  • Does yoyr tank have a sump set up or are you just using the fluval and the hang on skimmer

  • what is that tampon looking coral

  • they have a marineland euro style bow front fish tank oak at petsmart with tax i think its like 98 dollars for it and thats a deal dude

  • AWESOME tank man.. really great that youre still enjoying it and it looks this good after 4 or 5 years...

question: do you have problems with your dwarf angel nipping at soft corals?

  • do you ever have any problems with the coral beauty eating your polyps? if you used to because it clearly isn't eatting them, then how did you get it to stop because i wan't one but i keep hearing that they will eat polyps

  • Really nice setup.

  • Do you have any problems of high nitrates? Read a lot from forum. They said canister is not good for reef. Is that true? (p/s : I'm using Fluval 305 as well for my 29g fish & reef tank)

  • I have a fluval 305 on my 46 bow also. Is it nessesary to use a protein skimmer as well or can you manage just using the Fluval

  • how often do you add top off water to your tank? cause i just switched to 205 filter.

  • hows your prizm skimmer working? mine is kinda stop working after 2 weeks, i mean the pump still pumping but it just not strong enough or something.

  • Does this tank have canister filter or wet dry setup. Because I have 46 bow with Africans and thinking of doing saltwater but that size tank does not come reef ready and was told not to drill holes in bottom.

  • @mrsr6863

I use a fluval 305 canister for my tank. It works very well as long as you clean it every month. I clean mine out every 2 weeks. Hope this helps! : )

  • great tank! love it, whats the name of the tank as i am thinking of getting a marine tank around 46g :)

  • @canonboys

It's a 46 gallon bow front tank. Make sure if you get this size tank to keep the fish count to a minimum, 5-7 max. It will help keep your water levels stable. Good Luck!

  • nice !

  • @vaidas069

    Thanks!

  • how big is your yellow tang now?

  • @cookieskater1

I sold it back to the store about a year ago.

  • can you give me a list on what aquiptment you bought?

  • @blakennedy >>> Here is a list below.

46 gallon bow front tank. Fluval 305 Canister filter system, a Prizim Pro Deluxe Skimmer, 6 GLO T5HO light system, 1Hydor 115-60hz pump, 2 Mini-Jet 606 pumps, 1/13 HP Mighty Pro Chiller, 50lbs of Live Sand, and about 60lbs of live rock.

  • Hey how's the 305 filter doing? Thinking about buying one .

  • @silly8oi

Works great! I even used one for my 30 gallon tank.

  • How long have you had the yellow tang? Is he big now?

  • got the same setup different livestock

  • What do you use for substrate? I have crushed coral in my 29 gallon, but it never seems to stay clean very long. I am upgrading to a 55 gallon.

  • what kind of fillter you use?

  • @nayryehk

    Fluval 305 Canister filter system.

  • how often do you change your media on the Fluval?

  • @Eugene6988

Once every month, but i clean it every 2 weeks.

  • Haven't had any problems so far.

  • Does the canister filter helps corals o grow and the cansiter filter has a power head to give flow just like a sump tank?

  • 39 watts per.. 234 watts total.

  • pretty tang did it get any bigger

  • Nope. still around the same size.

  • in 4 years thats cool

  • so the angefish, does it eat or nip at any of your corals?

  • My Coral beauty has been really good. No nipping on coals.

  • emo nemo was the name of my black clown fish! =]

  • Are you dosing anything in your tank? If so, what are you using?

  • hey how is your yellow tang i have one in my 45 gallon a lot of people say to bring him back to my dealer do u think i should or will my yellow tang be ok in my 45 gallon

  • Hello! Everything i've heard so far is that a Yellow Tang should be in 60 gallons or more. My Tang seem to be doing fine, but i'm going to be purchasing a 150 gallon tank in the next couple of months. So i would say the bigger the tank the better off the fish will be in the long run. Hope this helps... good luck!

  • do u think my tang could hold off on a new tank for about a year by then i will have upgraded to a 100 gallon my tang seems to be dong fine no illnesses or anything a little territorial but not to bad

  • as long as you have a bit of swimming space, good filtration, well oxygenated water, and a good amount of water flow, your tang will be just fine.

