  • manual or auto?

  • the sound of the engine gave me a boner

  • Lol it sounds so beautiful.

  • 00:56 is where the magic begins.

  • Not that you are, but I can't understand how someone with a rotary-Rx8 can drive the car SLOW? The car just begs to be driven hard and fast. Maybe that's why people get "bad" mpg's with the cars because they romp the hell out of unconcsiously lol. Can't wait to get me one. How has your 8 been treating you? Had any issues with it? How is it for a daily driver?

  • 231

  • nice car!.....is yours the 192bhp or the 231?

  • @tanner87 If its the manual which he has its the 231

  • really nice sound to that car man

  • @deathstrike94 lol fail :D cant you hear?

  • Mazda should discontinue their rotary motors. Plenty of Problems, Expensive to fix, Eats soo much gas.

  • @ChuukeseStink Then there would be no RX-7 or 8. Mazda is actually working on the next gen Rotary engines trying to rectify the issues it has now. Hopefully it works. I'm a big fan and commend Mazda for being different but committed to this. Most companies would have thrown in the towel by now.

  • @deathstrike94 i didn't say you were dissing the car, i said you were dissing automatic transmission .. when you couldn't even tell an auto from a stick shift

  • @deathstrike94 .. wow, to be dissing auto and not even know if he is driving a manual ..

  • @deathstrike94 manual transmission

  • I'm looking to buy one for myself, just wanted to ask you that do you have any problems with the engine, like engine flooding? i heard..

  • @MrOnlineGod pcm reflashes have made flooding an extremely rare occurance, especially if you get a manual transmission. mine has never flooded, just let it warm up before you shut it off and you shouldn't have any problems. rotaries do build carbon quickly even when you redline once a day, I got mine with 36,000 miles on it and don't know how it was driven in those miles but I redline once a day and at 61,000 miles I had it tested and it tested bad.

  • @brentd86 so it was still under the extended factory warranty and I got a new engine, catalytic converter, and spark plugs for free. I also bought new coils, wires, and engine mounts and had them put them in while it was torn apart and wouldn't cost me any labor. Try to remember what it drives like when the engine is new after being broken in, these engines loose power gradually and for someone who doesn't really pay a ton of attention to their car its easy not to notice happening.

  • @brentd86 so try to never red line this car rite?

  • @MrOnlineGod where do you live? I have one for sale that still has 3 years of warranty and has never given me any problems

  • how's the gas mileage on the car?

  • @skunk1117 16 mpg lol

  • @brentd86 city or highway? and what grade?

  • I work for my uncles buisness i make about a grand a month. I want my first car to be the best car my school its gotta be sick

  • Because i have a good paying job and rich parents

  • Is it a sport or a fand touring? Im 17 and just got my liscense yesterday and i got about 15 grand thats burning a hole in my pocket im looking at a rx8 its in nj its pretty sweet

  • @Irelandz17 This is the grand touring model

  • @Irelandz17 17 years old with $15,000? what did you do to get that?? or did your parents help you out (just a question)

  • yes it is my daily driver

  • I'm so jealous! I'm a big fan of this car. It seems you had fun with the graphics for the video. Great video! Is this your daily driver???

  • 15 liters are too much :(

  • that looks fuckin exhileratin, i cant wait to get one. only 2 weeks to go...rotary on to fuck!

  • 2 hands on the wheel quarter to 3 is best for spirited driving, lol. I love the tone we get at 8,500 Rpm saying nearly time to change gear

  • You drive similar to me!

  • Should i but a 350Z or an RX8 ? :/ its hard to decide

  • @IbanezGio122 rx8!

  • @IbanezGio122 rx8 will get a lot more comments / originality points, and can be a project. 350z will get you better gas mileage and reliability. me? i waited for the right rx8, and am fully happy with no regrets

  • Flooding issue. Never just move it out of your garage, shut it down and expect to restart it after u finish wahing it (for example). If u were to do something like that...let it warm up (until the eng temp gauge is between H and C) before shutting it down. I own the 2004 RX8 6 speed and have had it flood only once.

  • hey im thinking of buying and rx8. do they still have the flooding problem? i still want one if they have but then i know what to expect.

