5) Tacky shops and amusement parks near the Potala is shameful. The Han-Chinese coming to Tibet do not understand Tibetan culture and the last time I was their they I saw a group of Chinese getting drunk and making fun of Tibetans & how they act & dress. I saw a Han-Chinese man spit at a woman with her child. Believe me, China needs Tibet and I mean greater Tibet not just TAR. They wanted to get Tibet for centuries & now having control of it they are unlikely to let it go.

4) When my parents were young they saw hundreds of trucks filled with statues and artifacts looted from the monasteries and from the Potala. Chinese are okay with Tibetans as long as they all become Chinese. They will keep open a monastery here and there because they finally realize that they are good to make money from tourist. Don't forget there are now nearly 1,000 brothels in sacred city of Lhasa. This is a real shame and a direct affront to many Tibetans.

3) They don't want to destroy Tibet but exploit Tibet for the dominate Han-Chinese. They want to assimilate Tibetans, marginalize Tibetans and control them so that they feel no threat from them. China also looted tons of gold and silver statues and artifacts from the monasteries after destroying many of them. This gold and silver was melted down and sold on the international markets. For years you could see authentic Tibetan artifacts for sale in mainland China.

2) Of course, an important aspect of Tibet was that it has a low population with a lot of land. Plenty of room to move more of their populations, and this they have done and continue to do even today. In addition, as stated recently by a top Chinese official, Tibet is the watershed for most of Asia and the nation of China cannot survive without this water. China is now busy diverting waters and controlling the waters of Tibet.

As of th elate 1990's it was estimated they removed nearly 55 billion USD in lumber. They also took gold, silver and copper. Tibet has one of the largest uranium deposits in the world.

1) Today's News. 12.2208 - "A Chinese court has jailed a Tibetan who worked for a non-governmental organisation for life for passing on information about the situation in the restless region to the outside world." A life sentence for revealing the truth. What a world!

Most people know about the destruction of monasteries during the cultural revolution but what is not commonly known is that most of these monasteries were empty shells, having already been looted prior to the cultural revolution.

2) The property and treasury of the Tibetan government was confiscated by the Chinese state. The lands and possessions of the wealthy landowners was confiscated and redistributed to the poor only to be confiscated and taken from them a few years later. The wealth of individual Tibetans was confiscated, but much of this found its way into the hands of Chinese officials.

3) Over a period of several years almost all Tibetan monasteries were emptied of their contents. Many Tibetans have documented and have been interviewed about seeing convoy after convoy of PLA trucks headed to China with the contents of Tibetan monasteries. In the beginning, the trucks contained small, precious statues of gold and silver, later, the larger and less valuable statues were cut up and transported to China to be melted down.

4) Decades later the fate of most Tibetan art is unknown. Thousands of painting were reportedly burned. One foundry near Beijing, only one of at least five foundries that had melted down Tibetan statues, had melted down 600 tons by the time the process was stopped in 1973. From this you can only imagine who many statues there were and how many were taken and melted down.

Why are we only listening to what the Dalai Lama, his monks and nobles have to say and want? It's always about them. Well, they do not represent the average Tibetan who make up the majority, and their lives were never free under any sense of the word under Dalai Lama. This is one of a three part video response to a few vids on YouTube that Gravely misrepresent Important Events/Abuses in Tibet and The Dalai Lama.

These propaganda Vids are being "promoted" up to give a false impression that they are popular views. Valid comments are maligned, deleted, marked as spam; &huge numbers of workers are online 24 hours a day, to shove the Lies in these Vids to millions of views.

This is the essence of Propaganda, repeat over and over, and make dissent not only embarrassingly uncomfortable (and/or painful) but also make you appear an "out of favor" minority. Peer pressure, promote division and anger of supposed "loss" to you, and a consistent....if laughable...message repeated over and over; until the listener just gives up trying....then, wonders... Once the seed of doubt is planted in poisoned soil, its encouraged to grow...reinforced by daily reminders.

"Breaking this cycle" is important. As silly as these accusations about The Dalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhists appear, these lies must still be refuted....lest they be believed ;-)
