How come the werewolves in this movie can change at will? While other werewolves cannot. I have read countless books and basically the older the werewolf the more experience it has. Thus enabling it to change at will and also be able to have the ability to think for itself and not just attack anything it sees. Am I correct?

@Matt2779 The ones that can change are the ones changed by Lucien he is the first lycan werewolves cant change back to their human forms at will, and they become the animal as opposed to the lycans who can actually control themselves in wolf form.

I apologize to American Werewolf fans, but I wasn't that into the movie. I was expecting a full-blown werewolf movie, like... Where you see the wolf a little more than three times. And with a lot less porn.

I love Werewolves as a whole, Van Helsing being a personal favorite alongside the Underworld Lycans lol Up on two legs or down on all fours (All fours is best for charging/chasing in my opinion) I enjoy them. The 'Werewolves' in Twilight are about the only way I can sit through those movies.

@GuardianDawnAme The reason most of us like AWIL so much was because when it came out, it was amazing compared to everything else we had and gore was just starting to get popular so it was really fun to watch. It was really big on suspense too, you were waiting the whole time for the werewolf and wondered what it would actually look like. Nothing beats Dog Soldiers though, best werewolf movie hands down

This is good, but I prefer the atmosphere and the mutations in the '80s movies. In all the films like underworld the monsters are organized in clans and they are cool, and in my opinion this removes the wild side and the melancholy of these creatures.

@Nightmare582 Velkan's transformation looked pretty cgi heavy, but what I liked about it was that it tried to be different, because he was ripping his own skin off to reveal the wolf underneath; it combined the agony and rapidity of the change. In some of the earlier movies, dictated by the tech of the time transformation was so lengthy you wondered what would happen if a hunter happened on them mid-turn:p

@prettywerewolf i love underworld and werewolves so i read up alot on this, the other werewolves are first generation, maning they wee created by the william (the first ever werewolf) these can never change back into human form unless they are killed. Lucian on the other hand was born from one of these werewolves but was born in human form which meant he was a second generation werewolf or lycan, he can control himself and knows what he is doing where as the 1st gen cant

@pyro80 yeah in terms of real transfomation, american werewolf in london is undoubtly the best, movies these days have transformations that last less than 10 seconds and look cool. the whole point of AWIL's form shows that it was a long, arduos and painful process which it should be. but then imo, a real werewolf doesnt go on all fours, that would be a dog, the whole point of a werewolf is that its a wolf but also a man and the upright posture retains that concept which AWIL fails to deliver :(
