  • great job wit this, and thank you

  • with his moves he would be competative even today!!! what a great player!!!

  • Bobby Orr was my hero. Still is. I got his autograph when I was 6 years old, and we played a game of "shinny"; him against myself, and 299 other Squirts...he'd let us have the puck now and again, but it was lucidly clear that if he wanted to keep it he could, even with 300 sawn-off hockey sticks chasing him about! Great video...have you noticed how the Canadien and Black Hawk and Rangers, etc, players just stand around, dumbfounded, after he scores? He was AMAZING! Wayne Gretzky...my ASS!

  • Nothing like 7 minutes of watching Bobby makes fools of everyone.

  • He skates around the Montreal Canadiens, a team that could put five Hall of Famers on the ice at any time, like they were pylons. But it's true, the one skill that has improved exponentially across the board since Orr's day is skating. Everyone in the NHL can skate 10 times better these days. Nowhere near the time or space. That's not to say Orr couldn't excel today. The numbers just wouldn't be as dramatic.

  • very poetic very gracefull. chances of him being able to do that in today's game. ZERO.

  • @jojowopper Not so! At this time the training & physical fitness of athletes is in every way SUPERIOR to the time when Orr played. He was as dominant on 'D' as 'O' playing really 2 positions at a time or a shift. If he grew up as a youth with todays coaches, competition, training, etc, he would dominate again! ( Poetic, graceful, and a sledge hammer. )

  • omg every comment is like a paragraph long

    oh and bobby orr rulez

  • You don't get that kind of skating room in today's game. Orr still rocks

  • The great one.

  • It's like he was born with skates on ! He makes it look so effortless. Truly ahead of his time and the best(in my opinion, no disrespect to 99) to ever lace em up.

  • @jaytf1231 Here's my Ultimate forward lines and top 4 D: Howe-Gretzky-Bure, Gillies-Mario-Lafleur, 3 line: Burrows-Dale Hunter- Bertuzzi (pre-Moore.)

Def: Orr-Robinson, Stevens-Doug Harvey.. Daneyko and McSorley can be number 5 and 6. My 4th line is Wendyl Clark- Bobby Clarke-John Ferguson: Hasek and Schneider in net. Like it? Spare is Tiger Williams, just 'cuz I don't want him on anyone else's team

  • @skaha77 I agree with your picks with the excetion of not having Eddie Shore as one of the top 4 defenseman. I think you're old enough to remember that name. He was hockey from the late 20's through the 40's. And maybe Bobby Hull or Mike Bossy as one of the top 9 forwards.

  • @jaytf1231 I remember Eddie SHore by name. Never saw him play. Psycho. Top forwards is a tossup though. Bossy not a great corner man...but super instincts, and hands. Neely good on the walls. Might have banged in 70 goals if Ulfie hadn't done the dirty deed. I think Cam had like 49g in 52 or something. McSorley not a top 4 D but hellish good as a mop up on the number 5 or 6 spot. same with Daneyko

  • Orr was more skilled then Howe.. anyone knows that. but how do you comapare apples and grenades? One is a defenceman, and the other is a forward. Two toally different jobs.

  • Orr was 20 years ahead of his time and if he played in the 90's he would still be one of the best. I don't think number 99 would excel in todays NHL let alone 10 years from now. The only way they could stop him was to purposely injure him.

  • 0:28 - in the new nhl, a boarding call. ;)

  • I show my dad some clips of Sidney Crosby and stuff every now and then. Before you know it, he got the hang of the computer and showed me some of Bobby Orr, someone I never got to appreciate. Makes me want to go out on the outdoor ice, where my dad taught me how to play. Some of the best memories are out there. It all starts there. Every goal, every trophy. Its like Orr passing the puck along to Crosby, the game never changes. Love hockey, and love Bobby Orr. What a legend. Thanks for the video!

  • 3:30 what was that?!?

  • What else is there to say: The Greatest: Number 4, BOBBY ORR!

  • Or skated around the other players like they were standing still.. I saw this as a kid and therefore iam a bruins fan for life!!

  • so much easier to score lmao, golie with less equipment, the net looks so huge

  • @zupels007 the 60's and 70's were easier to score, but not as wide open as the ridiculous 80's!

  • @zupels007 Orr still would have burned them, because he could find holes where others could not.

