Let me tell you why Def Lep - High And Dry is one of the best recordings of all time:
They were all drunken teenagers who had no idea how insanely talented they were. And ended up making one of the rawest and heaviest rock CDs in the vein of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. Totally raw, uncut, and unrelenting - thats High And Dry.
Out of all the music out there, if I have to pick one jam to take into the here after with me for all eternity, its going to have to be this one. Nearly 30 years ive been rocking to this, too many GREAT FUCKING TIMES to list. Nine people don't like this?? To you nine lost souls I recommend you listen to this ten or twenty thousand more times and then reform your opinion. Check out BamaKatt's live version of this. Its the best there is.

These guys left their egos and made one of the greatest bands ever. All they wanted to do was please the crowd and steve was awesome at it. It is so easy to see how much they love each other. Its nice to have a desire to make great music, but a dream to do it with people you love. RIP Steve Clark.
This puts tears in my eyes. Rip Def Lep all you want, but this guy was the Jimmy Page of the 1980s. Such a melodic, soulful and powerful legend. His notes were always chosen and played from the heart. And what a terrific showman. He lived for nothing other than his music. This band died when he died, as far as I'm concerned. I love Viv Campbells's Dio days, but as for Def Lep, he is no Steve Clark. No one will ever be. RIP Riffmaster!
@steamin88 in my city they do play this song, usually after they play bringing on the heartbreak they continue into switch 625 just like the album does. which is awesome.
Song and Emotion by Tesla is also fantastic. Tesla toured with Def Leppard all the time and when Steve died they did a tribute. I am 15 by the way and can't stand this new age crap with screamo etc.
Steve Clark. One of my fave guitarists! They played this 06-25-11 in Virginia Beach. I was there to hear it and feel it TOTALLY KICK MY ASS! The palm muted power chords will shake your freakin bones!
TO STEVE CLARK,,THAU ART IN HEAVEN,,THY KINGDOM COME THY WILL BE DONE,,GOD REST YOUR MERRY SOUL,,YOU WILL BE SORELY MISSED!!! GOD SPEED STEVEN CLARK!!! YOUR SOUL WILL BE SORELY MISSED!!! THE CLASS OF 1986 IS STILL IN SESSION!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE LOVE YOU MORE THAN ANYONE IN THE WORLD YOU ARE THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK MUSIC!!!!!!!!! YOU STILL ROCK THIS WORLD ^_^ R.I.P.
I never realised it at the time, but I lived through one of the greatest eras of Rock in the 70's & 80's. Meet the band in 81 when my mate supported them @ Hammy Palais.
"High & Dry" works on so many levels & is a truly great album. I think the band lost their edge when they hit big in the States & sold out a bit to that West Coast sound.
I heard an interview with Joe Elliot a while back when he said that the band where influenced a lot by Bowie!
Steve my biggest inspiration playing the guitar. Amazing.
Maybe if Steve wouldn't have died, Def Leppard could have became the biggest band of all time. Maybe we wouldn't have bieber we would still have people making real music. R.I.P Steve Clark. This is a masterpiece.
This music is simply Amazing.. You compare this with artists such as Rihanna and jay z.. well i don't have nothing against them but i Think this style of music awakes you feelings that the most of the junk today doesn't awake..
(Note: Compare the likes and dislikes of this music and pop bands likes and dislikes LOL)
Steve Clark Ronnie James Dio John Lennon John Bonham Gar Samuelson Dimebag Darrel Bon Scott Kurt Cobain Randy Rhoads Steve Ray Keith Moon Sid Vicious Freddie Mercury Keith Relf Duane Alman Brian Jones Jeff Porcaro R.I.P ;(
@TrafficMind10 Sid Vicious and Kurt Cobain doesn't matter.
Kurt Cobain > Nirvana > Grunge and Grunge killed rock music in the 90s and caused bands like (for example) Def Leppard to loose a lot of fans.
I saw Sid Vicious in 1977 in Holland in Maasbree, his amp was on but the only song he knew how to play was God Save The Queen, and only the main part (not the fills between the chorus) so remove those names and lets add Gary Moore and Eric Carr!!!
watching this makes me wish i could change things, if i could give steve clarke his life back in exchange for mine you'd probably all be alot happier ^^ hes a legend and i wish i could be i tiny bit as talented as he was god bless you mate rip

Not only the Riffmaster, but Riff God. Steve Clark was a guitarist that came as best as a guitarists came. He didn't waste anything as he gave it his all during every live performance. He came up with so many original riffs and the fact that there's an instrumental based on a 3-note riff is just pure brilliance. Hey everybody. I need your help there is one article on the wikipedia that is the List of Gibson players en . wikipedia . org / wiki / List_of_Gibson_players and steve its not there can you believe that? one asshole blocked me although I had give enough sources to put him on the list. I f you want to help me please join the discussion and let's put steve on this list.
Anyone know how to get hold of the Def Lep vids? Like download or something? And not just Def Lep vids of course, just me and a mate want to make a tribute to every artist we know and love but photos are good but mixed with videos might be even better =) so if anyone can help be most appriciated..
When Steve died there was no more Def Leppard. Leppard should have realized Steve Clark was unreplaceable. Steve was the heart of Leppard, when you take away the heart the soul goes with it. We miss you Riff Master Clark.
My life has changed since the day when I watched this for the first time. And it still changes for better. Thank You Steve! Rest In Peace, Riffmaster, You will never be forgotten...
Actually quite the contrary. Steve was very nervous about performing on stage. Joe Elliott tells a story about Steve trying to break his fingers on a marble sink so he wouldn't have to go on stage. Apparently he was fine after getting out there but walking out initially was a struggle.
Def Leppard, Guns n Roses, & Metallica, even Motley Crue, Scorpions, ACDC, & Whitesnake were the original Heavy Metal gods and they still would rock today and do everytime I hear their music! The only 80 Hair bands that lost their way were all the want to be's pop heavy metal bands... complete and total copy cat posers...which is why they had the back lash ...I have listened to Def Leppard since High n Dry...just wish they would cave so I could buy it for my I-pod
Went and saw them high and dry tour all their warm up music was AC/DC I knew I was at the right show that day for sure ! they totaly rocked :)

Why spend you're whole life waiting for someone to say their proud of you? Because, those words may mean the world to someone </3.

When Steve died there was no more Def Leppard. Leppard should have realized Steve Clark was unreplaceable. Steve was the heart of Leppard, when you take away the heart the soul goes with it. We miss you Riff Master Clark.

@thunderdeed
Actually quite the contrary. Steve was very nervous about performing on stage. Joe Elliott tells a story about Steve trying to break his fingers on a marble sink so he wouldn't have to go on stage. Apparently he was fine after getting out there but walking out initially was a struggle.

@Jacksonpc1 Yes I,ve heard that story about Steve but I believe that was an one time event .
