I still have this on VHS and now on DVD. I remember watching this on TV the week after Sergei's passing and being in tears the entire part of this program. There has never been another G and G and never will be. I still remember hearing his passing on the news and wondering how it could be true. My grandpa passed away 3 years exactly after Sergei, tough day for me, but I have never forgotten him and Katia's skating.

I tried but could not watch the 2010 winter olympics. I thought of Katia and Sergei everytime I looked at an ice event. I know that Katia is not living she is existing and everything since Sergei is just substitute because we must go on. I know the love they had; I had the same and I died with him in 1993 but love him more and more every day. I am not afraid of death because I know the sadness that is in me and Katia will end when we are reunited with them when our time comes. You're loved.

I remember seeing this tribute the Saturday after Segei died on ABC. I cried through the whole broadcast, and it still makes me cry watching it again 14 years later. Katia is such a strong woman and so proud of her to have made a new life for herself with a new family. But watching this again I think something in er died when Sergei was taken from her. They were magical, the best ever.

CBS ran a tribute like this on the day of his funeral, which I taped on a VCR at the time but I've never seen it online. It was narrated by Verne Lundquist, it was probably about as long as this one and ended with "The Man I Love."

I read Katia's book when it first came out in the late 90s, and I soaked the pages with my tears. One of the most beautiful love stories ever, but also one of the saddest. Really drives home the point that you must live each day, because regardless of your age or your success etc., you never know which day will be your last. Continued blessings for Katia, Ilia and the girls. This woman deserved happiness and it seems like she found it. I know Sergei would be proud of her.

Hi Italianjen29. I was able to download the track from iTunes. It's from the soundtrack to the movie "The Scarlet Letter" staring Demi Moore. The track is simply called "Love Theme" (and sometimes "Love Scene") by John Barry.

You could always tell from Sergie's face how much he loved Katia and Daria. They were all so perfect together, I hate to see it end. It makes me cry every time I look at their face. They just loved each other so much. I hope Daria still remembers a little bit of her amazing father today. We all miss Sergei. This is a fairy tale that you will never find again!!

Sergei went so suddenly, and so soon. I do hope that Daria has some memories of him. Katia went on to have a daughter with Ilia Kulik, and she married him. How terrible that she was so critized for this. Katia went on with her life. The critics really trashed her, supposedly for not honoring Sergei's memory. How nasty and mean of them.

@ddragondreamer So true. Katya was a very young woman when Sergei died. It would have been unhealthy for both Katya and her daughter to live without the love of a husband/father.

I'm very happy she found happiness with Ilia Kulik.

Sergei seemed like such an amazing man. No one had anything but wonderful things to say about him. You could tell he just adored Katya and Daria. What an incredible team he and Katya made. They were the best there ever was. It was such a tragic loss to the sport when Sergei died. I don't think we realized the magic we were watching every time they stepped out onto that ice, until it was gone forever. Sergei is so missed and he will never be forgotten.

I still remember watching this on TV. It was the first skating competition after his death/funeral. I still remember being at Katia's first solo performance, I still remember crying the night he died and stayed up watching tapes of G&G skating...11/20 I also lost my grandpa...still will bring out a tape and watch this pair, they were truly the best.

I love the music at the start of this tribute. It's wonderfully poignant. I spent several hours on the web yesterday attempting to find out its name and composer. At a hunch I turned to composer John Barry, and it is indeed one of his compositions - Love Theme from the movie The Scarlet Letter (1995).

It still makes me cry, thinking of this couple being separated far too soon. I was only nine years old when he died, but I loved watching them skate together, they were perfect on and off the ice.

Thank you for posting this. Altho it's been over 10 years, it still hurts as if I knew him. A huge loss to the skating world, but a much bigger personal loss to his wife, daughter, and mother.