  • @LittleDan45 yea cause its a rotary engine but as long as you rev it after you start it and dont just turn it off right after you start it you should be fine i want one too

  • love the sound of that motor! really wanted one but i went with a Si instead...

  • What Is the max speed u have gone

  • @MarcccxD 127 mph, then i ran out of road and had to brake.

  • @brentd86 my friend had 149mph on a uk motorway with lorry's at night time and chickend out lol

  • i bet you used a whole tank of petrol in the vid haha! nice car man im thinkin of gettin one of these !

  • is this a standard?

  • @sk8erfreak9242 yes it is

  • I love this car

  • i went and test drove one recently did it take time for you to get use to the clutch

  • @1fordhater + ya a lil bit

  • @brentd86

How did you hook up your camera for this? Is it somehow attached in the rotor shaped part of the headrest? I am looking for a good way or spot to put a camera.

  • y am i watching a dude drive around in a car... Beats me...

  • 2 hands on the wheel dude!

  • lol any muscle vs import question is gonna spur heated debate for example what im about to say im sure will get me flamed but i absolutely hate any vehicle made by ford and therefore cant stand mustangs. mustangs are faster except for the older 6 cylinders (the new 300+ hp 6 cyl is faster) but I will say that rx-8s are somewhat rare on the roads they are around but not everywhere, i can't drive 2 blocks without seeing 3 mustangs.

  • @brentd86 all a mustang is' is a cheap sports car and isnt unique. there overated.

  • @brentd86 You from america?..Because in australia...its the other way around..rx8's are everywere...and mustangs well..lets say you hardly see them around

  • whats better mazda rx-8 or mustang?

  • Drive with your knees next time. One handed is too easy for you.

  • @AlumarsX lol gotta drive with the knees while texting with one hand and eating with the other...all while constantly glancing at the passenger seat to read a magazine

  • Where do you mount the camera?

  • looks like kentucky?

  • @92adamgotell1 yup just outside lexington

  • hey was that russle cave you drove on near the end of the video

i used to live on harp innis

  • hey was that russle cave you drove on near the end of the vid

  • hey was that russle cave you drove on near the end of the video

i used to live harp innis

  • is yur car stock? r u thinkin of puttin a cai on it? planning on gettin a new rx8 soon just wondering what mods u suggest on doin? im lookin to get a mazdaspeed intake for it? suggestions?

  • @nabatron21 i plan on putting a racing beat intake and exhaust on my car, these mods aren't going to add any noticeable horsepower to the car but they sound the best to me (of course its just personal preference), and are surprisingly affordable. I also plan on installing an axial flow short shifter otherwise im just tinting the windows and enjoying it.

  • @brentd86 oh ok sounds good brah i heard the BHR ignition kit for the rx8 increases gas milage quite abit thats just i heard on rx8club.com might do that later once i get the rx8 r3...and look to add a mazdaspeed intake and maybe mazdaspeed exaust depending if it fits on properly i saw one rx8 r3 at a mazda deelership with the mazdaspeed exaust and wast fitting properly it was about 5 inches away from the bumper just didnt look right.

  • 231hp ?

  • yup

  • @brentd86

    really nice!

  • how does the RX8 feel to drive where concerns the rotary engine? Is it effortless acceleration? do you feel a rushing surge of power?

  • its a trip lol, it's opposite of a piston engine instead of feeling the power in the low end that tapers off at the top its somewhat underpowered until about 5000 rpm which is where it seams to snag torque. At that point you feel yourself being pressed into the seat and it continues smoothly accelerating until redline. If you want to pass someone i recommend dropping two gears instead of one this will put you in your top end and give you the snap to take off.

  • @youngsoulja34 @brentd86 um, just because YOU only had flooding in your rx7 doesn't mean anything. my rx8 flooded 4 times now? not all my fault.. and.. it's a manual. so. i've been doing the rev before turn off like brent now-a-days.

  • Does the rx8 beep at you if you get close to redline? Is that kind of a safety thing so you dont rev too high?

  • exactly but the rotary is meant to run high, u can run this car right up to the rev limiter and your not going to hurt your engine as long as you don't overheat it.

  • @brentd86 Thats awesome, im looking at getting an rx8 this summer, and I would love to know some more about it....

