like him around

  • If u listen to his old tracks he spits some real gangster shit, completely different from now. Its still really good though haha

  • Lupe represents <3

  • LOL! I think because he's more out there with the younger people like me he feels he shouldn't spit that type of material like "Gangsta Up In Here" or "Ooh" OR "Afterlife" THE LIST GOES ON! But now my mothers able to listen to his stuff, so kudos to my main man Lupe.

  • gotta eat and the die were pretty gangsta to me lyricly

  • @TheDominicfly if u look at The Cool as a concept album, they had to be pretty gritty. The main character of the album decided to play the game and sell gangsta rap, he then got caught up in the foolishness of the game, in which he ended up getting got (The Die)

  • Was that top comment coming from Birdman? Wow....

  • "Who me? Now? HELL NO"

  • Lupe is the realest person in the game.

  • @TheFiascoHD yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i Hate People Like that Who Be Like just Bcuz your not Hood and Some BS u cant be a Rapper or Real ya Know it Ain't where you from its How you Live. or Living

  • NO!!!! LUPE = SEEEXXXXYYYYYY(:

  • "Please Check Out K.Briggs NEW "I Got Something On My Chest" Freestyle! promise no dissapointment! Spread Love Its The Brooklyn Way!"

  • Lupe is not like these other assholes who rap about shit, Jay Z burn, you too lil wayne!

Eminem does swear but it is the intensity to spread the message of inspiration, and love and how to treat one another!

    So Lupe and Eminem! RULE!

  • @MHS032 you obviously haven't listened to a lot of eminem because everyone knows his shit is grotesque, if neon will burn its em

  • @MHS032 if you think eminem is inspirational..... oh kid you should choose better inspirations. lil waynes songs are just jiberish and stupid, you should put some more thought into your words.

  • @footballer4life22 Why dont you listen to music in the first place, I listened to ONE LUPE AND EMINEM SONG and i liked them :)

  • my baby!!! <3 i love this guy!!

  • MAYBE BECAUSE THE REAL LUPE FIASCO OWNS ALL OF THE GANGS..............DMV

  • you live in the hood area?.. "me, now, helll nawwhh" lmao loved it.

  • Lupe is so fucking cool (not The Cool, though)

  • "The worst thing you can do in this world is leave people a strey, they take youre lessons and live thier lives thru em" loved that response

  • Comment removed

  • SO mych respect for this guy!!!

  • I love the amt of people that post how they'd beat Lupe's ass . . . Not even realizing that if you follow Lupe, he's actually a black belt... in more than one style, including weapons. The biggest problem any fighter can face is underestimating their opponent based on image alone.

  • well we already see that @1BlakMoney lupe is realer thn u. u can be a positive rapper, and come out the ghetto. come visit memphis, where i live, and been livn at my whole life. u aint gotta rap about sellin crack, fuckin hoes, shootin niggas. they the reason y ppl dyin. y would u choose that ova somethn positive. its stupid the way rappers act. i do kno that wen i get up out my ghetto, that imma bring smethn positive to the world.

  • nawl you stopped speaking that shit cause u den never live it

  • man im from chicago. and hes right. if you say youre not in a gang people will look at you like you stupid. or you may get beat up for being scared to tell what gang youre in. and yes yo basically cant come outside unless youre part of a gang. or you wont make it. hes right

  • if only the worthless Fox news have a fractional of this man's integrity at 0:42

  • @jpmorgan187

    Fox "news"

  • I like B.o.B too. He's alot like lupe

  • Lupe is the realness- he's responsible, and has courage that can only be motivated by love. In my opinion he's unquestionably the best any way you slice it, technically and otherwise. 'You gotta be educated when goin' against the grain, the truth is limitless in it's range" Lupe Fiasco

  • As a person who dosent listen to rap or hip hop very often at all I must say that when a friend said I should check out conflict diamonds, i did, when i first heard lupe on that track instantly his deminer caught my attention, not just another ghetto to stardome hood rat talking about guns, drugs, cars and bling. He speaks about real issues that are otherwise ignored in our society. Good eye opener for the sheltered masses, Eminem youve been knocked to #2 in my book, Kanye your still last

  • If only every mainstream rapper took this same path. use lyrics for positivity instead of negativity.