  • The pass at 2:19. I think it'd be harder to make a pass like that. Because the other players stick is always in a different spot. While the net has and always will be in the same spot.. so fuck ovechkin

  • @hocekyisthebest What do you mean "fuck Ovechkin"? For someone whose username is "hockeyisthebest" you would think that they show more appreciation towards ALL great players in the league, not just their favourite players. The goal Ovechkin scored was lucky bounces, but great in it's own right.

  • @avsrule247 easy lol.. just saying maybe he should take 2 less shots for maybe a pass. if not then try something else..

  • @hocekyisthebest Take two less shots? I bet he would love to hear some tips from you, you should get in touch with him!

  • @avsrule247 Ovechkin is a reckless liability. Do get me wrong, he's really good, but, I don't see him having a very long or productive career.

  • Oops. I meant don't get me wrong.

  • @MyTeamsBettah I agree. I think he will end up with career ending injuries like Forsberg. The wear and tear will get to him.

  • @avsrule247 Especially, if he keeps throwing himself into the boards head first...

  • This is the only bobby orr video on YouTube I am comfortable watching. The music totally fits this.

  • the clip that starts at 2:13. beat that ovechkin

  • 240p....we meet again.

  • @MultiCrapman What did you expect?? This is some classic footage, the poor resolution comes with it.

  • i gotta hand it to the uploader, i watch this every time before my hockey games. it inspireès me in a way, i dunno, all im saying is, bobby orr is my favorite player of all time, GO BOSTON!

  • Did you know the opening / theme music is a rock n' roll version of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker Suite"??

  • @PeteTheSnowDog1 I still can't find this version anywhere else! Is it the Ventures?

  • @PeteTheSnowDog1 I LOVE NCSuite.. and this is very well done.

  • Boston today is the best def team I have EVER seen. If it had an Orr, it would be the best ever team in history bar none. I am in Vancouver, btw so hate them badly. DId they ever do a shutdown job on us! Anybody notice how much roon he gets? Hey today he'd still rule, but no way he'd get that kind of room.. His best season maybe be 30 plus 85. Wayne would still lead the league by 40 points w/ about 165, and would have as many assists as the next leading guy had total points. b-bye everyone

  • @PeteTheSnowDog1 The theme song is called "Nutty" A rock variation of the "Nutcracker Suite"

  • The Best!!!! No argument, he was the greatest!!

  • @AllAmerican1964 Nah, He was over rated. Gretzky would turn him inside out. No way he could get away with that crap in today's game . Players are bigger, stronger, faster. Orr 'dhave a tough time making the Rochester Americans today

  • @skaha77 Haha Gretzky vs Orr ? You think Grettzky could have done anything at all without Semenko? The right answer is no because you would have be concussed in like his first season and that would keep happening till he was like Lindros and couldnt play anymore. Orr at least was tough and maybe he couldnt go through everyone like he did but he would still be a world class D

  • @dirtmonkey6 One is a D man and the other is a forward. One is a set up man who scored NINETY TWO goals, and the other is a time killer, skates the puck and QB the PP better than any D man in the history of the game, Possible exception Coffey. How about this 4 a dream tam. Make 'em all 24 with good knees: Probert-99-Bure, then 66 with Bossy and Brett Hull 86g. On D: Orr-Robinson, Harvey-Stevens

  • @skaha77Rochester Americans?? Are you an idiot? He's ranked the second greatest player of all time next to Gretzky by the hockey news and other respected publications. And ahead of Howe and Mario.

  • @jaytf1231 Orr wasn't as good as Howe. THINK.. gordo was playing pro NHL at age 50. Here is a short list of the games best ever players: Gretzky, Orr, Mario, Howe, and your sugestion that THN is a respected publication tells me you aren't a Canadian. It is a friggin rag

  • @jaytf1231 Lighten up, dude. YOU r an idiot for being unable to see I was kidding you. Of COURSE he'd be the best in the game today. So would Wayne. and Gordie Howe = Milan Lucic, but Lucic won't be playing after age 40. Howe played well at fifty.

  • @skaha77 Sorry, you sounded serious. It's not just the Hockey News it's other publictions generally have them in that order. Gordie Howe started playing in the NHL Before Bobby Orr was born and then retired AFTER Bobby Orr retired. Amazing career. I have no problem if people put Howe a little ahead of Orr. Most seem to agree those are the best four. I know you're not really comparing Lucic to Howe right. LOL.