One more question, I heard that it is bad for the car to turn it on and turn it off quickly, can you explain that? and how long does it take before you can turn the car off again without any problems?

  • I have another video titled RX-8 Maintenance I suggest you watch that it will probably answer a lot of your questions.

  • @brentd86 wud you say this is a girls car?

  • @joefurzton absolutely, i have no problems picking up girls. When they see my car.. it even becomes easy! lol

  • @Sharmanultra1 ok when you turn on and off your engine too quickly you might flood the engine thats with many cars but more prone with the rotary. that being said it's still rare. When you own own this car you will learn how to treat it. The most important thing i would say when you get this car. Make sure you redline it daily and check the oil level regularly; i check it every 2 fuel ups.

  • stick? i love this car :D

  • horrible hand positioning!! Asking for trouble that way

  • due to pcm reflashes its not really completely necessary anymore but ya the idea behind it was to help burn off some excess fuel to prevent flooding. I still do it most of the time to be safe but I have never had a flooding issue with it.

  • @brentd86 o.k.!

  • what a nice place to live and drive! just one thing, brent, i noticed that you step the throttle a bit just before turn it off. Is that necessary in order to prevent flooding or something?thxs mate.

  • lol i love at 2:01 when the truck just bodyrolls over the yellow line on the corner

  • lol glad someone noticed that, it doesn't really show up on video but i cursed under my breath when i saw that comin

  • Nice car, i've always wondered what an rx8 is like to drive

  • @czech27 Me too! I have a Mazdaspeed 3 which is fantastic, but I've always wondered what it'd be like to play around with a high revving rotary like the Rx8. It looks like a sweet car.

  • Sounds like a healthy rotary nice video camera mount looks clean and don't worry only older classic rx7s get flooding cause old injectors start leaking I had that problem 4 years after no problems at all

  • nope none at all, still runs like a champ at almost 52,000 miles on it

  • Comment removed

  • na the 6 speeds due to pcm reflashes rarely flood anymore it should start fine for you.

  • Man please put your left hand at 9 and your right hand at 3. Only release the steering wheel when you change gear and get it back immediately.. You'll feel the car much better and become one with it that way. You can never feel the car with one hand, and certainly not at the top of the wheel.

  • you can feel it fine at normal speeds one handed, yes when pushing to the limit 2 is going to be better but one works just fine for normal driving.

  • geez havent you seen the last episode of initial D stage 4?

  • for us ppl in the south, driving with 1 hand (left for me) is much more comfortable than driving with both hands..i actually feel less safe and less in controle when i have both of my hands on the wheel in the "Right position"

  • @Bartmantm Man hes just driving home its not like hes racing home. You can put both your hands on the steering wheel at all time if you want. But some ppl dont like looking like a wuss all day long.

  • lol you guys used to say about us having crappy little engines

  • i drive the same, looks chilled as it me

probley cos the handling is good. if i was going 100km+ then 2 hands i guess

  • Nice video of a stock RX mate. Looks quite comfy and easy to drive, but for you're own safty, i would recomand moving your hand off the gear leaver and on to your stearing wheel when you get up in speed. Things tend to happen shitfast and 1 hand will not help. Belive me, been there and done that mistake. Learned the hard way.

  • @ZtriDer in what part did you see him getting in speed???? at this low speeds you can easily use one hand.

  • @TheEarepol are you blind??????

  • @ZtriDer no im not blind, i am from holland and that means we are used to much higher speeds. greetz r34

  • @TheEarepol /faceslap. You are used to much higher speed. Rally drivers don't drive with 1 hand even if they are used to speed. There is no excuse to be reckless. I'm used to speeds so I should be able to drive while drinking? I'm so good at driving that I should be able to use no hands when driving fast? My "thoughts" is enough to keep the car on the road?

Even at low speed 1 hand is never as good as using 2 hands when shit hits the fan. Start taking driving lessons and learn.

  • do you always rev the engine as you turn your 8 off? i noticed that you did at the end ^_^

  • yes I always rev it to about 3k just to burn off some excess fuel that may be in the engine

  • nice vid, brent! i want a mazda soo bad. :(

  • man, y'all got some nice roads for cruisin up there. had my 8 for a good 2 months now, and lovin her. silver 04 GT model, original engine and transmission. once I get a bit more of the principle knocked outta my loan I'm going to start tuning her a little. might see ya on rx8club, I'm ixonal there too.

