People still do this type of dacning and this video isn't that old. As far as morals, the Catholic Church wanted to ban this type of dancing for over a hundred years because they considered it lecivious and lewd.
Your side comment suggests anything up to half an hour for a set. Never found one like that. But Caledonian and Labasheeda about 20 mins each. Good on ye if you can do these with Sliabh Luachra in between. Where do you find all this great footage? Ps as for 10 mins minimum Ballyvourney Jig can take 7 minutes - timed Johnny Reidy!
A reminder that Cashel set hornpipe had a finish. with all half house move on to next lady on right , claps ect..though it was cut here to shorten the performance I presume.
Still this is far better than the 2nd boring repeat of tops and side as danced these days.
Did some well known dancing master with a "senior moment "change it in the late seventies? Why?
Ceili dancings a great laugh, I only ever went to a single ceili, a good 100 people dancing that day. My love was always hard shoe step dancing though and I always danced solo. Still though, dont knock it untill you have tried it!

Wonderful stuff. Most enjoyable both for the music and the dancing. Great to see the old traditions continue.
