This is a good classification but it is not based on same charateristic for athletes: you have put in your video before powerful athletes and then at first place a endurance one. However, I consider Kenesisa Bekele the best athlete on the world too
wow if you really knew anything at all about being a athlete there would only be one sprinter in this countdown. and he would'nt be in the top five. think about what makes an athlete an athlete??? lets pick a few criteria speed, agility, explosive power, and possibly some endurance. i am very sorry i am more of a track fan than anyone and bekele does not belong on this list at all if you line him up in a series of tests like 40 standing long jump and maybe med ball throw he would be last!
c'mon dude u seem like a track guy. where's bryan clay??? ten events for one, hasnt lost since the olympics, master of ten events, and his sparq rating is higher than any other player tested in the NFL. also i dont see too many international athletes in the bottom five.
@Cacace1095 yeah I am a track guy lol. I didn't know it was so obvious, I run cross country and track at my highschool and I'm varsity at both, they're really fun and intense sports. To be more accurate I should just make a top 10 team sports(football, basketball, soccer, etc.) athletes video and a top 10 track athletes video. As for Bryan Clay, yeah he's crazy and should be on here, but Ashton Eaton holds the world record in the decathalon(or is heptathalon) so he's get the nod over him
@Pandamatrix85 knew it!!! lol yea Eaton will soon be the best (in my mind) but for rite now Clay does have him in the decathlon, slightly more prestigious than the heptathlon. while eaton does beat clay in the heptathlon, clay defeats eaton in the decathlon by about 600 points (as of today, in a few years it could be very different lol). Also, i would consider trey hardee before eaton. he is very close to clay in the heptathlon, and actually holds the NCAA Decathlon record which Eaton failed
@Cacace1095 also so you know track and field is based entirely on athleticism unlike many other sports, all of the track greats could easily be good at all the other sports but choose to be the best pure athlete.
@PatTheHurricane Not so. Lots of technique goes into track and field, and you may be surprised if some boxer (just an example), took to track and field instead, they may have been faster than everyone. You never know. Also, I can't see some of these guys having the genetics to excel against somebody like Alexander Karelin in hi heyday at Greco-Roman wrestling. He would have folded them in half, salted them and eaten them.
@abbeykroeter I'm a pretty successful track and field athlete, so I think i understand how much athleticism it takes to run say a sub 5:00 mile, and i know people who are very talented in many forms or martial arts and they, more then anything else, are simply educated on what they do. If you look at most successful track athletes they come from a long line of athletes, there skill is there simple and pure athleticism.
@KCM1o6 Lebron's really fast although he doesn't get recognized for it, and he can jump high(aka high vertical) and he's really strong, and he plays a lot of minutes so he has good conditioning, all in all he's a great athlete
Btw, Brian Clay should prbly be first ahead of anyone else. He's the world champion in the decathlon which pretty much quantifies athleticism... Calvin Johnson should be in there too prbly around Moss.
I understand your points, but I don't think Bekele is a better athlete than Bolt. They're both equally adept at their main fields (sprinting and long distance respectively). Bolt should be able to run a mean 1600 just as Bekele could run a good 400m. But Bolt is superior in almost every other athletic field-- strength, jumping ability, reflexes (sprinters need good reflexes to start), etc.
I understand your points, but I don't think Bekele is a better athlete than Bolt. They're both equally adept at their main fields (sprinting and long distance respectively). But Bolt is superior in almost every other athletic field-- strength, jumping ability, reflexes (sprinters need good reflexes to start), etc.
Bekele Is the best athlete. when you watch him run 6 and a half mile on the track its insane. He probly ha the speed to be a decent sprinter but to be able to run 6 mile in like under 28 mins is insane
@TheDruidfreak idk in truth I know more NFL and NBA players than other athletes, in track and distance running you only know the elite of the elite, in NFL and NBA you know just about everyone
@MYgunman um, not sure about 400m, should use mile instead
Mile time and corresponding cardio level: sub 8 minute-fit/healthy and somewhat good cardio, sub 7 minute-moderatley fast and moderately good cardio, sub 6 minute-fast and good cardio, sub 5 minute-very fast and very good cardio, sub 4- world class miler and world class cardio
While I'm sure Bikele is a much better athlete than most distance runners at his fitness level, he doesn't compare to guys like Randy Moss, Bo Jackson, LeBron James, Deion Sanders, etc.
Great athletes are born, not made. Cyclists, runners, sprinters, are one-dimensional.
Explosiveness, coordination, speed, reaction time, and balance can't be taught on a gym or on a track. They can be improved slightly, but they are traits you're born with, unlike strength or stamina.
