Im only 15, and seeing KIDS actually changeed my opinion on life... I wanted to be a big man for the longest and in the past month ever since i saw KIDS Iv been really appericiating my time i have as a youth. Its pretty sad though how quickly you grow up. between the ages of 13-15 were the probablly most goofiest time of my life.. but i wish i coulld just be like that forever.
@shugrock123 Although I can appreciate savoring the experience and time spent being younger, if you look up to these characters in this movie, I feel sorry you.
recover easily. However not every teen has it this easy. Many get caught up and their whoel life is screwed. But this movie really changed my outlook on life. Smoking once or twice as the experience isnt bad. But dont make it your life. And dont feel that because youre a teen that this is the only way you can have fun. Drugs are a social item among most of us teens. It shouldnt really be used more than that. Else you would be considered a pothead. Go out and have fun but dont become a pothead :)
Watching kids made me realize my life wasn't much different...Though you can say smoking pot and drinking and doing illegal activities is a waste it really depends on how you do them and who with. Yeah i will agree years 13-15 were the dumbest years of my life but now I'v realized a lot and learned more. What most teenagers should learn is what they are doing is fun yes, but accept the fact that your maine goals as a teenager is not getting fucked up.
Sometimes, I stare at all the teenagers who are in a group of friends laughing and acting immature and I begin to feel bitter. So,my advice for all the teenagers or future teenagers: Your teenage years are short. The saying, "Life is short" wasn't directed towards ones FULL life, but the life that they had when they were younger. Some may disagree, but really YOUR life ends when you get into long-term relationships, have kids, and have standard full-time jobs.
Im 17 soon to be 18 and this was my worse year out of my whole life. I just completed my senior year in high school and ive drunk liquor for my first time, had sex with 3 girls, and smoked weed countless amounts of times. I have to go to college this summer and have put that behind me for the past 2 months now. Just watching this movie is a reminder to me of the life i dont want to live. Im literally in tears right now ...
@maskanio1Let me tell you something. I'm 20 now. I remember when I was 17. I had no friends, no social life and I never once went to a party; I stayed in my home doing nothing but watching T.V. and going on the internet- probably to watch youtube videos. I hated my life, but for some reason back then I thought it was better for MYSELF to be living on the safe side rather to rebel a little bit. Now, three years later, I regret how how I lived during my teen years...continued..
@maskanio1 Continuation... Sure, I made a good choice in that I was able to avoid DUI's, horrible influences that could have landed me in JDC for long periods of time, but I also missed some of the most important years of my life. All those times where I declined to go to a party, or declined to smoke some pot with some friends and listen to music and watch a pointless movie are moments that I regret. I was a teenager, I was growing-physically, mentally and emotionally. I regret a lot.
@Neutralbuttafly I get what you mean..I kind of wish I went out and did more crazy shit when I was younger..I feel like I lived a pretty dull and sheltered life as a teen. You're still young, though. I'm 21 and so far this year if shaping out to be one of my best years. I'm having the fun that teenagers have without all the insecurities and uncertainty that plagues the teenage mind.
@Neutralbuttafly I know i sort of live that life also. Well i choose if i want to party or not. Like right now i feel a little anti social but if i really want to go out and do something crazy i have a few friends that would allow me to do that. I dont have a problem with having fun but i was coming home every weekend high and driving and nearly getting caught by my mom. What im trying to say is i lived the life of partying when i was 17 and i just turned 18, i was one of the few who could ...
i shoplifted the dvd when i was 16,before that i had never seen it than i watched it and i realized: teens everywea can relate to this film, shoplifting, skating, getting high and chilling with your mates cuz when your a teen, friends is what matters the most...im in my 20s now but this film holds a big part in my teens.
I;d rather become a stupid drugged up hiv ridden party slave than some stupid money hungry nazi cheerleader living off the wage in a white collar and tie.
This isn't Folk Implosion. It's Sebadoh. Lou Barlow is in both, and there are Folk Implosion songs on the soundtrack, but this isn't one of them . It's originally from the 1991 Sebadoh album Sebadoh 3.
in 95 I was 14 yrs old when I saw "KIDS" & then... it was a moment in time where I wish Could return to,... Quiet as kept I do everytime I listen to this song.

