These creeps are treating the whales like cows, BUT they're not
replenishing the ranks after hunting and killing them! Therefore, they
have no right to kill even ONE! If the whales do have toxins in their bodies, at least the one good thing that'll come of that is those who eat them will become poisoned. i recommend Seppuku to all Jap whalers. Blue Oyster Cult points out the facts most poetically: "History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man!"
My parents said we used to eat whales. But I don't eat them. In fact, I never saw whale meats in any supermarkets in my life. I know people don't believe me because I'm a jap right?
wadakoyo...I believe you. Why wouldn't I? Not all Japanese people are for whaling. Most Japanese are not supportive of whaling efforts, most don't care.
One problem is that whale meat is proving to be very toxic.
Thanks for believing what I've said. What you're saying is true I admit. If you want whale meat in Japan, & say you don't mind spending some money for it, it is possible to perchase them at particular places. Truth is, most people don't eat them, some rich ones do, period. You know that people don't think or care about anything other than spending their time happy.
But I'm here neither to support an idea nor defend my country's position.
I am here to learn. You are informative. Thank you!
@wadakoyo Japanese fish markets sell the whales, of course a supermarket aint gona sell whale. its highly illegal to fish for it , let alone sell it and let alone sell it an a mainstream supermarket
Aren't Fin Whales endangered anyway? So what's the point of killing them even for research? And can't Japan study these whales with non lethal options?
According to the estimation of the numbers of fin whales, 50 whales corresponds to 0.4% of all that species in antarctic sea. This amount should not affect their populations in future. Everything is going to be done properly by following the IWC rules. Emotional statement is always really bothering. Please take a look at the results from Japan's research and study the articles of IWC.
My argument is not that the species will be killed off. All whales are deserving of special protections, none should be killed and there is no method to humanely kill a whale.
Deadly toxins are found in many species of whales and dolphins and perhaps the people eating whale meat will harm themselves.
@Frenchwithnuclear You're entitled to your beliefs, and I respect that. But eating meat is in the Bible. Not eating whales though. In fact the only mention of whales in the Bible I recall is one that saved Jonah. That is a sign for me anyway that whales are not to be messed with.
I was always against violance, but believe me, whe I see this iocent victims - if I would have the money I would have hunt and kill every japanese and norway whale killer!!!!
It is simply because whale meat is considered a delicacy in Japan and is very expensive. The Japanese whaling fleet brings tens of millions of dollars to their economy. The "scientific whaling" they claim is not science and proves nothing.
I became a vegetarian four months ago, and frankly I live very well on my current diet. I limit myself to free range eggs and I tend to drink soy milk. If you would have asked me a year ago whether this was possible, I would have said you were absolutely crazy. I encourage everyone to look into vegetarianism, or at least cutting back on your meat intake. My personal view is that humans have evolved, in large part, past the point of where we are dependent on animal suffering for food.
May the ocean take revenge and send a massive Tsunami to devastate the entire island of Japan. Great ocean, let them feel the same pain which they inflict upon the whales.
Can you offer the source of your information? I know the 50 humpbacks originally targeted have been dropped from the agenda and 935 Minkes remain. Where did you find the information on Fins being added to the menu?
Certainly. The International Whaling Commission website, under Scientific Permit Whaling, Antartic (2) Jarpa II. In fact, Japan has killed fin whales in each of the last two seasons.
stop killing whales ... :(