@eja642 I understand your points, however all kinds of people are born with exceptional talent, but there are so many things that go into being an athlete and its more than just the flashy things like in your points that people are born with, our society has the misconception that all those things in your points are the athletic traits but they're only some of them
ex: you could have a 4.2 40 and 45 inch vertical but you might not be able to run a mile and therefore you aren't athletic
I don't consider conditioning to be part of athleticism. Athleticism is what you're born with. Explosiveness, coordination, speed, balance, instincts. Stuff you can't really improve through training, some of it you can improve minimally, but not like strength or stamina. Which is why I think it's unfair to put one dimensional T&F athletes in front of some of these guys.
We know those sprinters are fast, but are they coordinated or balanced? Can they do anything but run?
if you run a sub 4.3 40, and have over a 45 inch vertical but you run a 8:30 all out mile are you athletic? no, but by your logic he's fast, explosive, etc. but he isn't in very good shape, and therefore not a great athlete, how athletic someone is has to do with all dimensions of personal fitness not just the flashy ones like speed, strength, and explosiveness
Bekele has the best lungs of anyone on the planet, this is evidenced by his oxygen uptake rate(how much oxygen you can breathe in and how much you use) of 85(not sure the measurement just know the numbers) which is the highest ever recorded(Lance Armstrong's is 84), at any given time only one human on the planet has an 85 which is the highest ever recorded and therefore probably the most humanly possible, so yeah just throwing that out there
i agree with you bekele is amazing. But based on pure athleticism, he cannot compare to any NFL/NBA players. But, by the way you are talking, what you have here is not the 10 most athletic people, it is the 10 people who are the best in their respective sports. By that standard, Tiger Woods should definetly be on here. He has dominated his sport much more thoroughly than Bekele has dominated his.
Bekele has a quite demeanor and brushes off and doesn't really answer interviews therefore the media doesn't talk about him and his accomplishments are incredibly underappreciated, if he got the respect he deserves everyone who follows sports would know Bekele is absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt the greatest athlete in the history of the planet, many experts believe Bekele could run a marathon under 2 hours(4:35 mile pace), and that would be the single best acheivement in sports history
this fucking top ten doesn't make any sense, if you're basing it on pure athleticism, how the hell could you put Bekele as number 1? Yes he has insane endurance, but that's only one small aspect of being an athlete. Bekele cannot do any true athletic feats (dunks, jumps, lifts, etc.). Obviously those sprinters should not be on there either seeing as they are nowhere as good an athlete as anybody in the nba/nfl. You seem to think that all that entails a good athlete is how fast they can run.
@mattyco1234 NFL and NBA have great athletes. But you can't give me a list of the best NFL QB or WR which people agree with. Fitzgerald or Moss? QBs Brees, Brady, Manning? Everyone will have a different opinion. Who is the best sprinter? BOLT hands down no one would disagree. Distance Runner? Bekele, the most dominant 5k, 10k runner EVER. They make everyone else in their events look like Amateurs. The difference between Bolt & Bekele and their competitors says it all. They stand above all
bryan clay should definately be on this list, decathletes show that they are good at most everything. Nike has done testing on bryan clay and a bunch of nfl players, and the tests show that he would be the most athletic player in the nfl
The only athlete that could be above Bolt would be Bekele. In all honesty it's kind of a toss up between the two. Both are so incredibly dominant in their own races. I think I'd have to give it to Bekele for now though. In two or three more years see where Bolt and Bekele stand and it might be different.
@DarkMage530 What they do? Run,run and run!!! Do you ever thought about, thouse artists of the Decathlon??? They are atletes to... Do you know what means, training for 10 different modalities, and be good to reach the Gold Medal? I do admire Bolt and Bekele, but they only have to make body sacrifices, for one modality... So long DarkMage.
No doubt decathletes are amazing athletes. I will not deny that. But there is no dominant decathlete currently. Bryan Clay won 08 Olympics, Trey Hardee won Worlds in 09. That shows inconsistency in the Decathlon Event. If Roman Sebrle were still competing and if this were 2005-2007 then by all means I would be discussing Sebrle along with Bekele. But it's 2010 and the fact of the matter is Bolt and Bekele are so dominant at what they do and no Decathlete is putting up comparable marks.
Bolt has lost in the 100m dash during his professional carreer.
Bekele has NOT lost in the 10,000m during his professional carreer.
Bolt has 3 world records.
Bekele has 5 world records (2 of them are indoor marks).