  • He is Real. Lovin Lupe

  • the man!

  • lmao now hell naw ??????

  • Big ups to everyone who made it off da block. We can't hustle for ever. Every man/woman want's to provide for them and their family a better life! Big ups to everyone still in the hustle. Sometimes you may not want to take the option provided to you but keep in mind it's still an option.

  • @PatriciaD96 lol yup, but that's what the hood does to you, less you can resist the fiery deluge

  • "The worst thing you can do in this world is lead people astray" - Lupe Fiasco

  • He's a real inspiration , all these other "rappers" need to put tracks like his out there , maybe then people wouldn't be as ignorant as they are now .

  • This brother has shaken off his mental shackles his slave master tried to place on him and chosen not to conform to those powers of ignorance and dumbing down which continue plauge our people. He stood like a REAL MAN and chosen not to put out garbage about stuff that doesn't matter. Wake up Black People and get off the plantation!

  • lupe pussy as fuck id slap his nose off his face

  • @batalarabe talk mad tough you probly cant do shit

  • @abigfans shut up fag lupes pussy he like 2 feet tall 100 pounds

  • @batalarabe who the fuck you listen to...well idontgiveafuckboy i dont care what asshole you listen to

  • @abigfans 2pac c-bo spice 1 x-raided luni coleone woodie

  • @batalarabe That doesn't even make sense . Get off the internet and go read a book .

  • @PatriciaD96 how doesnt that make sense u lupe dickridin bitch i got the power to knock that niggas eyes right off his dome

  • @batalarabe Wow , your choice of words amuse me .

  • @PatriciaD96 good

  • @batalarabe - Oh, shut up; you wouldn't do anything.

  • @Bound2Reality lupes pretty skinny id beat that nigga ass

  • @batalarabe - If you say so.

  • @Bound2Reality hes clearly not a tough dude, nuthin wrong wit tht ik hundreds of people who wud fuck his shit up

  • @birdman285 Physically? No, he doesn't appear to be tough; but, I'm going to quote Mark Twain here by saying 'It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.' Ever heard this before?

  • @Bound2Reality rapper vs golden gloves boxer... who has the bigger size physically and mentally?

  • @birdman285 It depends on who they are.

  • @Bound2Reality thats so real

  • @birdman285 , Yeah, he looks the same build as L'il Wayne: not much to his pint size. The only solution is that Fiasco raps to bring us black people up while Wayne brings us down.

  • LASERS!

  • Lupe's amazing. On an unrelated note he kind of looks like Samuel L. Jackson in this clip.

  • For people who hated on this were wnna b ganstas

  • So, was Lupe saying the subjects of his lyrics were different a little while before 'Food & Liquor' came out?

So, his music reflected some of the "gangster rap" he grew up listening to?

He changed his output to give others better input? How nice and selfless of the guy!

  • LupEvolution ---------> Going from human to supernatural any moment now. 50 Cent evolution <---------------- going the opposite way. If he keeps rapping, he's the biggest threat to turn humans back to apes.

  • He Lived in THE HOOD

  • GO TO FACEBOOK AND SEARCH LUPE FIASCO FOR PRESIDENT AND LIKE THE PAGE

  • Lupe: "Prostitution, drugs, gangs, violence"

Interviewer: "How do avoid the Lifestyle"

    Lupe: "I avoided it"

This is what rap is about, and this guy should be the definitio of hip hop, Lupe what a legend!

  • @NikeAirzForce1 he didnt say dat he said "i didnt who said i avoided it" .....