  • @jaytf1231 2 things you can't do in U Tube: 1) Hear voice tones, 2) See facial expressions. Lucic not Howe but 6-2, 240 lb menace who is damned hard to stop. Tough, and he is good in every facet of the game. dunno who I'd say is a Gordie Howe with re: Style and ability. Cam Neely played a similar game. Not as good with the puck meaning he wasn't as good a playmaker. Howe was playing Pro hockey in 1945 which is my y.o.b. and retired when I was 35. Howe = best grinder mucker scorer of all time

  • Orr was better than Gretzky was. The way a defenseman was able to do that with the puck is so amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • This guy reminds me of Kyle Wellwood....

  • Check out how he explodes from blue line to blue line carrying the puck in around two seconds! No big deal? Here’s a tidbit. The neutral zone was 54 ft. Todays is 50 ft. That’s sick!!!!

  • 2:19... holy shit

  • I do remember! Orr is the best!

  • I noticed a HUGE difference in the style of hockey after watching the Bruins this season. There is so much passing back and forth between players in the zone that they rarely seem to get a good shot off and more often lose the puck to the defense. If you look at old footage of hockey games, there were more shots taken from the point and a lot less passing. I found myself yelling at the TV for them to SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK!

  • Lemieux, Orr, Gretzky, and Morenz; best ever.

  • he skated so effortlessly. his shoulders barely move yet everyone else seems to be going in slow motion

  • 2:15 now THAT's a crazy run. The guy gets checked, falls, yet manages to pass the puck, resulting in a goal. AMAZING.

  • I have always felt that Orr was underrated in the hockey world. This guy changed hockey, and he was so incredible to watch. Before Orr, defensemen probably scored three or four goals a year. Orr changed all that, and he was cut down so early in his career due to bad knees. I don't think there will ever bey anyone like Bobby Orr again.

  • I have the Bobby Orr Tape I must have watched that literally a thousand times. I am a Rangers Fan but I Tip my Helmet to the greatest Hockey player of all time Bobby Orr.

  • You can google "the ventures" and "nutty". Mp3's galore will come up. Go B's!

  • His fluid skating made him look like he was barely moving but he was actually flying.

  • 3:53 he drew 3 opponents to himself leaving 2 teammates wide open. Everyone in the arena including the players are mesmerized and watching Orr's magic.

  • The Ventures are awesome.

  • One should "never say never", but just like those maskless goalies we will never see moves like this on a hockey rink again. I was 11 when he scored to win the Cup in 1970. Looking at this vid makes me realize just how special a time it was. TFP

  • The clouds just cleared here in southern NH and I looked out the south window of my living room to see a huge Full Bruins Golden moon hovering over what must be Boston.

Wow Kids and wife just yelled B,s just scored goal # 3 Go Bruins Go...

  • this is the night

  • Saw them win the cup in 1970 and 1972...great times...Orr is untouchable!!!

  • Ahhh I remember heading up the outside attic stairs in NH and turning the UHF antenna to pull in TV38 Go B's Go Bruins Played hockey as a kid and was of course playing Right Defence!!!

  • hppy birthday bobby orr 20 years old

  • It is the Ventures’ instrumental version of the Nutcracker’s overture, a/k/a “Nutty.”

    GO BOSTON!!!

  • awesome video but what is this song!? i need to know it!

  • @jaqua524 It is a rocked-up version or The March of the Wooden Soldiers from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet! It was used in the '70s as Channel 38's theme song for their broadcasts of the Boston Bruins. One of the best sports theme songs ever!

  • @jaqua524 This music is the more rockabilly version of Nut Rocker by B Bumble and the Stingers. It's a rocked out version of a bit taken from "the Nutcracker".

  • @aaplatypus any idea how i could find it? i like whos the artist of this version?? i cant seem to find this rocked out version

  • @aaplatypus nvm, Nutty, by The Ventures, i figured it out!

  • His dangling and dekes are somewhat similar to Mario Lemieux's.

  • @Kiluu1971 If anything lol, mario is like him ... :P

  • @brianfurchner Yeah, obviously Orr did it first. I didn't mean any disrespect, I was just comparing things Orr did in this highlight reel to a player I'm more familiar with (never seen Orr other than on Youtube). Anyways, both Mario and Bobby seemed to be able to whatever they want on the ice.

  • @Kiluu1971 Thanks for clearing that up for me. Both careers ending too soon.

