american trucks, cars, bykes, etc.....are dinosaurs and should have been extinct for a long time .... do not encourage delay, inefficiency and decadence ...
japanese trucks are the best far....american are square, inefficient engines, contaminant, old designs -no modern-, no compact in a word.......horrible....6.6 engine is not efficient....
@escuipo are you stupid? The nissan/mitsubishi/toyota truck can't tow even the trailer to a boat, screw the trailer AND a boat. they are unproductive. Economy trucks. useless. go take your japaneese shit somewhere else and leave it to American trucks to get the big boy stuff done.
@JDYDesigns american trucks and cars are shit...and the bigs trucks are the worst...example is not a reasonable comparison between a swedish truck like Volvo or Scania (so mordern, sleek and beautiful)with the old fashioned and obsolete american counterpart (Freightliner,Peterbilt,Mack,Intntnl,etc.)...with small trucks are the same japanese, chinese or german trucks are the best...the same with the vans,cars,bykes,SUVs,etc...american industry is out of time...American industry remained in the 70s
@escuipo Are you stupid? It's called a "semi" you retarded dipshit. not a "big truck" Dumbass nigger. American vehicles usually NEVER brake down. Ever. When was the last time a nissan was named the truck of the year?oh yeah, NEVER DUMBASS. Jap trucks cant really do shit, they are cheap ass economy cars made for daily driving, not actual work. No the japanese industry remained in the 80s while everyone else moved on. Jap shit is CHEAP ECONOMY CRAP and nothing more. I wouldnt be caught DEAD in one
@JDYDesigns semi or whatever it be the american cars are pure shit and yes breaks downs frequently because their engines are obsolete,is known that the yankees are awarded only to themselves ... that is not news .... Japanese cars are superior in all things that ameri(cans) cars and that is an indisputable truth .... just in the 70 and above in the 80s the world realized the superior quality of Japanese cars and just to be sure no one is less likely to die in one of them even a fool like you
@escuipo the world? then why hasn't a japanese car gotten any awards? why are they always in the mechanic shop? why are they cheap economy shit? oh yeah, because they are not obsolete, and you're a dumbass fanboy who can't take the fact that it's CHEAP SLOW SHIT. Buy Jap cars you support Obama, and nobody likes that. Look, i tried to tow a boat in a nissan truck, IT COULD BARELY TOW JUST THE TRAILER. Screw that AND the boat. those trucks can barely go uphill towing nothing, they are junk.
its not about how the truck preforms for the driver, its about how well the driver can actually use the truck and back it up. and instead of bitching about american trucks bitch about fagyota and nissian
Better than that japenese piece of shit called CHEVY! Motor trends fag truck of the year and use only in the city. Chevy had their chance and they blew it, Fords better just face it
@gorfnation do research isuzu designed the engine which isuzu is a division of general motors and after that GM's division DMAX makes the engine in ohio so its made in the USA.
@trainsimulator2 don't be innocent the technology is japanese that is so,so,so far advanced than american...others cars are made in USA and under brands that are a division of GM like the Chevrolet Cruze (Corean Car)...and others...
GM is junk!! their customer service sucks!! they allow dealers to install Tiawan aftermarket accessories like hub caps, door handles and mirrors, then when the crap parts fly off your car and you try to get them replaced the dealer and GM says too bad too sad and advises you to look at the very very fine print in your contract where GM allowed the dealer to install the crap parts that have no warranty, BUY FORD!!
we have a 2006 chevy silverado 1 ton with 460,000 km!! and it's still well working, we had no problems with it before the snow plow sweeze it into a wall. Now, going to buy the new 2011!
Be sure and check out "Top of the Line" by Darwin Haack on youtube. He wrote and sang this original song over 20 years ago and we just got my son, Josh Tripplehorn, to put it to video. It's quite good and GM should consider making this the new theme song for the new Chevy Truck. (or even Gm itself) Take a look and tell us what you think.