  • @lilPAYASO545 My bad, but u gta admit, he is what raps about, he's now against all this stuff

  • @NikeAirzForce1 He said, "I didn't. Who said I avoided it?"

  • See this is what we need in music, more intelligent, honest, positive people like Lupe. There isn't anything better than positivty and intelligence, Lupe is a true rapper that talks about things in life that we can relate too. The other rappers could really learn something from someone as brilliant as lupe.

  • Lupe, much respect to you. You are part of a handful of unique rappers who talks about something positive. You deserve a lot more credit.

  • Lupe=Grown Man

  • @winwithgrn Lil Wayne= Justin Bieber

  • @zmalik10 It does.lol

  • @zmalik10 LOL!!!

  • @zmalik10 LIL WAYNES A LESBIAN!? I fucking knew it!

  • @Axcelerated Yupp

  • the ink of a scholar is worth a thousand times more than the blood of a martyr

  • @8787natedogg naw i highly disagree that statement, most martyr have penmanship anyways and then them dying changed everything

  • @CAW118 American Terrorist lyrics

  • Lupe is so true. This guy never ceases to amaze me when it comes to his lyrics and his work ethic. He is an honest and humble man, and for that he has earned my respect. Greetings from Mexico, Wasalu!

  • i wish more folks in the biz would have this realization and step up to being griots, uplifting folks with the art on some Black Arts Movement and not on some self destruction cultivation wackness...

  • positive is what we all want not hurt or negativity.

  • the worst thing you can do in this world is lead people astray..

    gotdamn Lupe

  • i got that sweet poster in the background

  • OH MY GOD THIS HELLA PISSES ME OFF!! how many FUCKIN times do we cross this??? WAYNE is NOT HIP HOP, he is RAP fucken RAP!!

  • lupe used to talk g shit when he was in a group back in the chi.

  • Lupe is kewl; I have a great deal of respect for him.

  • upmost respect to Lupe Fiasco,..genuine good person..changed for the better for the people....most artists don't do that...he practically changed before he blew up, because leading people down the wrong path is 100% somethin to regret...much Love and Respect Lupe Fiasco.

  • future USA president,LUPE THE MAN!

  • @ardithe1 lol no

  • "Do you live in the hood?" "Now? Hell Naw" lmao

  • @MrAfromusic Exactly. All of these rappers that want to make a quick buck go for the "drug" game in rap which is just pumping out meaningless tracks with hot beats to make some fast cash. Talking about hustling and always being in the hood and just loving that life. Ya Ross loves selling so much that he got out of the hood as quickly as possible to be an entertainer. Hip Hop has a big influence in ghettos and garbage rap is sending taking advantage of the fiend infested environment. No one want

  • @MrAfromusic No one in the right conscious really wants to be a victim of that environment. And once a person makes it out of that env. and is just looking to stunt on people, the music turns out to be a part of the cycle. Making a quick buck off of meaningless music that promotes people to stay down where they are at so they can use some of their drug money on your next garbage CD. It's the easiest hustle there is so AC Hood etc go for the $ not seeing the bigger picture like Lupe. LupeIsLegenD

  • and this is why i love lupe cause he dont have to be like everyone else

  • I'm in love.

  • @nannyanny3 I honestly feel the same way!!! :)

  • @NonnnnO92 :) Glad to know I'm not the only one that appreciates a MAN like this :)

  • how do you dislike this video

  • People can't handle truth? What truth, that we need to change our mindstate, that we have senseless killings, that in black communities we can't live worry free because young people are ignorant and it's elders have given up on em. The truth is, I'm about sick and tired of this gangsta rap stuff, seriously. Second when gangsta rap did hit the rap scene it was not like what N.w.a. was and that was also the media labeling it gangsta rap

  • @MrElvinj thats true i feel what you saying. you will prob like my song if you like truth take a listen let me know what you think

  • Rappers that glamorize gun play usually haven't been a victim of it, but I will say that rap and especially 'gangsta rap' has shed light on many of our children's hopes, wishes, fears, & horrors that middle and upper middle class Americans didn't believe were even possible let alone evident until they started hitting the news. That's the positive, the negative is what's evident and obvious about 'gangsta rap', its influence over young minds looking to connect with something or someone.

