Back in Rudyard Kiplings day, people didn't really understand snakes like pythons so well. It was originally thought snakes could hypnotize their prey before they devour it.

It wasn't just to make the scene more "family friendly", it was just a throwback to Rudyard Kipling's original work.

You could be 11 today and still know what a VHS is. DVDs weren't that popular yet in the early 2000's. I'm in my mid teens and never saw this movie before until last year. It was on VHS too. Pretty good movie.