  • or possibly its simply a hell of a lot more convenient on twisty roads where you are constantly going through the gears, sure if you are taking turns as fast as your car can handle its good to have em at 10 and 2 but if ur simply driving normally its much less hassle than constantly moving your hand to and from the wheel. Under normal driving circumstances there is NO reason that this would not be OK, you make it sound like its the end of the world lol so I call your judgemental ass pathetic.

  • dude this is the most retarded thing i have ever heard of. who cares where his hands are on the steering wheel? srsly

  • @fdmv300 I found the video quite enjoyable actually

  • @ryans523 i liked the video too , i wasn't commenting on that . re read my post. fail.

  • @fdmv300 you said "this is the most retarded thing" while I said that I found it enjoyable...

  • @ryans523 no not the video i called the guys comment retarded. i watched this video so long ago dude , some guy was bitching about why he had his hands on the wheel like that or something .

  • @fdmv300 Oh okay, I didn't think of that since the @useraccount was not at the beginning

  • @fdmv300 it's kinda dangerous to put your hand on top.

If you have an accident (doesn't have to be a big crash) and the airbag pops out, all bones in your hand will be broken...

  • This is exactly how i drive my manual 8 day to day. let me guess you drive an AUTO?

  • whats wrong with driving automatic rx8 faggot? grow up.

  • what the hell is your problem? this video has NOTHING to do with how people GRAB A STEERING WHEEL. are you retarded? like seriously, this car is obviously a fucking standard and it's only convenient to have one hand on the shifter and the other on the top. of course it's evident that YOU don't know that. this video is proof that this car is amazing, what relevance does the location of a body part have ANYTHING to do with this? i agree with everyone else, i ALWAYS drive like that.

  • How many miles you got on the 8? Have you had to change engine yet?

  • I have about 46,000 miles and no havn't had any engine problems yet.

  • nice, check out my rx8 video if you want. Its just some shots of me driving through a canyon road

  • Awesome vid!! I test drove a RX-8 my first time yesterday and I love that rotary. RX-8 rules!!

  • Brilliant car, I want one, but they are quite expensive in norway:(

  • where is that? those roads are pretty ghetto.

  • just outside of georgetown/lexington Kentucky

  • wheres the drifting

  • on a vid filmed by someone who has money to throw away in repairs, drifting is outrageously hard on a vehicle not to mention how fast it eats through tires

  • nice job dude. i watched the whole thing. i want one so bad!

  • this a manual?

  • yes

  • nice man, i got a quote on one same year as yours is this the 2.6 litre? well anyway it came back like the cheapest was £4,000.00 an the dearest was £99,999.00 how much do you pay on your insurance?

  • I'm in America so I'm not sure the conversion but I pay $83 a month which is actually verey reasonable for a male under 25 years old with a sportscar. The car is actually 1.3 liters but puts out like a 2.6 I know what you mean though ya it't the same one you are talking about.

  • Yeah so that means you pay about £40 a month that's good. My quote would of set me around £400 a month, very nice car anyway mate. Hopefully be able to get one myself if i get a better insurance quote

  • Nice video. How long do you need to let the car warm up, before you can start to drive it? I know you cant shut it down untill the proper operating temp, but do you have to wait that long to drive it too.

  • if its cold out I let it warm up for like 10-12 minutes until its at the proper operating temp (time may be longer depending on how cold) during the summer the gauge will go past the two big cold lines in 5 minutes then just keep your rpm under 4k until its fully warmed up

  • Hi Rotary-Brother! You are a great RX-8 owner!! Well done ;-)

  • Ya, people say it's a hastle but like anything if you take good care of it then it will take good care of you, im a lil pissed because someoen hit my back bumper in a parking lot so I have to get it repainted.

  • Do you always rev high befor turning off? I do ;-)

Check out my vids about my rx8 if you have time.

  • about 98% of the time i'll rev to 3800 rpm

  • ...and i1m sorry about your bumper. :-(

  • Just an observation and I know it's probably just habit but your hand positions are really bad. You used your right arm on the wheel like twice in that whole clip.