  • bobby orr is the greatest hockey player iv`e ever seen

  • ass video

  • His pushes are merciless but he is so patient when it comes to shooting the puck. Long live the Orr legacy.

  • @mikesisgod I agree, but remember they never boo a bum. I recall watching Bobby play at the Montreal Forum and as soon as he touched the puck all you could hear were the jealous morons of Hab fans boo Bobby. The great one was Bobby Orr. Not Gretzky.

  • Gretzky's number 99 was retired by the league. It should have been Orr's number 4!!

  • @sonoferin I agree Orr was the greatest player of his time. Gretzky wasn't half the skater Orr was. The only common denominator was they both had good support staff.

  • Thank you for posting this.

I saw Orr up close many times, as well as Gretsky, Coffee, Messier, and now the Crosby's of the world.

No one has been Orr's equal as a skater, puck handler, or brilliant set up man.

Watch clear footage of him, and you'll see his show that "looks" less impressive

than the other greats is simply a result of him flowing so naturally.

He set record numbers WHILE unselfishly making the players around him shine.

    Greatest ever.

  • I wish we had #4 playing with us vs. Vancouver in the 2011 series! Titanium knee and age, if he'd been getting ready he might still be better than 80% of the players out there. One can only imagine what a 22 year old Orr would put up for numbers in todays game...it would be mind boggling. But come to think of it, he was mind boggling when he played! Orr shows what one can become when one really loves what their doing. Truely the best of all time and never another.

  • what's weird is the way Orr shakes defenders like another guy with a bad knee, football, (soccer's) Johah Cruyff. Both Orr and Cruyff seem immune to defensive pressure. i mean i've seen great 'fakes' before in all sports, but Orr's moves were un-freaking believable. Larry Bird is the ultimate testimony to Orr, oddly. When facing a peak Jordan Bull's team in a critical game, Bird looked repeatedly not at Jordan but at the rafters. Why? "I was in awe of Bobby Orr's retired number 4."

  • orr and Muhammad Ali were far the greatest athletes I've ever seen. In 1970 Orr, O.J. Simpson (!) and some other guy had their reflexes test by some lab on behalf of sports illustrated and Orr's were so shocking ... that just as folks doubted initially the young Mozart's abilities, so did the 'lab' doubt Orr's results. and he did it on one leg and what most don't know is that BOTH knees suffered operations.

  • :26 not only the greatest player & defenseman ever, but also a superb starting goaltender. Love it.

  • Bring this song to NESN!

  • The greatest hockey player ever and a real gentleman.

    Robert Gordon Orr

  • MANY years ago, there was a practice session involving a group of 17-18 year olds. Eventually, the kids got rather upset over some little kid who turned out to be only 12 years old at the time. They went to their coach and asked "Can we play with the puck, too, after the little brat gets finished with it?" Oh, the little boy's name? Bobby Orr. That's how great he was before even reaching his teens. What he did on the ice during his NHL days is the stuff of legend...and it's all true.

  • The great ones make it look easy.

  • He would have had his head taken off if he played today, as would Gretz.

  • @invadr1,

Wrong.....Orr got no special treatment by refs & players as Gretzky did. Orr was a tough hombre. All players of that era say so. You quickly found out how strong he was if you could catch him. Todays players are pussys by comparison, and helmets are their pussy crowns.

  • @invadr1 You don't know what you're talking about. Hockey back then was far rougher, more fights and no helmets.

  • when the intro to hockey comes on and its like bobby orr! when it shows him score a goal im always like bobby orr! number 4! haha

  • He was something else he was great amazing. My Mom said he was exciting to watch but hated him because she was a Rangers fan. He changed the game and I don't think there is anyone who will ever be as good as Bobby Orr. He is in a league of his own.

  • I was 10 when they traded Orr away, it was the first time I ever cried over sports,

  • @shumirules1 Same here. The second time was 3 years later when, at 28, Orr was forced to give his retirement speech because of a bad left knee. Part of it is on the Nova Orr clip posted on You-Tube. What a tragic day in sports and in particular the National Hockey League.

  • @shumirules1 THEY DIDNT TRADE ORR HE WAS A FREE AGENT AND WAS SIGNED BY CHICAGO

  • @caz62 Bobby Orr was offered a deal with the Boston Bruins and part of the deal was 18% ownership but his agent Allen Eagelson never told Bobby and instead advised him that Chiacgos deal was better, Allen Eaglson was the guy that ruined Orr in Boston, Bobby never wanted to leave The Bruins and the Fans DID NOT WANT ORR TO LEAVE!!!