  • @BiggIshh702 Not anymore. Maybe in the 2pac days but now gangster rap glamorizes the murder, drug selling and torture of our women. That's why I used to love Pac. He talked about thugging but he rarely talked about selling drugs or destroying our community with drugs to make a profit. Today these rappers are leading our your astray. I grew up on PE, tribe called quest. The gangster rappers used to be far and few between. Now they have flooded the market. Positive messages get buried.

  • Lupe used to spit gangsta shit on his early mixtapes. Granted they were much better bars than most of these "gansta" rappers out.

    Just listen to Absolute Freestyle

"you know my mind remain on gunplay/ while y'all niggas sleep like jermaine on sunday/ the heat stay packed like the train on monday"

If that isn't rapping about guns I don't know what is.

Still I'm a fan FNF all day

  • LUPEEEEEEEE

  • lupe the most gangsta u just dont know it! Killuminati!

  • People who dont know hip hop will think its all gangsta just like people who dont know rock music think its all killing, being evil and worshiping devil because im pretty sure its definitely not although i dont know rock, like when lil wayne put out that rock album i dont listen to wayne but i know all his fans were like you see this is rock but its not, wat if a rock artist put out a rap album jus sayin "yo yo yo bitch im gonna kill you" its just sterotypical shit

  • wich song is it at the end

  • @Outlawz10BB "Dumb It Down"

  • Lupe's sick.

  • LUPE!!!

  • Hood music= Blind leading blind. I hate living in a world where the majority has to be dumbasses and the knowledgeable are the minority.

  • @Trill104 i hear that...but the minority always win..A;WAYS......

the patternof the world is moses aginsts pharoah...........seems impossible but truth whether acknowleded by only one person will always truimpph..

YOU THINK PPL BELIEVING THE EARTH WAS FLAT, CAUSE THE EARTH TO CHANGE SHAPE 1CM....

  • @Trill104 I know, right? And it's even worse...the majority (the dumb people) act like THEY'RE right, and try and look at you funny. Sigh. I remember hearing once that we're living in a world where wrong is right and right is wrong. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now, as I get older, I'm beginning to realize that that's one of the most true things I've ever heard.

  • "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me." Period.

He grew up (like we all should) and put the foolishness of his youth behind him. Real talk. He speaks of progression and not regression which most people don't understand that's why niggas question his "street cred.".

You know how they do - "Sitting in the project hallways talking about how they be in the projects all day..."

  • @crysta2k2 1 Corinthians 13:11

Word. or should i say Living Word.

  • its becuz hes not gangsta duh

  • Lil Wayne is garbage, people just need to stop talking about him.

  • he used the word "grand"! how awesome is lupe? i'm gonna feel less nerdy when i use it now.

  • my favorite rappers

1.Eminem- just because he is mainstream doenst mean he sucks. he gots lots of strong songs/lyrics

2.Lupe Fiasco-he has ALOT of great song.

    3.B.O.B-same greats songs

4.Kid Cudi- some of his songs have really hit me.

these are my favorite rappers and if you listen to there music all of them have great music and talk about real shit.

  • @jr4chargers I agree those are all great artists

  • Put it like dis smart people listen to Lupe dumb or ignorant listen to lil Wayne

  • Lupe Fiasco's song "Dumb it Down", in my opinion, is a subliminal diss to rappers like Wayne, who talk about degrading women, making a milli, and drugs. If Lil Wayne is at the top because he talks about shit like that, then hip hop is dead. Lupe doesn't even care about being the best, listen to "Hurt Me Soul".