something about this movie impacted me so much. this song is unforgettable as well. How sad it is for some teenagers, all the beauty in the world is wasted out of their perspectives by sex and drugs.
this song kills me. i feel like i've wasted my youth and time slipped by so fast, but i have nothing to show for my years as a teen. damn, if only i could go back and start again. RIP Justin & Harold.
@thegoldenyearsx heroes are forever young.. just gotta keep having fun and be happy.. whatever it takes.. just try not to hurt too much along the way.
@ublec15 Yeah I guess, but I'm now a young adult, not a kid. And a lot can change during the transition from your teens to your twenties. There's just something special about being a teen. So much to look forward to and learn. Everything seems like a big deal, small things excite you. Sometimes it feels like they live in a world of their own, and sometimes I can't help but notice them in groups, or even by themselves, almost completely oblivious to the world around them. It's kind of what I miss
@ublec15 Haha yeah man, but there's also good things about growing up too. Less confusion, and you can put things into perspective more easily. You just can't use your youth as an excuse for a lot of things now. I guess I shouldn't be complaining..early 20s might even be a prime age for some..still young, but old enough to be taken seriously and have the freedom to do whatever you want..but yeah bud, just enjoy being a teen, time goes by really quick.
@thegoldenyearsx It's never too late. Take some ket & watch the world turn into a pantomime, while you walk about in your astronaut suit as the walls blend into the floor. It's quite something.
@thegoldenyearsx i completley agree. i listen to this song willing myself to press on. i wasted my teens to the FULLEST and i feel like a shit for doing so.
@THEMOTHAFUCKINSHIL12 Don't worry bro, it's never too late to make up for lost time. That's what I'm doing now. My advice is to occasionally hang out with younger people (lates teens/early twenties) or people who are young at heart and fun to be around.
@shblck222 i feel the same way.. except i was 12 i think.. i swear this movie educated me more in 1 and half hours than 12 years in public school. probably why i dropped out and started to think for myself.
@shblck222 Yhea i am 15 now and i saw the movie, it was really an amazing movie! its weird, different generations though same age! i was born the same year the movie released!
I was under the impression Folk Implosion was just another incarnation of Sebadoh...isn't it basically the same band making different music? I know Lou Barlow is in both... :)
rest in peace justin pierce and harold hunter=what an amazing movie it really makes you think twice about sex in general a how things arent free anymore=GREAT IMPACT
Not quite right with the glasses kid in the club being a writer of this movie. Harmony Korine helped write this movie but that kid's name was Avi Korine. Sibling?
This track is amazing as is all J mascis lou barlow stuff.Kids is dope too.America is a amazing country, the land is vast and amazing in places its just the politics and certain issues that are fucked up there.Canadas really nice too.Rip pierce/harold.
I love how everyone is like "Yeah it was nothing like this movie, we didn't do anything we never gave each other aids." That was kinda the point of this movie. Aids was a huge thing back when this movie was made, and just like some people who commented, if you went up to some of the characters in this movie they would say they didnt have aids either. They did not know they had it or that they were spreading it.
american youth.....heres to life. im 20 now and i know from experience that in teens years, we think we know it all and have a good grip on life. this movie showed just how naive and lost american youth is. but its a part of life in urban setting
hahah america has the most beautiful land in the world if it isnt taken over by oil companies. we have fucked up govt vbut our land is the best. love ligve north marican land! you bitch. get a new name too no ones lickin your man cunt
I was only 10 when this movie came out, and I grew up on the West Coast, but I don't think that the movie accurately represents American teenagers. I'm sure that there were and are some teens like the ones portrayed, but they're only a minority.
I've lived in the suburbs of L.A., and I went to a public school. I won't pretend that my friends and I didn't experiment with sex, drugs, and alcohol in high school, but it wasn't exactly like this movie. We definitely weren't giving each other AIDS. I remember that there was maybe one or two pregnant girls at my school, but I didn't know them, and I just thought that they were trash.
na i met way 2 mutch people at LA this little boy was so skinny they said he had AIDS he was like so small and skinny and he was about 12 years old i yust saw him in the hospital and then theres my sister nothing compared to her she got prignent at 15 now i have a nephew but i guess thats life thats yust the way things are
The movie is life changing, and the song is just as brillant.

This song really means something very important to me. It is like some kind of 'post-it' note. Anyway, it is very sad and beautiful.

Not quite right with the glasses kid in the club being a writer of this movie. Harmony Korine helped write this movie but that kid's name was Avi Korine. Sibling?
jukeboxhero141312 2 years ago
@jukeboxhero141312 It was Harmony Korine. He was just using a pseudonym.

I was only 10 when this movie came out, and I grew up on the West Coast, but I don't think that the movie accurately represents American teenagers. I'm sure that there were and are some teens like the ones portrayed, but they're only a minority.

theres more than you think visit LA or NY look deeper instead of the coercial areas
ShadowWalker242 2 years ago
I've lived in the suburbs of L.A., and I went to a public school. I won't pretend that my friends and I didn't experiment with sex, drugs, and alcohol in high school, but it wasn't exactly like this movie. We definitely weren't giving each other AIDS. I remember that there was maybe one or two pregnant girls at my school, but I didn't know them, and I just thought that they were trash.
iforgotmypw1 2 years ago
na i met way 2 mutch people at LA this little boy was so skinny they said he had AIDS he was like so small and skinny and he was about 12 years old i yust saw him in the hospital and then theres my sister nothing compared to her she got prignent at 15 now i have a nephew but i guess thats life thats yust the way things are
ShadowWalker242 2 years ago
