Many of these are not GW2 artwork. Some, such as @ 0:24, 0:44, and 1:04 are from Eye of the North and Utopia (the piece @ 1:15 is from Factions...). And I know at least the one @ 0:54, 1:35, and 1:45 are Kekai Kotaki's freelance work and aren't even related to Anet - and at least 4 others were possibly unrelated to GW as well (not bothering to look at Kekai's sites to tell, as those four I recognized as being Kekai's works)

I wish people would do some fact-checking before claiming something.

@sGaapJj Um, no, it was cancelled. They decided to make EoTN and GW2 /instead/. There are some concepts in these things that draw from Utopia's ideas, but Utopia was never made.

The reason Utopia was canceled, of course, was that they couldn't do some of the cool things they're doing in GW2, such as let you play non-human races, or swim, or animate weapons as well as they're going to, for game mechanics reasons. But GW2 is not Utopia, nor is EoTN.

I'd love to know your source for this art, where did you get it? Not because any of it looks fake, just because I recognize a lot of it as being Utopia art which was a scraped campaign and if that much of the Utopia art has transferred to Guild Wars 2 then I am excited.

Probably. I wouldn't see why we couldn't. I think some things might me limited though such as an Charr Assassin or Sylvari Necromancer but maybe not.

hm, probably they do that, it would be sad if a charr could be like just a warrior or something like that. but with the levels they're doing it different: when you reach lvl20 or like that, you don't get attribut points and so anymore, you can just level up and nothing really happens ^^ they're planning to do that, i think that's a good idea

the point of leveling is skill points and titles obviously you've never played guild wars. if you don't keep gaining skill points you can't learn additional skills, and there are hundreds.

arenanet, although based in washington d.c., works for ncsoft. ncsoft is based in korea. although arenanet is given full grant development-wise, gw still belongs to ncsoft, not arenanet.

also, just a lot of gw's developers work for ncsoft, not arenanet. this is because ncsoft wants reliable coders and artists guiding the talented young developers in arenanet. they want to make sure that gw and gw2 maintains the high-quality stuff that still sells even today.