Why don't you fix the damn DEF tank problems that have been affecting many owners including myself? Thanks for rushing a flawed product to market. Your software engineers should all be fired. They couldn't write a line of quality code to save their ars.
atvfan18, i have always wanted a diesel truck. after going to a coal plant to visit my brother and seeing the carnage one the side of the roads. my mind was made up. i to was open minded till then, but now i am down to two choices. i hqvve made my choie and couldn't be happier.
volgreg, i dont care who does the test, chevy bullshits with the best of them. an independent test would be best. if you think i believe chevys test, you must be crazy.
I guess no one has seen the new test results that were done compairing apples to apples, 2011 to 2011, powerstrok vs duramax. Duramax loses in all tests. Couple that with their front drive line that is substandard in all counts. The PSD comes out on top every time. I grew up on chevy but when they changed from a solid axle to independent front suspension, especially on a diesel, I walked away and have kept on walking, call me Forest Gump if you like. We will just have to see how the PSD does.
@lawnboy1965 what test are you tlking about?? the one on fords website?? every test i've watched other than ford's own bullshit test they always do....... the powerstroke loses. but hey claim what you want either way ill take the chevy
@lawnboy1965 I heard pretty much the complete opposite as you, but whatever. Honestly, if I could have any of the 2011 big 3 trucks (powerstroke, duramax, cummins) I would be happy as hell. I'm not a brand loyal douche like most.
Does the new Duramax have a compacted graphite block? I blew the engine in my Corvette, and would love to drop in a Duramax, but I need to shed some weight first. I heard a rumor the new one would have a CGI block. Any truth to the rumors?
im a Chev/Ford man.... I like both trucks.... But Ford (as of now) has more power...but only by like 9hp or so, just enough for them to bloat about it
im a Chev/Ford man.... I like both trucks.... But Ford (as of now) has more power...but only by like 9hp or so, just enough for them to bloat about it
@clintlorisa Ford diesel trucks have been the laughing stock of the truck world since the 7.3 was killed. I don't know what world you're living in, but Ford diesels are horrible; go to a country truck pull sometime and see how "class leading" those Ford's really are.
2011, Ford, Chevy, Dodge. You be the judge... I've already driven them all, not only just "watched" some propaganda video. BTW Chev tech of 2 yrs and i have 6.0 and 6.4 Ford experience and know they are crap complared to the 6.6. But Ford's new 6.7 takes it all
@clintlorisa I've been to countless pulls over the years, and I have never seen a Ford win a truck pull. No, there was one, but it had a 5.9 Cummins in it. The Powerstrokes can barley pull past the 200 ft mark. I have not seen the new 6.7 in action though. They probably are better than the 6.0 and 6.4--it can't get much worse. But I'm not convinced it can compete with the Cummins and Dmax just because of Fords horrible track record with diesel since the 7.3 was killed.
@gunking121 Horsepower and torque numbers arent everything. The design, engineering, manufacturing, and parts that go into the engine is what really makes the engine what it is. And frankly, Ford's diesel engineering has sucked over the past decade or so.
@farmerallis ok...torque and power IS everthing buddy....and right now ford is on the top for the strongest diesel pickup truck....dodge in 2nd chevy in 3rd toyota in 4th and so on and so fourth....ford is supirior
@gunking121 You really are an idiot. HP and TQ is not NEARLY what determines how much or how well a truck (or anything for that matter) can pull/perform. Take for example farm tractors, the most powerful production tractor puts out 600 HP. Now a diesel pickup can make 600 HP fairly easily with some modifications (except for a Ford), but the tractor can pull a hell of a lot more than that 600 HP truck. You can boast the most power, but is it efficient, reliable, dependable, effective, etc?
