Like the others say I think it is bull heads u r catching the state record in ms is like 2 1/2 pds might want to check in to it but u need to keep ur livers in the blood until ur about to use them not put them in a cup dry another suggestion is try bottom fishing but keep ur line tight and u can feel when a fish is on or nibbling at ir
I put my liver in a blender with stinky cheese and blend it then i put cotton balss in it as fiber so it stays on the hook and had caught a 27 lb and 3 oz catfish on that bait in the hudson river i can get 20 to 30 catfish in 3 hours.
The smaller catfish feeds on the worms. for chicken liver, it would be best to drop shot it because catfish are bottom feeders. For some lakes, chicken liver works well for Striped bass too, but only during certain time of the year (season) over here at lake Norman NC
if the little ones are feeding the top waters the chiken liver should get the bigger ones on the bottom. if there are any. those cats look like brown bullheads. if that's the cad ten inch is big. happy fishing
u could dry them out and but u have to add something else like garlic so the chiken liver could smell.
I'm going to make a video this sunday and i will show how to hook a chiken liver and throw it and a catch one if possibel cause in san diego catfish are slow in winter. You also try beef liver but that works only in summer but i will try this sunday if it work in winter.
hi uncle steve i change im mrchulochulo i just chage my user name to tell if the tissue is hard just get and you could feel it hard and some chicken livers have nerve that is white that will keep it on the hook and use magic tred or and kind of string to keep on the hook
try again with chicken liver but this time try to get chicken livers with hard tissue and hook it lot of time and to be secured tie it on with any kind of string and that will stay on your hook. and dont use a bober do bottom fishing cat fish feed in th bottom.
@mrchulochulo12 Let me ask you this question: what will it say on the package to let me know the livers have hard tissue? Chicken livers are not hard to find and they are "local" (NC is the 2nd largest chicken growing-processing state).
@tundraking123 I'm going to do what you suggest this coming summer.
I have noticed that on a hot summer day nightcrawlers in a cup "rot" and die in a couple of hours.
I've also noticed that rotting nightcrawlers are a super treat for river fish. Easy hooking!
The rotting process is bacterial growth gone wild. Yogart is controlled bacterial conversion of milk. Numerous flavored cheeses are based on specialized bacterial growths and conversion.
they can tell the chicken liver is in a sac. Put the chicken liver on the hook and wrap dental floss around it to keep it on the hook. CHicken liver will catch bigger cats.
I have a video that shows you what a typical bream (eating size bluegill in this case) looks like: /watch?v=gpWvvgFICPA
The **middle** fish is a bluegill, a kind of bream.
GOOGLE this word: Lepomis The wikipedia page lists the various bream fishes typical here in NC...and if you click on each species in the list, the pictures are beautiful.
im the one that was on nc angler.. try beef liver also alot tougher then chicken liver.. make sure you run the hook through the center of the sack so when the fish takes it you can get a proper hookset.
@Kattfish11 yes i feel the same way i was cat fishing yesterday and i caught 3 18 inch catfish in about 45 mins this way

you have to fish a little deeper for catfish instead of using a cork

@fishmaster619 One of the really good fisherman on ncangler.com mentioned last week how he prepares chicken livers. He DRIES them out.
That's what I will try next.

I went back the next evening and fished with chicken liver sacs made of other materials.
NO FISH CAUGHT in 40 minutes.
I fished for 20 minutes with night crawler: 7" cat, 12" cat, small bream.
