Tommys the greatest and Ive never seen anyone kick his ass til now

    Nk s soloing - beautiful

  • someone please tell me the chords from 0:25 to 0:29. just the 4. they sound soo good.

  • A perfect storm of awesomeness.

  • Man this is tight

  • Even better then Miles Devis and Charlie Parker's versions

  • Huge rosin build up, love that.

  • I love how early Tommy was into the qypsy jazz scene as well as all those other genres he performs so well before he went into the world scene with youtube and gained so much renown for his relatively simplistic fingerpicking style.

Personally, it's was Tommy's famous style which got me hooked, and I am thankful for it now as it has lead on to my own personal discovery of other great artists and much more incredible complexity.

Tommy is an utter genius, continually surprising me every time..

  • @mycheesedguitar hey mate, simplistic? i think not. i know how to play tommy songs and there isn't anything simplistic to his style or songs at all.

  • @TheDudeFrom0Z Lol, dude...chill...TE is GREAT, -the 'simplicity' I was referring to was the apparency of the presentation of his strong melodies. It's his ability to make the most 'sing-able' melodies and his fantastically subtle ornamentation which allows him to make these complex works so popular, in contrast to the blazing runs and gargantuan arrangements of the jazz and classical scene. I'm a huge Tommy fan as well as player, so I'd know well enough what a feat it is to learn a Tommy piece.

  • @mycheesedguitar I disagree. His music is complex ... technically, but not musically. His harmonies are the same as of some not so bright musicians. That's the reason his melodies are so 'sing-able'. No matter how you put it, you can't make a complex harmony accepted by the big audiance.

  • @tzoche Yeah I guess you're right.

His most popular stuff is in his songs like Mombasa, Angelina and Classical gas, which frankly, are exactly as you've described. And it's a shame, where he does utterly brilliant stuff in his arrangements of jazz standards, they don't get the same recognition simply because people can't keep up. It's true though, that he puts A LOT of work in playing to the wider audience, (and is often successful), but unfortunately too often 'tis caviare to the general.

  • lol tommy emanual bobs for the whole duet ! :D

  • And to think our children really believe that they need to tune into the Jonas brothers to be entertained these days, when we have talent like this around.

  • too poore for him

  • Tommy with an Ovation???

    That's great! jeje

  • DIVINE DUET!!! I LOVE THEM!!!

  • gods on earth !!!!

  • damn! he's GOOD

  • wooW that song

are made by the doors wii thats great

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!

  • Pretty darn sweet! Nigel I would think was influenced by the Hot Club of France, he sounds alot like , uh forgot his name. He has excellent chordal/harm. interval skills as well. And, of course, Tommy kills as always

  • Stefan Grapelli?

  • Wow -Tommy Emanual with a mullet haircut

  • Never have I seen the guitar look like such a blunt instrument compared to the surgical device that is the violin...Nigel Kennedy is a genius.

  • anyone know where to find the sheet music for the violin part?????

I've been looking for it everywhere!!!

  • HOLY SHIT! take me, oh yes!!!!

  • ive never seem anyone who gets more absorbed in their music than tommy emmanuel. He has the most impeccable rhythm, too. What a great performance!!

  • Tommy and Nigel playing together, i'm very aroused.

  • badass.the only word for this video!

  • Wow , never seen Tommy play a straight rythme on an Ovation ....must be a few years ago...Thks for posting

  • wow, that´s one of the best tunes i have ever heard

  • If I cut off some of his hair, maybe I can get some of his power.

  • LOL! Would that it were that easy!

  • These guys ought to do a album together!

  • I am a guitarplayer myself and a huge fan of Tommy Emmanuel, but this got into my favourite folder because of the brilliance of Nigel Kennedy. What a musician.

  • reminded me so much of django and grappeli

  • Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting this. If Nigel wasn't such a wank he'd make Angels cry.

  • why is Nigel a wank??

  • Nigel is just Nigel, and that's all you need to know.

  • Generally, you have to spend LOTS of time alone practicing to get good @ classical myoosick. That's time you're not out learning to interact with people............therefore you'll find the same syndrome in most classical players, expecially when they try to be cool.........

  • great!!

  • beautiful and touching performance!

  • Jazz from 2 of the best Musos in the world. I'm in awe of them both. Great clip. Thanks.

  • HE IS DEFINITELY UP THERE WITH THE BEST

  • top bollock. awesome.cool.

  • It was on the Midday Show with Ray Martin on Channel 9 Australia. Not sure when though.

  • wow, Tommy playing an Ovation!

  • oh yeah, he told me backstage at a gig that he used to play ovations and takamines because they had fantastic pickups, where very other guitar company failed.

he developed the pickup with Maton years later, when they were about to put a torch to their place, and that basically put the company back up and running.

    just passin it along ;)

  • Brilliant, superb, sublime, thanks for posting this great collaboration from Stephane & Django, I mean, Nige & Tommy.

    Totally amazing, love 'em all.

  • It's great to see Tommy's versatility with other artists. He is great whether playing solo or accompaniment. He puts everything he has into each performance. Thanks for sharing this one.

  • Saw Nigel at the Opera House...beautiful, entertaining, a little crazy and brilliant..an experience never to be forgotten!! Glad he is now starting to do a bit of Jazz as well...wowzers!

  • Brilliant upload. thanks a lot.

  • Great video, thanks a lot for the upload!

Man, Tommy is such a great rythm guitarist. When I hear him play with other people, it's always his rythm playing that I enjoy the most.

Do you know when this performance was recorded?

  • no sorry, it's on a dvd I've got but without any info...

  • where can I buy the dvd?
