I have tried this so many times, the instructor goes way too quickly and treat things like certain parts of the move are simple but to me, I think I just saw someone draw a complex equation on a chalkboard really quickly and I'm like "WHOA! WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?" I think the teaching is shite. I'm off to find a different video.

he does a good job doing the move but its not the same like MJ's slide its a different version of it!!! this tutorial is not a good one specially for beginners. this move is a lot simpler than this and this guy is making it way too complicated than it should be! also, Michael jackson doesn't keep his arms straight down while doing the slide!!! watch my moonwalk video see what you think:))

I totally agree with Anthony!! His DVD's are well worth the money, I have all three of them ( Thriller Dance Work Out, King of Dance Workout, and Don't Stop! It is not called the "side slide". It's called "The Glide"

Because you are not siding side by side, your moving around, but it seems you are defying gravity. Therefor looks like your gliding through the air.

Even if you were just sliding to the side, your gliding (cutting through the air)

Your not dragging/sliding your feet across the floor.

And this move is nowhere as easy to achieve as you make it look, you need a more detailed guide.

@purcellthijm The difference become much more clear when you actually learn to do the move. It's easier to learn the moon walk first. (took me 3 months) Then Learn the Glide (Not the side slide) their attempting to show you the same move with a different name, and doing it exactly how you shouldn't. If you really want to see the difference, learn as many of MJ's moves as you can, I've been learning them now since I was 13, Im now 17 and they have very strict principles, which if you disregard...

Seriously, people. It's not rocket science. I'm not a dancer. I'm a straight dude that can dance. I've been a fan of MJ since I was a kid, but nobody is born with those moves. It takes practice. The bonus is that listening to MJ and dancing like him is fun. And as long as you are confident and let your inhibitions go, you'll have a good time. Plus if you're good you can bust this stuff out at bars and clubs and totally score!