  • has that yellow tang been doing well in there the whole four years you have had it?

  • DUMB question. Is anytghing in that tank fake?

  • LOL.. Everything is real in the tank. From the Live Rock to the Corals.

  • I must say. That doesnt look like its been up for 4 years.

  • i bet that cost ya

  • Hi, no most of the corals and frags i bought over the 4-5 yrs. But there are a couple of corals i have in the tank like the "Green Star Polyps" i"ve had since the beginning.

  • Did you add all your coral as frags 4 years ago?

  • Hi, nice tank- I am considering getting a fluval 305 for my 55 gallon tank- how hard is it to set up and maintain? I'm running a regular whisper 60 fitler now and its easy to keep up but I know the canisters are much better...

  • Hello, Thank you! I have always used a fluval filter even when i had my 30 gallon tank. They are easy to setup and require little maintenance. I clean it every 2 weeks, and change the carbon every 3 weeks. Hope this helps, and good luck!

  • I just purchased a fluval 305 and its very simple to set up. Took me 5-10 mins to get it set up/running and its very easy to maintain because its a canister with quick release hoses. All you do is release the hoses and take it where you clean it. It does an amazing job as well good luck.

  • how often do u change the carbon in the filter and the filter sponge ?

  • I change my carbon every 2-3 weeks, and the filter sponge every 6 months.

  • ummm. does your emerald crab attack any of your other animals in the tank?

  • no, i haven't had any problem with my emerald crab's, but they do like eating my saltwater plants.

  • Very nice tank.........

  • how many hours a day do you keep the lights on?

  • My lights are on 11 hours per day.

  • wow, that's a lot. Thanks:)

  • I thought a 46 gallon was too small for a yellow tang...

  • That is true! A yellow tang needs a 100g tank or more. I'm keeping a eye on how much he's growing and if he get's to big i will give him to my friend that has a 155 gallon bow front tank.

  • If your putting 2 vho bulbs over a tank this size you would be able to keep zoos, and mushrooms but probably nothing else. It takes alot of light to help make photosythesis for the corals. I would go 4 vho bulb min for a tank full of softies. Anemones and sps take lots of light. MH or t5 for sure. I have 6 54 watt ho t5 bulbs over my 100 gallon and i can grow pretty much anything, so the watts per gallon thing dont really work out. if you have any more questions feel free to ask

  • ok, well I'm looking at a fixture that fits 6 ho t5 lights which has 3 10,00k bulbs, and 3 actinic bulbs... I would be getting 234 watts in total...would this be good for all kinds of coral or just low/mid light ones?

  • u should be able to put most corals with that. how big is the tank? well how deep? Ive had great luck with t5's. I know they dont sound all mighty, but their PAR rating is very close to MH bulbs but you dont have the heat or high elctricity bills. My fixture came with similar bulbs, but I changed the bulb color after a year and have got even more light out put. Mine is good enough for sps and clams, im a firm beliver in t5's.

  • I have a 46 gallon bowfront tank that's roughly 20 inches deep...should this be enough for sps, and other high light corals?

  • beautiful tank!!! I'm looking to slowly turn my fish only setup into a reef, but I'm a bit new to the lighting aspect...about how many watts per gallon do you think would be sufficient for a reef like this?

  • watts per gallon is a terrible way to look at it. If a coral need 150 watts to live it needs it in a 10g or 100g. It really depends on what you want to grow. If you wanting to do softies, with maybe lps i would try a PC light. I put a high power t-5 fixture on my tank and can grow all the intense light corals. 4 t 5's, one MH bulb of around 150 watts, or a 4 bulb pc light would light up this tank nice...hope this helps alittle... Good luck :)

  • I was looking at about 2 VHO bulbs which would give me a bit over 4 WPG... I don't expect that to be sufficient for acropora, but I think it should be good for soft corals, some lps, and maybe an anemone... should I just start with this or go for more bulbs?