  • if wayne is so wack than why is he at the top of the rap game and lupe isnt? yall keep saying lupe is underrated and all that but the point is NOBODY wants to hear what he has to say. Sure he says "real" shit but i dont want to hear that all day my life is bad enough. I'd rather listen to wayne, who would take me to a place where i want to be in my life, money, women, clothes. Music is entertainment and thats exactly what Lil Wayne does.

  • @hoodfella166 hes at the top because people are stupid and nobody wants to hear the truth. and our music scene hates change and lupe is one hell of a change

  • @hoodfella166 That's what you care about? Money, Women and clothes? That's all you think life has to offer?

  • wayne also rap about doing drugs and killing people. most rappers these days promote negativity, im not going to stunt like i dont blast his music but when i need to listen to some true lyrics i put in lupe. if lupe went back on his word and spit the nonscene that most rappers do, there is no doubt he would be at the top.

  • @hoodfella166 wayne tells people what they wanna hear with a catchy beat. lupe SPEAKS HIS OWN MIND and shares his own thoughts which is why hes so real wit his music. waynes a fuckin semi retarted midget who cant rhyme for shit. ya sure waynes at the top of the game, but when you look at the amount of talent, wayne aint shit

  • @joeysteez1 i have heard one wayne song which actually talks about real things and its politics (from rebirth) and he can be ok when he doesnt speak retarded but lupe clearly is almost always talking about real things

  • @hoodfella166 Yo homie. Ima be real with you. I listen to Lil' Wayne as much as the next fan but I like Lupe better because he understands the people. I understand where you/'re coming from with the whole "Go to a different place" but when are you going to get to that place? You have to understand that people enjoying listening to real situations. Why do you think Drake is so popular? He talks about his relationships. So please don't diss any rapper.

  • @hoodfella166 You want to be at a place in your life where you have all the money, clothes, and women you want? That says alot about you. Take a look at Loon, the rapper who used to be on Bad Boy Records, he converted to Islam , because he confessed that that lifestyle is an empty one. He had no piece of mind. Lil Wayne, yeah, he probably has all the money he wants, but he's in jail now, and has child support up to eyes. No one wants to hear Lupe? Ha, it's because no one wants to hear the truth.

  • @hoodfella166 Music is much more than a form of entertainment. Music is an art and should be treated like art. All of us Lupe fans say he's underrated because he is in fact underrated. You say you don't want to hear a rapper talk about real shit because your life is bad enough? Instead of being down about it, relate to it. "What constitutes a prostitute is the pursuit of profit." Your precious Lil Wayne should take some life lessons from Lupe. Music is the universal language, and Lupe shows that.

  • @swtjesus771 well said brother

  • @hoodfella166 lil wayne isnt what i like to listen to..he leads people astray, his life is bad as it is..even if he is making lots of money he doesnt look very happy with all the material accomplishment..he drinks cold medecine everyday to cover the pain..he even made a song about how he feels like dying when the drugs effects fade..what kind of role model is that?

  • @BeatsMusicMan So true, a lot of kids started with all this codeine and soda shit just cause wayne was doin it

  • i would have to say lupe fiasco is the greatest lyricist of all time.

  • Who me now hell no lol

  • I would have to say lupe is the best rapper right now.

  • @Smoketreez777 you are an ignorant little prick, Lupe never said he was in a gang or nothin. You don't gotta be livin like that to kno how to rap. He raps about real everyday problems like poverty or domestic abuse. or even the good things that life throws at you like success. It's little bitches like wocka flacka that make hip-hop look bad and materialistic, and lil iggnit ass muthafuckas like you that make the hip hop culture look unintellegent

  • @youngvidal1 Wayne is the fakest person in the rap game, Lupe is the realest nigga in it. Stop getting it twisted lil faggot. go watch some more gay porn with wayne and baby

  • I always wondered why his style changed so much from his first two mixtapes. I'm glad I finally got the explanation.
