It is my understanding that she is Commander of the Order rather than DAME Commander because she, unlike Taylor and Andrews, gave up her English citizenship. I believe that Elizabeth Taylor retains duel citizenship. HOWEVER, they could make her an honorary Dame without stretching the rules.