@farmerallis no shit sherlock...and btw iam a dodge fan but i love the ford powerstrokes...they are stronger faster and have more pulling power....ford and dodge are better then the chevy just chevy can make really really sexy vehicals
@farmerallis Horsepower and torque determine alot of pulling power. The only reason a tractor can pull more than what a truck can with the same horsepower is because of weight and transmission differences. Hell of a lot more traction. (my family farms 1800 acres and we log :D) Now I do agree with you that Ford has slacked a hell of a lot on engines since the 7.3. The 6.0 all in all was a great idea of an engine, but it couldn't stand the test of a day and you blew gaskets or egr failure.
@RacingRocks12 my head is not shoved up my aqss cock sucker....typical chevy fan fuck....thinkin they are best....iam a dodge fan but i kno when a truck is better u fuckin cunt
@farmerallis I'm sorry for you're "Country Truck Pulls", but around here, just about every farm truck is a FORD diesel, usually beat to hell, and still running like a champ. Practicality. Simple as that, a Truck pull doesn't show a trucks potential, real use on a farm shows a trucks potential, under real world uses, but I'm not saying any of them are better, Just that American made is the way to go.
@MotocrossPenguinPro It all depends where you're from. Around here Chevy and Dodge run the farms and do the real work. The people that buy Fords are just the ones that pull a 30' boat around for 6 weeks in the summer; they never really put them to work.
"...Just that American made is the way to go." - Agreed, 'nuff said.
@farmerallis I feel yahs man ...Boss man bought a 2011 f-350 a month ago now its in the shop because the turbo went out on the diesel...I guess you get what you paid for.
@clintlorisa hmmm have you ever tried having a conversation next to a Ford Diesel? you have to SCREAM AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS. Ford is a joke, especially their diesels, and i know from experience. Im a former ford guy, my new 2011 Chevy Silverado would eat my 2010 Ford alive. But maybe its because the ford broke down again.
@clintlorisa So months later, and my brother bought a 2011 Ford F-250 diesel, the ford is definetly not as loud as my 2010,but it is louder than my Chevrolet. Plus, my Chevy pulled his Ford out of the mud last week. I love the way Ford trucks look, inside and out, but Chevy has always been more reliable for me. Just preference i guess.
well as for fords " bullet proof " 7.3 liter.... Thats actually an International.. sooo that being said unless you own a new ford diesal or the 7.3 your ford is a turd statisticaly..
EUD fuel also requires other components be applied as well, such as recovery of lubricity factors, lost during the hydratreating process to reduce sulfur content, which is not required to comply to EPA/CARB standards. Example: from Ford UK, you can buy a Mondeo (Taurus) with a 3.0L V-6 EcoBoast Ford Diesel (Turbo, CommonRail, DInjection) that out performs the US petrol version (0-60 times, topspeed, etc.) yet gets 56 mpg Ultra-Urban vs USA 3.0L V-6 petrol Taurus rated @ 34 mpg Highway!
In the US, diesel fuel is manufactured by a process called "refractory distillation", but EUD fuel (European Union Diesel) is actually manufactured by a more complex refining process to comply with the stricter EU standards relating to fuel quality. No such standards exist for US diesel fuels. EUD fuel requires a minimum 51 cetane rating (no min standard in US, though US blenders have guaranteed a min 38 C for the engine designers). The EPA allows a max 15ppm sulfur base, EUD is 10ppm max, etc..
He's damn right. Duramaxes won't quit on you with the right break in period and maintenance. They'll run until you sell the truck or run it off a cliff, whichever comes first. :)
you mean to tell me GM associates themselves with the Japanese I thought it was all about 100% American made and designed. Why couldn't GM have designed a
decent diesel without being involved with the JAPANESE????
@maderman101@TheHorefrost In 2008, Toyota bought 5.6% of the Japanese Isuzu corporation, specifically their mid-range diesel division. Almost immediately, Toyota and GM reached a temporary agreement on the licensing of GM to build and continue to use Isuzu technology for the Duramax (Duramax is a GM trademark) engine, but GM engineering was already moving ahead on some of their own design work as well. In Europe, GM uses Ford and Nino (Toyota) for their small displacement diesel engines.
im a chevy fan but i heard ford came out with a new responce to this engine making 800 ft/lb... i would love to see chevy's responce to that in the next year or 2!