  • @12gianna

duhhhh!! yes i know!! that !

  • @12gianna And Alan Eagleson was stripped of his Hockey Hall Of Fame status and did 18 months in jail for what he did to Bobby Orr

  • Bobby Orr and Esposito made it possible for the Coffey's, Gretzky's and Lemieux's to reach their greatness. Orr is the best player period. In a time where most defensmen felt lost 5 feet in from the blue line, Orr struck.

  • Dryden said that when Orr got the puck, it was like a 5-man stampede towards him. Where did he get the energy to go end to end like that? Amazing player!

  • @isbourne I think Orr got the energy the same way he played for 5 years in extreme pain. It came, simply, from his love of the game. Bobby Orr just loved the game and being a Bruin. He sacrificed himself and his future in the NHL making all those incredible moves we all remember him by.

  • Gretzky could never do this! Pound for pound...Orr, the greatest hockey player of all time!

  • Should have put the famous shot on there

  • NHL goals per game during orrs era, hovered around 6. In gretsky's era, hovered around 7.5. If anyone wants to say anything about the goalies, or the defense of orr's time, there you go. Orr>all

  • Okay I study skating and time players. Modern day NHLer’s go from blue line to blue line in a good rush at around 3 secs. Orr in a lot of these clips can clock it a hair over two. Look at 3:00 as an example. The burst is fabulous and is what Pat Quinn was talking about when he said he never seen anyone kick it up like ORR. Remarkable even more considering all the training they have today and the new gear.

  • was hitting not allowed back then or something? wtf..... seriously

  • Comment removed

  • Don't care how many points Gretzky scored, Orr's still the greatest, and I'll tell you why. Because, as great as Gretzky was, u could argue that there were other players who, tho not as prolific, had the same skills. Lemieux comes to mind. If not for all the time he missed due to cancer and injuries, Lemieux would've put up numbers close to Gretzky's.

But Orr - there's never been a defenseman who could do what he did, and no player has ever dominated BOTH ends of the ice like he did.

  • @woodyi59 And don't forget, Orr did it with a left knee with little to no cartilage in it and a right knee that had surgery also. I seen almost every televised game Orr played in and even these video's do not do him justice. Why isn't there a video of Orr taking 30-40 seconds off the clock while the Bruins were short handed? I seen him do it many time-How about all the blocked shots, the great hits, defensive take aways ect. ect,. As Cherry said, "HE WAS THE BEST".

  • @5inthehole You're right 5inthehole. And when you see highlights of him making those amazing end-to-end rushes and skating around defenders like they were standing still, th eamazing thing is - those aren't cherry picked clips...he used to do that on a nightly basis.

  • @5inthehole

YES YES YES. People think goal scoring was the be all, end all of hockey. Bobby Orr handled the puck like it was his own child. No one got it away from him unless he wanted it gotten away. He'd loop around players, swiveling left, right, and backwards too. You can see the exasperated faces of the opposing team while Bobby ran out the clock. It just wasn't fair was it? LOL

No wonder Bobby Schmatz relied on cheap shots.

Where have you gone Robert Orr?

  • You want to know what real horror is about? Look at Eddie Giacommon's face at 3:17 of this video. How scary would it be to be in the nets and see that number 4 blaring by both defenceman comming in on you...ERRR! Truely God's gift to the hockey fan, thank you Lord!

  • he would still own today

  • March 20th: Happy Birthday Bobby Orr!

  • @KarmicOmen Indeed -- Long live Bobby Orr, Hockey's King!!!!

  • If bobby ore played in today's nhl he would own half the team and be making about 18 million a year lol A Dman winning the art ross hahah unreal

  • @conda420 Maybe with his surgically repaired knee Bobby could lace up the skates for the B's for the playoff run. Shit, at +60, give him a week or two and he'd be better than 90% of the players playing today (and probably tougher too!). I know one thing, after he was done, no one would remember who that Gritzky guy was.

  • @5inthehole Dude spell The great one's name right he is the best athlete all time in professional sports Wayne wiped his ass with the NHL record book and signed almost every page along the way.

