Just need clarification and I don't mean any disrespect... your system was "invented" from other various systems? I'm curious... just wanting to know if you have seminars... or, have a place that teaches this system. With my limited searching on the net, I couldn't find anything. Salamat...
@fightingmink - Thanks for your comment - I appreciate the question.
Regarding knife, there are far too many approaches and styles that advocate good, sensible training on the one hand, and completely suicidal things on the other. What I did with Escala is try to find ROOT PRINCIPLES in knife systems that I trained, and start from there. Techniques vary from person to person, and that's as it should be - To me, the knife is far too nebulous to nail down into one system.
Awesome video and great device! I tell me guys that we slash with the blade to reorient for the thrust which is the more lethal of the blows. Your board illustrates that so clearly. I am going to draw this and show it to some of my students. Again, AWESOME!
About the video, this is the difference between taking canned stuff that's been fed to you and having the courage to make your own system and take the flak that that entails, like JAK did.
" It's really a conglomeration of them more than anything I "invented" per se"
Synthesis is just as legitimate a method of creation as coming up with something from scratch. Far more so in the martial arts, where trying to reinvent the wheel can get someone killed.
I have never seen this system. You are doing that a lot with me. Please post more as soon as you can, you have made me see FMA with new insight. Your students are very lucky to have you.
Very nice sir. I like the condensing of the knife angles and movements. Very fluid, efficient. This is one of the ABQ Chris's, by the way. Haha.

I was taught the 8 angles of attack/defense but we never had that board. it is way cool. Think I'll make me one.