I drove one yesterday, I have to give a speech about it at school, and WOW. I was shocked at how smooth the ride was, and how quit it was. 20mpg! Im 18 and i drove a $53k truck yesterday 765ft lb wow.
Use clean diesel engines in the CTS, Malibu, and Impala lines. Better fuel milage and more power :D
Also, i'm waiting till' the diesel modding community gets a hold of these new 6.6l's and start making after market parts, i'd imagine these engines are detuned and can make much more power than 685 lb-ft
GM didn't have shit for diesel until Isuzu bailed them out the 6.5 was a Oldsmobile diesel that couldn't haul a basket full of TOENAILS up a small grade. The only reason they are where they are today is because of the JAPANESE. The Japs didn't need a bailout either. GM should of went under we'd all be better off driving Prius
@TheHorefrost The duramax is a isuzu design ( whom is owened by GM) and is manufactured by GM. The Duramax engine came out around 2001 which was when GM was no where near built in japan. GM's were built in japan from like 07-09. GM's are now back to manufacturing vehicles in North America and Canada. So idk where you get that Duramax is built entirely by japanese when Americans assemble the Duramax engine.
@TheHorefrost What is unknown to most Americans is that the EPA/CARB have no regulations for any of our fuels (gas, diesel, or jetfuel) relating to fuel "quality". In addition, the EPA & CARB are considered "fuel neutral" in their current regulations pretaining to gasoline or diesel, they believe they are the same fuel or at least the regulations say that. The new ULSD #2 diesel fuel is so "poor" in quality, it is illegal to use it in a locomotive (train) in Europe or Asia, let alone a truck.
Ford also mentioned that it was just a software update that gave the increase to their engine, meaning that there were no real engineering type changes to the engine itself. Any consumer can do the same kind of updates from home. It would have been more impressive if Ford had made an engine with the same or smaller displacement as the new Duramax while giving the increased power.
you are sorta... welll.... NOT telling the truth. the ford super duty has 400HP and 800 pound feet of torque. (look at the site your self) the ford also can tow up to 24,400 pounds. the chevy does beat it in payload. ford has 6160 pounds and the chevy has 6635 pounds. go check out their sites for your self. it is clear on which one is better!
@jkguitarfreak95 WOW!! they must have done that recently!!! they were advertising 73X ft/lbs for a long time that bad ass i heard that with a tune u could boost it real easy i guess they did somethin so the dmax wouldnt be on top!!
@jkguitarfreak95 yo dude i went to the ford "bias" website and they was comparing the 2011 super duty vs 2010 chevy and dodge howcome they dont test 2011 vs the other 2011s because the chevy beats the shit out of the simple piece of shit ford...
and you were was looking at ford 4500 superduty if you actually able to read and look for the 3500 vs the other 3500s
@sxlgame im comparing the stats from each site (which are both biased) and right now ford is on top. and when ford did all of those tests in the early part of the year, ford was the only people out with a 2011 truck out. i agree they should go against the other 2011s now. im also looking at what the best that ford offers verses what the best that chevy offers. i think the f450 and the 3500 are comparable cause they are the high end of each company. PM me if you want to continue this conversation
I'm really not sure what the dude below me is talking about ford is having a real comeback I mean watch an autoshow they are doing great and winning awards left and right. I have a Toyota corolla so i don't even have a biased opinion (my last name is ford that's why it's theklford). I am having to drive the corolla until we can afford the get a truck and I'm pretty sure it will be the f 150 cuz they seem to be the best right now
ok all you ford guys i do give you props for standing by ford i do like ford but to those who wont concider that chevy is about to beet ford in trucks dont get all defencive cheyy did take the bail out money and you cant be mad at them for doing so because at least they have something to show how they re invested there money to get the econimy roling again. yes ford didnt take a bail out but now you see more ford dealerships going out of business because they cant compite in the prices.
