beautiful beautiful Beautiful! I know this was 5 years ago, but can you tell me about measures 19 and 39? you play b-b-g-c-f-b, but my son's music ("La version d'apres les manuscrits") has b-b-g-b-f-b. also you have a few more embellishments. Did your teacher add them, or was this the version you had? Is that common to have different lines? thank you, we love your video.
I've been playing since I was 5 and piano comes naturally to me. the secret is to feel the music, to express an emotion. put some movements in it! engage the audience! still, ur pretty good yay!
This could play a bit slower with more emotions and more slowing down for your dynamics. Keep on playing. You're talented, but you need more in your music. Good job!
That was really good for your age but some advice for playing in general would be to use less "chicken wing" motion (that's what my teacher called it) and more rotation at your wrist.
You are playing it very well, but your hand is floppy. Kepp strong knuckles and don't make your hand move with your shoulders but with your wrists. Keep up the good work.
I agree she's very talented, but you have to have some life experience before you can play anything serious. Her skills are awesome, but there is a huge lack of emotions.
hi i like your straightforward approach, it's better than that shaggy-haired guy. but you mmust know that transitions especially with embellishments in chopin must be played with care. otherwise it all sounds forte to me. i liked that you stopped at 1:51 because the repeat would be damn boring (for anyone performing it)
@Candii3457 - Anyone who complains about this child is JEALOUS! She's amazing! And never makes an error. I wish I could play this well, and I've been playing for what seems like 100 years.
aaaaa even though shes good i have to admit it try you got to put more feeling it what you play it helps people know that you enjoy wat you do... well thats wat my sensei
You see folks, white kids can play piano if they put away their drugs & alcohol beverage bottles long enough & their redneck parents stop forcing them to play idiot football all the time,,,lol
Oh, my God she looked so mature and older in this video. Like she lives in a mansion from the older times. Even her picture looks mature and taken professionally.
Hamiltonrrw, Encouragement comes in many forms, but I highly doubt that is the intention of these people. She is absolutely amazing, and as someone who just tried to start piano, (and gave up) I guess I can say it's kind of a blow to my ego. I don't appreciate it.
if you have the urtext version of the piece you could see there are two no. 12 waltzes.12a,which you beatyfuly played here is one of them, has no piano-forte notations, neither pedal instructions,on contrast with 12b,which is complete. So,as expected you played it as you liked,I'd do the same.Try to have some piano-forte variations,a piano piece, and especially a waltz by chopin, is something with much feelings,it should'nt be flat and try to use pedal less
She is good, yes. I doubt a lot of 10 year olds have acquired this pianoplaying skill. BUT what I dont like, is how this girl, or most probably her parents shows off her skills (just watch the vid. with her playing with her eyes covered. Yes, she IS good, but there's always someone better. Just keep that in mind.
You don't need to show off your pianoplaying skills.
@blubbel66 Frankly, you just sound jealous. "There's always someone better." And so what? Since when was music about being "better" than everyone else and not just enjoyment and the love of making something beautiful?
you're an amazing pianist, Celia !! I hope you'll post some new videos =)
Hi , I am a french girl and I find that kept silent cheek very well of the piano for your age, since when plays you of the piano ? Sorry for my english^^
she is going to get all the guys :0. anyway, i am not suprised that she memerized it because it was a hard piece and as a fellow pianist, i know that it is really hard to flip the page well playing the whole piece nonstop. good job
probably because chopin devoted one piece often to more than one women, thus slightly different versions survived as he cut a bit there added some there changed notes etc
paderewski had an unenviable job working on a definitive chopin nocturne collection
i agree. having talent like this at ten years old IS AMAZING. but i think she needs a bit more feeling. i mean she has all her dynamics... and all that... but it just... doesnt seem like its coming from her heart. its kind of like a robot. its not interesting.
I think that you have incredible talent, and this is not meant as a criticism...but it is my strong belief that such music is much more easily played with feeling when one has life experience. For the most part one doesn't contain this life experience at 10 years of age.
Totally right. One thing is good technique, other is a musicality. Alice have much future, but is obvious the this waltz is only exercise and nothing of musicality. hamiltonrrw thanks for your reply :) I enjoy listening to those pianists too, also yw1935. It is great that youtube has a large classical music section for musicians to learn from. :)
Her Mom should set her YouTube videos to the pre-approval mode "Comment Pending Approval" or something like that. She didn't do that because my comments went right through.
She's awesome. I like the way little girls move so expressively at their pianos. So adorable and shows they enjoy playing. Most boys just play. Normally, girls are very melodic and boys are mostly technicians.
Another difficult piece well played! The only thing that you need to work on is controlling your right elbow - it has the tendency to move up and down while you are playing. Other than that, I love your videos, you are a very talented pianist, and I hope you post more videos on YouTube soon. Keep it up! :)
mayablanca - Perhaps because her elbow is connected to her ARM!
She does not "need" to work on controlling her right elbow. She's doing just FINE the way she's playing and she doesn't need approval from you on her technique, tyvm.
mayablanca - Incidentally, I heard errors in your Chopin piece, but none in this little girl's. Hmmm...Perhaps you should raise your right elbow just a little to play more accurately.
YGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYG and hamiltonrrw - Thanks for responding to my comment. My piano teacher always told me not to move my elbow like that, so that's why I thought it was something she needed to work on. But, you have both proved me wrong. :D So, never mind Celia about what I said about the elbow.. just keep playing as well as you are and I hope to see you in concert one day. :)
Also, YGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYG, (sorry, 500 character limit) I don't understand what you are talking about my Chopin piece? I love Chopin, but I've never posted a video on Youtube.. What video are you talking about?
Sorry if it sounds like I am fighting, I hate when I go to the comments of a video and on the comments everyone is fighting with each other. :(
mayablanca, Sorry. Not a problem. I just adore this little girl and how well she plays. Sorry if I was a little tough on you. I didn't mean to be, but Celia is only 10 and I think her teacher can instruct her. Too many critics; everyone critiquing her differently could confuse a child. Since she plays beautifully, and more accurately than the both of us, I just thought she deserves nothing more than compliments. ; )
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
amirmot, you stupid moron! WHO was talking to YOU??? And, I wasn't referring to THIS video, you idiot. I was talking about a piece played on ANOTHER video by mayablanca. So mind your own business!
Would everyone shut up about expressions and what not? She's only 10 in this, so it's only expected that she won't fully grasp the true style of Chopin. However, she has plenty of time to improve on it, so everyone quit acting like she needs to be at a professional level already.
I love this waltz, I played it 5 years ago when I was 12 and never heard of it after since.
For a ten years old girl, you're not bad at all. However, playing the right notes doesn't make a musician. You need to put some expression in it, but don't worry, you'll learn it in no time if you keep practising.
great, on one level. you can definitely play the notes. the problem is, music is so much more than just playing a lot of notes in a row... put in dynamics and expression, and it'll sound even better.
there is a place called free scores (google it). It has most famous classical piano sheets so i am asuming that they will have this too. I am not advertising or spamming. simply advice
kids these days...

I started playing piano at 7 yrs old. You need shoulders at that age, it is hard to produce such a force with your fingers only.
It is not an easy task to play, say, Chopin 2nd Sonata with a 7-year old fingers. Or twelve...
I think we will hear more from this pianist in the future.

Since she plays beautifully, and more accurately than the both of us, I just thought she deserves nothing more than compliments. ; )

Darling, it´s Chopin, not the Happy Birthday! You have a technique, but not a emotional maturity for works like that. Dont worry; life is long.

That's retrospectively true ;)
This is a very nice performance. Wish I could play like this when I was your age!