Bekele just isn't in the limelight because he doesn't have the fan appeal Bolt does and less people care about distance running, so less people know how good Bekele really is.
how is tyson gay ranked 4th? hes the fastest us sprinter in history! lebron hasnt broken record the first but have him ranked in front of world record holders. and should easily be number one, hes the fastest in the sprints by miles. and has broken world records that was thought to last for another ten years or so. with no strain at all.
@cm426 Lebron James is higher than Tyson Gay because he's stronger, in better shape(in terms of stamina and what not), and he can out jump him, Gay would beat Lebron in a sprint but Lebron's a lot faster than he's given credit for
Randy Moss?! How?! Bolt should be #1 Moss shouldn't be on this list and Larry Fitzgerald should be somewhere though I don't know where. DRC and Hall shouldn't be on the list IMO but that's argueable. Hester should take Hall's place and Fitzgerald should take Moss's
Hester sucks now, FITZ is a good player not great athlete, DRC and Hall are hella fast and can jump incredibly high therfore extremely athletic, and Moss is the most athletic player in NFL history and is most athletic in NFL today, and Bolt is a sprinter and our society thinks if someone sprints fast then they are thletic but that isn't true, you could run a 10.5 or less 100 meter and only run like 6-8 minute mile and therefore aren't very athletic
Hester sucks as a player I agree but the parameters for this was best ATHLETE and regardless of how Hester plays he is still a better athlete than Hall. Fitz is a great athlete notice how a big number of his catches are 1 handed or leaping over people, that takes athleticism. As for Moss, you're obviously blinded by the fact that you're a Pat's fan so I will let that delusion pass uncontested. As for Bolt I agree with what you said but you need better defined parameters for "athlete"
@Caldwell1132, true I need to define athlete better, as for Fitz he's slow(like Jerry Rice) but he has certain qualities of a great athlete, Moss has 51 inch vertical Michael Jordan has 48 inch, and Moss ran a 4.25 40, Hall is stronger faster , better stamina and better leaper than Hester, Hester just doesn't hav "it" anymore, he doesn't seem as fast as he used to be and never struck me as someone with good stamina and is really weak and can hardly jump for an NFL wideout
The fact that Moss' vertical is taller than Jordan's doesn't impress me.....he's a football player, he has to jump with full pads on. To me it seems understood that he should be able to jump higher. Drew Brees dunked the ball on the field goal wearing full pads and that's a white boy..... regardless... Yes Moss is fast and yes Moss can jump high. However, Moss is not quick, he doesn't make sharp cuts to get open which is why he pushes off so damn much. And he SUCKS in traffic.
@Caldwell1132 he has gotten more mature recently in his later years and now has better concentration and can actually catch in traffic, simply put.....Moss is easliy the best Wide receiver of all time but sometimes he just doesn't show up and will practically rape you when he does show up
Randy Moss is not the best WR of all time. You're deluded by the fact that you're a Pats fan obviously because you think Moss the best WR and Brady the best QB. I won't continue to debate this with you because there's no way I can overcome your team pride therefore we must agree to differ.
James and Bolt are at the top. I love how Woods and Jimmy Johnson arent on here, despite winning athlete of the decade/year (maybe its cuz they dont play real sports. But where the hell is the 4x MVP manning!?!?
This video is top ten athletes and its based on who are the top 10 most atheletic and I don't think Manning is very athletic(he probably runs a 5-6 40 and 7 minute mile, average everyday people that are considered healthy do that) thats why he isn't on here
@tropicAces, I know who Freeney is but idk who Martin is, Freeney is a ferocious pass rusher and is very good but the problem is he's a great player, not a great athlete, (for example he probably runs a 4.4-4.8 40 and a 5-6 minute mile, highschool football jocks and highschool track/cross country runners are about that good so for a pro athlete he doesn't make the list, also he's a finese pass rusher so he isn't very strong either)
@Pandamatrix85 DAMN IT! stop throwing out these fancy facts! And im not saying Kevin Martin is a great athlete, but just look him up. Pretty good. Anyway, let me try BOB SANDERS!!?? Great player and athlete!
sorry, people get mad at me when I use too many facts, my bad, I should stop, and yes i'll look up Kevin Martin in my free time, as for Bob Sanders he's a phenomenal athlete and would make this list if it were top 25 maybe top 20, he's extremely fast hits hard and is extremely strong if he would stayhealthy he'd be having a HOF career too bad he's always injured though
absolutely no arguing with your choices mate, but if bekele is first and gebresselase and zersenay tadese (dont know if ive spelt them right) are almost as good as bekele, then surely they deserve a place in the top 10?