i don\t understand my dad has a Hino and it makes 293hp and it's a v6 it is great but it can also pull 3 times as much as this but it is about 2 times the size big horsepower does't mean better truck using the horsepower the right ways does
@24fordlover RIGHT! The HP wars are getting ridiculous. Why not keep power the same and shoot for much better mileage? Who the crap is CONSTANTLY pulling 20k lbs and needs to win a drag race? If you do, chip it. It is silly.
all im gonna say is im a ford guy through and through but i give chevy and dodge a round of applause without the compitition between these 3 trucks none of them would be as good as they are today
look at it this way. cummins is a 6 cylinder engine making 650 ft pounds of torque while getting 25 mpg. thats over a 100 ftlbs of touque per cylinder for arguments sake. if cummins had 8 cyclinders ud be lookin 400+ hp and over 800 ftlbs of torque. so cummins is more "powerful" than chevy and ford diesels. i wouldnt want 8 cylinders cause it sucks fuel and honestly 650 ft lbs of torque is plenty to tow around anything you need.
@Blakekx80. wouldnt want 8 cylinders ok i see your thinking. but please dont tell me your one of those morons that dog the duramax and powerstroke because their v8's. people say oh cummins is the best dmax and powerstroke suck because their v8s and diesels were never designed to be in a v8 configuration. OK well guess what the f15 wasnt designed to climb almost vertical, until the f15 was designed to climp almost vertical. shoes werent designed for running, until shoes were designed for running
@bic1457 i have no problem with dmax and powerstroke being 8 cylinders. all im saying is that the inline 6 cummins in the rams have and always will be a bulletproof engine (well at least the 5.9 :P). the 6.7 is a little hit and miss but still more solid than duramax and powerstroke. and u know what cummins will get u to work and back through hell and high water and theres no way yr telling me other wise
@Darkiron5569 I know right...GMs credibility is as good as the old Dodge trannys (not worth a shit) Dodge is best, just not from the 90s GM is the worst since the millennium!
@Blakekx80 you clearly missed the fact that the power output of an engine is dictated mostly in part by displacement and not cylinder count, the duramax makes more power per liter, nobody said the Cummins was a bad engine, but it is outgunned by the D-Max, that's just the way it is. Also the Cummins is not more fuel efficient again cylinder count does not factor in as much as you seem to thing, the only advantage of less cylinders is less drag due to more moving parts in the 8 cyl engine.
@AdamH108TA That's a pretty dumb statement. The early 6.0 had it's problems, but Ford lead the way into the light duty diesels starting with the Powerstroke back in the mid 90's (they ruled for more than a decade). A bigger disaster was GM's conversion of a gas motor to a diesel. As for Ford diesels being a disaster, the 7.3 Powerstroke is arguably the best light truck diesel ever made - fact
@AdamH108TA The lead into Ford's problem/s with their powerstroke was that the 6.0L powerstroke was the first mid-range diesel with an EGR valve, that was originally applied by International Navstar to comply with known 2007 emission standards for vehicles under 12,900GVW, rather than 6,000GVW limit up to 2006 an older. Ford's choice in 2003 was to either invest $M into the 7.3L to comply with '04 standards or take the 6.0L prematurely, they chose the latter.
@AdamH108TA Because of a variety of problems/conditions, the Ford 6.0L powerstroke was susceptible to a number of problems, nearly all related to that EGR valve. Under designed valve, poor owner maintenance, availability of quality fuel, excessive idle time, and a total lack of fuel standard separation between gasoline and diesel fuels by both the EPA and the CARB, not to mention no minimum fuel quality standards by either (EPA or CARB).