Nice car though, gotta love em. :-)

  • theres really no need to use both hands on the wheel at those speeds, if I was on a track pushing it to the limit then ya I would want both hands on the wheel whenever I was shifting but honestly during every day driving I think it's uncomfortable and just stupid looking. No one really wants to see someone roll up in a sportscar clutching the wheel like a senior citizen unless the driver is too old to have the reaction time younger drivers have.

  • LOL so driving with one hand at 12 o clock looks so much cooler?

you have no clue how douchey it looks from a 3rd person perspective.

  • I drive everything one handed simply because it's more comfortable, it's also a lot more practical on my standard driving on these roads where I'm constantly shifting. The only time my second hand goes to that wheel is if im pushing it around corners for some reason or something comes up that is going to require evasive driving. Why don't you go back to teaching drivers ed to high schoolers and spend a little less time worrying about how I hold my wheel, my driving record speaks for itself.

  • great car my dad bought one for me for my birthday gift

  • great vid i just wanted to know if the rx8 is a reliable car an if you have many problems, because im thinking of buying one wit 90,000 kms would it still be a good car

  • im not quite sure what that is equal to in miles but when they start to get up there it may have carbon built up and need the engine reconditioned, to do this costs around 1800 I believe, I still have 5 years of warranty on mine so ill just have it done right before that runs out.

  • that would be like 40,000 miles if your wondering

  • i am hopefully getting one soon! i would like to know though how they do in snow!?! i am selling my dodge dakota since it sucks and is rear wheel drive.. i also noticed this car is rear wheel drive.. does it have good traction control and abs? is it hard to drive in the snow?

  • it's a rear wheel drive sports car its not gonna like the snow, I am driving mine this winter on the summer tires and I can tell you that you really need to know what your doing to get anywhere. If you put some snow tires like bridgestone blizzaks on it, add some weight to the trunk, and go easy on the gas you should be ok.

  • Premium fuel only or can it also use regular? Does it effect mpg or performance

  • you can use regular you'll prolly get the same mpg but its not going to run as well

  • Can you tell me exactly what you used to make this video and edit it?

    Thanks,

  • I used the Samsung SC-mx20 digital video camera and edited it with Cyberlink Power Director Ultra version 7.0

  • How did you upload it to youtube in hd though?

  • that program when it produces the movie has an option for youtube I youse that then there is a menu for what kind of file you want it to be I choose the latest version of windows media with the HD after it and it renders it into a file that when I upload it to youtube has that option

  • Hey.. I should be getting a 2004 in the next few weeks for $8k w/ 90k miles.. I'm so excited. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind..

How does it shift? I've got a '65 mustang and it's only got a 3-speed and I think it will be a big jump to 6!

How are they on gas in real life use?

    Thanks! Awesome vid btw.

  • They shift really smooth, I'm sure it will feel more comfortable than your mustang, that is assuming the transmission is all right, as far as gas goes it depends on when your driving it and how you get on it I was getting like around 16 or 17 mpg during the summer...normal driving mostly at speeds of 60mph, now that its cold out and I let it warm up fully before driving that has gone down some... I don't know how familiar you are with the car but you should check out my maintenance video.

  • Thanks Brent for replying so fast. Your maintainence video was really helpful. I took notes.. It may sound daunting to maintain an rx8, but nothing like a old mustang. I'm pretty handy with cars so it should be no problem.. I'm sure the shifting will be much better. I'll keep you posted. Thanks! Ben

  • nice car and in HD!!!

  • Your car is AWESOME!, whats the color?

nice video quality, im thinking about get this camera.

and More Vids of your RX-8!!!

  • It's what they call Sunlight Silver in color, Ya I really like my camera I record in super fine mode to get this quality but even in HD youtube really drops it's picture quality down when I upload, for the price you can't really find a better digital camcorder. I know I've been meaning to get more vids up but working nights leaves me little time and now that the days are shorter most of my driving is in the dark.

  • understand!, anyway, u have a great car, and a great camera... so when u have a time to record something more about your car, share with us. cya!

  • im about 2 get an rx8

jus wanna know if u think its a good car