All im sayin is the title should have maybe been a bit more specific, like top 10 athletes in ball games/athletics. or top 10 powerfl athletes, cos the first 9 are associated with power/speed whereas bekele is the exact opposite.
thanks bro, and power, speed, stamina, jumping, etc. are just part of how athletic someone is and the list is just top 10 overall based on all those things, so thats why I gave it the name "Top 10 Athletes Right Now"
This is a good classification but it is not based on same charateristic for athletes: you have put in your video before powerful athletes and then at first place a endurance one. However, I consider Kenesisa Bekele the best athlete on the world too

As for Moss, you're obviously blinded by the fact that you're a Pat's fan so I will let that delusion pass uncontested. As for Bolt I agree with what you said but you need better defined parameters for "athlete"
Caldwell1132 2 years ago
@Caldwell1132, true I need to define athlete better, as for Fitz he's slow(like Jerry Rice) but he has certain qualities of a great athlete, Moss has 51 inch vertical Michael Jordan has 48 inch, and Moss ran a 4.25 40, Hall is stronger faster , better stamina and better leaper than Hester, Hester just doesn't hav "it" anymore, he doesn't seem as fast as he used to be and never struck me as someone with good stamina and is really weak and can hardly jump for an NFL wideout
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
The fact that Moss' vertical is taller than Jordan's doesn't impress me.....he's a football player, he has to jump with full pads on. To me it seems understood that he should be able to jump higher. Drew Brees dunked the ball on the field goal wearing full pads and that's a white boy..... regardless... Yes Moss is fast and yes Moss can jump high. However, Moss is not quick, he doesn't make sharp cuts to get open which is why he pushes off so damn much. And he SUCKS in traffic.
Caldwell1132 2 years ago

This video is top ten athletes and its based on who are the top 10 most atheletic and I don't think Manning is very athletic(he probably runs a 5-6 40 and 7 minute mile, average everyday people that are considered healthy do that) thats why he isn't on here
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
lol ok good point. But dwight freeney or kevin martin? look at some video of them
tropicAces 2 years ago
@tropicAces, I know who Freeney is but idk who Martin is, Freeney is a ferocious pass rusher and is very good but the problem is he's a great player, not a great athlete, (for example he probably runs a 4.4-4.8 40 and a 5-6 minute mile, highschool football jocks and highschool track/cross country runners are about that good so for a pro athlete he doesn't make the list, also he's a finese pass rusher so he isn't very strong either)
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
@Pandamatrix85 DAMN IT! stop throwing out these fancy facts! And im not saying Kevin Martin is a great athlete, but just look him up. Pretty good. Anyway, let me try BOB SANDERS!!?? Great player and athlete!
tropicAces 2 years ago
sorry, people get mad at me when I use too many facts, my bad, I should stop, and yes i'll look up Kevin Martin in my free time, as for Bob Sanders he's a phenomenal athlete and would make this list if it were top 25 maybe top 20, he's extremely fast hits hard and is extremely strong if he would stayhealthy he'd be having a HOF career too bad he's always injured though
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
@tropicAces, btw are you a Colts fan? you keep mentioning Colts players, also the most athletic person on their team is Bob Sanders
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
yes i am a colts fan lol. But i could name other players i guess.. like Trent Edwards (jk). And whos ahead of Sanders that he makes the top 20?

I just wanna say thanks to whoever gave my vid 5 stars, and btw if anyone else gives it 5 stars that would be great too, Peace
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
that list is messed up
MahDog18 2 years ago
how, its based on how athletic they are, I think I made that pretty clear, so whats wrong with it?(in your opinion)
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
absolutely no arguing with your choices mate, but if bekele is first and gebresselase and zersenay tadese (dont know if ive spelt them right) are almost as good as bekele, then surely they deserve a place in the top 10?
All im sayin is the title should have maybe been a bit more specific, like top 10 athletes in ball games/athletics. or top 10 powerfl athletes, cos the first 9 are associated with power/speed whereas bekele is the exact opposite.
speedyslime93 2 years ago
thanks bro, and power, speed, stamina, jumping, etc. are just part of how athletic someone is and the list is just top 10 overall based on all those things, so thats why I gave it the name "Top 10 Athletes Right Now"
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
i think usain should be one, he's doing things the world's never seen before...while not even trying
OneS1ght 2 years ago
thats cause he's the best sprinter ever, but Bekele is a better athlete
Pandamatrix85 2 years ago
FAIL. Bekele lover.