@Kevinessequamvideri Yeah, I can't imagine paying that much for a diesel and then expecting to shell out a lot more just to make the engine work like it should.
the main problem cummins has is that stock they cant support a 300+hp tune like the LMM duramaxes and 6.4 powerstrokes can. i think the highest tune for them is low 200s. i may be wrong someone correct me if i am lol
so the looks arent an improvement from the ugly wheels GM has used on its 2500 and 3500 trucks?
yes, yes i realize bigger wheels=bigger brake rotors which=better stopping power. and believe me, as much of a luxury truck as chevys and gmc's are (over ford and dodges anyways), im sure they wanted to improve the looks too
@EasternAggie yea theyre an improvement. but GM has always had more creature comforts than ford or dodge. i drove a dakota the other day and the cup holders were above the glovebox, so you have to reach across the truck to grab a cup. thats a great idea lol . Thank you chrysler!!!!
@godmachine4823, iv seen autotrader mr. joe dirt, i didnt say iv never seen a dmax with over 250,000 its just not a comon thing, i see lots of 7.3s run well over 300,000. look into fleet trucks and see which ones co. keep longer.
@123abcpa yeah first of all they dont even have 7.3s in new models, ive seen some Dmaxs hit the 300k mark but why would you buy a 7.3 and spend around 2k when you can buy a brand new pickup with all the stock power right off the lot and spend 2k dollars and produce at least 100 horses above stock levels with those same accessory's
@zr2chevypickupman, why, because some people need to use there truck for things like snowplowing and off road. sure you can use a gm hd but that is risky, with the ifs (poorly made ifs on top of that) and the sag frame hindering frame hight.
if you want to use a truck for strictly on road and easy use than the gm might work for you, but for people like me we need a truck that can take abuse year after year. and gm no longer makes a truck that can do that.
@123abcpa i believe the new redisgned IFS will hold up better than a SFA in the new 2011 models Its has a higher rating than both dodge and ford heavy duty models and i didnt know fords were any harder to use. I know alot of farmers who abuse the living piss out of their chevys like non other and they have held up for years with well over 215k miles and still have life left to keep on moving. plus with IFS you get a better ride over SFA
@zr2chevypickupman, i like the old chevys and i see alot of those around, but iv seen how the gm ifs hold up and i am not impressed. watch the h2 hummers off road and rockcrawl, its the same front end as the gm trucks and they suck. i dont hate gm's because i own a ford, iv just seen how the new gm's hold up. and i had an 88 chevy truck with a 350 and loved it but the new ones are cars with big trunks.
@123abcpa yeah thats true but i really doubt work trucks need SFA. now Crawling is a different story though. im pretty confident with time the IFS will get stronger the 2011 has a newly resigned and stronger IFS which is should last and take the abuse and thats whats going to have to have ford and dodge switch to IFS
@zr2chevypickupman, if gm could get the front end right and get the frame a little higher off the ground i might even think about haveing one for myself, maby.
to bad gm's trucks dont last aslong as there motors!! have heard alot about chevy motors blowing under extreme loads an boost!!...........nice looking truck tho!!
i love my chevrolet silverado hd's i have a 6,0 and a 6,6 2001 hd's. But i love to get a new one 2011 but how can any one buy them 2011 truck out right the trucks now are costin as much as house. It makes me sick that now you got pay $60,000 for a truck when your done when 10 yrs ago it was ownly $40,000. How can any one buy new trucks today with out having to have the bank own the truck, & make $1500.00 payments a mouth? could some one tell me why because i dont like the cost going up every yr
@Purogto32 ya figure it takes close to 5-6 years for GM to out out a new body style. And im almost sure 2006 was when thy made the new body style that hasnt changed yet. Sooo give iiittt 2 more years and they'll be out with a new one. Cant wait i bet its gonna be sexy lol
lets see japan, europe, ford or dodge make anything like this.
