'We are man and wife if ever two people were on this Earth' That gets me that line. She obviously needs to find meaning in what has happened but if only she could have seen it as Jude did. They really needed each other in the end. Such a tragedy.

Heartbreaking film, I saw it for the first time this evening and I can't help but say I began to get teary eyed :P
and, Heart1tobyattack, I don't think they do. However, it would be sweet if he continued to pursue her like her promised :)

You should read the novel by Thomas Hardy.
The oldest son, Jude, killed his younger siblings and himself because he felt like their family was suffering as a result of their needs. Like.. that they were in the way. Watch the movie again and maybe it'll click.