  • @conda420 I know how to spell "Gretzky". My spelling was an inside joke from the TV show "Everybody Love Chris" (his fathers cheap so he buys a jersy off the neighbor hood crook with the name mis-spelled "Gritzky". Maybe I can make you understand a different way- How many records would have Gretzky rewrote if he played when Orr did? I think very few because he wasn't tough enough. Gretzky was a great goal scorer but he was no ORR. Bobby did it all including hitting and fighting. Case Closed!

  • @5inthehole You will never be able to convince me Orr was better then The Great One the case will never be closed

  • @conda420 Question 4 you- Did you ever see Orr while he was playing?

  • @5inthehole never seen him live a lot of older people tell me he was the best and his stats show he was awesome but I watched Wayne play for 20 years

  • @conda420 Well I seen them both play. Gretz was an unbelievable goal scorer and set up man-You won't get an argument from me there.(Infact I saw him once, from behind the net pop the puck over it, onto the back of the goaltender, then in the net!). But Orr did that just as well WHILE PLAYING DEFENCE. And he didn't sacrifice defence for offence. Orr could outskate anyone. To sum up Orr could DO IT ALL. Gretzky couldn't.

  • Has to be the best Athlete ever!

  • I was born in 1972 & never saw Orr play. I saw Robinson, Potvin, Coffey, Lidstrom, Salming, Leetch, among others. I've seen MANY Orr highlights & many people tell me they don't really do justice to his greatness. Though I never saw him play, I feel qualified to say that no defenseman will ever be as good as Orr. The fact that he was able to do all that he did while playing about half his career on a bad knee is mind-boggling. No player will ever do what this man did ever. Orr is beyond compare.

  • @dzanier

Born in 1968, I remember watching Bobby Orr on TV as a young child -- and even then I was awestruck at how he moved ... even though I didn't quite understand what it was all about at the time.

Bobby Orr is solely responsible for my obsession with hockey today ;o)

  • @dzanier orrs more than a man, his half god!

  • Comment removed

  • I look at him the same way I look at Gretzky: they are both so great that there aren't enough superlatives to describe them. Orr was the first player to seem superhuman compared to everyone else & Gretzky had much the same effect. But. considering Orr was a defenseman & had more responsibilities I have to him the nod. Orr's 1976 Canada Cup performance, when he was practically crippled, was the crowning jewel of his career. I'm glad he got the chance to have that one great international moment.

  • @dzanier ..don't forget Bourque,Orr is the greatest and by time I saw him he was a shadow of his former self :(

  • @dzanier I agree highlights never seem to do him justice! My memories are of him skating circles around everyone else on the ice. He made everybody else seem silly .. especially when he was killing penalties - he'd just skate around the rink for a minute and 50 seconds (all three zones) and then in the last 10 seconds skate around a defenseman and score a shorthander. Oh .. and he could hold his own with the surliest enforcers out there.

  • god damn he is so goood....its at the point where you have to say that it was just unfair for everybody else when he was on the ice...pure domination

  • Boy, does this bring back memories. And, yes, there was only one place in the house where 38 came in clearly. We had to move the small tv in to the living room and direct the antenna just right. But, it was worth it- what a team!

  • God I miss this tune. Back in the day when TV 38 was king and Terry and his pals were smashing faces. As I recall the reason they stopped using it was because the people who now own the rights to the song wanted way too much money. Greedy bitches. Should have sent Jonathan over to their house for a bit of attitude adjustment.

  • One other thing..The fans of The Maple Leafs were spoiled when Orr came to play. He seemed to save some of his best games at Maple Leafs Garden. The only place he played better was, of course, Boston Garden. I'd say 75% of Esposito's goals against brother Tony were set ups by Orr...we fans could have scored alot of those empty net feeds Bobby use to give to Phil.

  • These video's are maybe 5% of what made Bobby Orr such a great player. Missing is his penelty killing where he'd rag the puck for anhywhere from 15-45 secs., The Orr bodyhits (he had brusing hips), The unbelievable blocked shots, defensive plays never scene before, The Orr toughness, fighting ability, speed, agility, pinpoint acuracy in passing and shooting....to start off. As someone who saw 80% of Orr's games, this video only shows a small part of his dominance on the ice.

  • but i gotta admit the goalies came out of their net way more than goalies do now, hence more goal opportunites, meaning goalies today are tougher than old times, and they have bigger padding nowadays, in todays game i would say gretzky would get a 70 goal season at highest not 92 lol, but anyways Bobby Orr and Pavel Bure are the most skilled speedsters of all time =D

  • lol i wasnt around for old time hockey but i dont think Orr, hull, sittler would all be 3rd and 4th line, nicklas lidstrom is the best defenseman at present day, but Orr was better, cuz not even lidstrom can skate from 1 end to other and weave through everybody, yes in todays game he would get crushed sometimes, but i still Orr would be line 1 and probrably score more than any defenseman and give more assists due to his speed he can make plays :)

  • greatest player of all time !!!!

  • Ahhh, ye olde TV38 logo!

  • I agree with Draesonh......and notice how little hitting there is in these clips. I mean, nobody hits nobody. It's stupid....like watching a pickup game of old-timers hockey on the pond.

  • Newsflash! Guys like Orr, Hull, Sittler, et.al, would be third or fourth liners in today's game. Much faster players today, much more skilled. The reason Orr dances around these guys is cause they're all old farts who can barely move. Just watch it again if you don't believe me. A lot of those guys wouldn't even make it out of the minor system today.

  • @draesonh You have got to be out of your mind. Either that, or you never watched Orr play during his career. He dominated games from his position on defense, played the point on Power Plays, and was almost always out there when they were shorthanded. He routinely played 30-35-40 minutes per game. Look at the prima donnas today: 20 minutes is a lot for most of them. And he did it in spite of numerous knee surgeries.

The greatest: Bobby Orr! Hands down.

  • @draesonh ru kidding me? if anything, the amount of expansion has watered down the league considerably!

  • I don't know about Sittler, but Hull and Orr would still be two of the fastest skaters in the league if they played right now, with two of the hardest shots.

  • Bobby Orr the Greatest Hockey Player ever and he is so humble.

  • Don't forget Gretsky had a goon Dave Semenko to protectect him no one did that for Orr he fought his own battles

  • IKILLGOPHERS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.I HAVE WATCHED HOCKEY FOR OVER 40 YEARS HOCKEY WAS A LOT TOUGHER THEN.yOU REALLY THINK GRETSKY WOULD'VE STAND UP TO ALL THE HITTING.NO CHANCE ORR WAS THE GREATEST PERIOD.

  • Orr's skating and puckhandling ability were off the charts. He dominated the game at both ends of the ice. His career was shortened, no doubt, because he played the game at 200 MPH every shift. At his best, he was the greatest there's ever been and 2nd place isn't close (sorry Wayne).

  • @bailinnumberguy He dominated the game because he was playing against a bunch of old farts in their mid-30s to mid-40s. My 12 year old could do the same thing. Orr was nothing special. Very over-rated. Put him in today's game and he'd be a second or third-liner, easy.

  • @draesonh

......He dominated the game because he was the best of the best.

Todays NHL is a lot different from the NHL of old. no one is denying that fact. Imagine if Bobby Orr, hell even Gretz, were able to go through the training and development todays stars go through.....damn that would be fun.

Even tho i am a Bruins fan, it would be like watching PK Subban play, but 100000xs better

  • @draesonh lol @ "bunch of old farts". That last goal was Nov 10, 1974 vs the Flames. The ages of the Atlanta players on ice (and jersey #s): Gibbs, 26, #2; Lysiak, 21, #12; Chouinard, 18, #16; Talafous, 21, #24; Bouchard, 24, #30; Manery, 26, #7. [Jean Lemieux also wore #2 that year, so it could have been him instead of Gibbs. He was 22.]

So that particular bunch of "old farts" that he "embarrassed" (B's 1974 coach Don Cherry's word) ranged from 18 to 26. Orr was 26 that year himself.

  • What is this tune? Its cool!

  • @SuperGogetem It's an arrangement of Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies".....which of course is what these old farts are....a bunch of fairies.....laughable by today's standards

  • @shneevels you wouldnt know an old fart unless your mouth was open to catch it.

  • Orr. Was the only player to win the Norris troppy. Art Ross trophy. And Conn Smythe trophy in one season. Wayne Gretzky is the only player to score over 200 points in one season. What Beasts!

  • Bobby Orr against the world. Dizzying to watch. How many more goals would Orr have had he played fOrrward his entire career and didn't pass the puck as much?

  • The Bruins and TV-38..... it was family night around the TV....... it was magical to watch Orr.

  • @Rollie1961 It sure was a lot of fun to climb on the roof and adjust the antannea.