CHEVY IS THE BEST, AN AMERICAN REVOLUTION, AND AMERICAS BEST TRUCK
(if i could make the bow tie i would) CHEVY CHEVY CHEVY!!! TO THE REST OF THE COMPETITION :P lol i laugh at the rest, but i do respect them, bcuz without the rest, chevy would have no 1 to embarrass :D
Base your whole opinion on one truck, now you sound as ignorant as the guy your arguing with.

Be sure and check out "Top of the Line" by Darwin Haack on youtube. He wrote and sang this original song over 20 years ago and we just got my son, Josh Tripplehorn, to put it to video. It's quite good and GM should consider making this the new theme song for the new Chevy Truck. (or even Gm itself) Take a look and tell us what you think.

how does duramax compare to the cummins
toyota420xp 1 year ago
I guess no one has seen the new test results that were done compairing apples to apples, 2011 to 2011, powerstrok vs duramax. Duramax loses in all tests. Couple that with their front drive line that is substandard in all counts. The PSD comes out on top every time. I grew up on chevy but when they changed from a solid axle to independent front suspension, especially on a diesel, I walked away and have kept on walking, call me Forest Gump if you like. We will just have to see how the PSD does.
lawnboy1965 1 year ago
@lawnboy1965 what test are you tlking about?? the one on fords website?? every test i've watched other than ford's own bullshit test they always do....... the powerstroke loses. but hey claim what you want either way ill take the chevy

@lawnboy1965 I heard pretty much the complete opposite as you, but whatever. Honestly, if I could have any of the 2011 big 3 trucks (powerstroke, duramax, cummins) I would be happy as hell. I'm not a brand loyal douche like most.

Class leading...
Ford is at 400HP with 800Ft-Lbs of torque
burns B20
is quieter, pulls the most, and is best on fuel
what class is he talking about exactly?
clintlorisa 1 year ago
@clintlorisa Ford diesel trucks have been the laughing stock of the truck world since the 7.3 was killed. I don't know what world you're living in, but Ford diesels are horrible; go to a country truck pull sometime and see how "class leading" those Ford's really are.
farmerallis 1 year ago 13
@farmerallis How about you go to a pull...
2011, Ford, Chevy, Dodge. You be the judge... I've already driven them all, not only just "watched" some propaganda video. BTW Chev tech of 2 yrs and i have 6.0 and 6.4 Ford experience and know they are crap complared to the 6.6. But Ford's new 6.7 takes it all
clintlorisa 1 year ago
@clintlorisa I've been to countless pulls over the years, and I have never seen a Ford win a truck pull. No, there was one, but it had a 5.9 Cummins in it. The Powerstrokes can barley pull past the 200 ft mark. I have not seen the new 6.7 in action though. They probably are better than the 6.0 and 6.4--it can't get much worse. But I'm not convinced it can compete with the Cummins and Dmax just because of Fords horrible track record with diesel since the 7.3 was killed.
farmerallis 1 year ago
@farmerallis u idiot...the new 2011 ford powerstrokes has the strongest engine out there now...this is the 2010 version
gunking121 1 year ago
@gunking121 Horsepower and torque numbers arent everything. The design, engineering, manufacturing, and parts that go into the engine is what really makes the engine what it is. And frankly, Ford's diesel engineering has sucked over the past decade or so.
farmerallis 1 year ago
@farmerallis ok...torque and power IS everthing buddy....and right now ford is on the top for the strongest diesel pickup truck....dodge in 2nd chevy in 3rd toyota in 4th and so on and so fourth....ford is supirior
gunking121 1 year ago
@gunking121 You really are an idiot. HP and TQ is not NEARLY what determines how much or how well a truck (or anything for that matter) can pull/perform. Take for example farm tractors, the most powerful production tractor puts out 600 HP. Now a diesel pickup can make 600 HP fairly easily with some modifications (except for a Ford), but the tractor can pull a hell of a lot more than that 600 HP truck. You can boast the most power, but is it efficient, reliable, dependable, effective, etc?
farmerallis 1 year ago
@farmerallis no shit sherlock...and btw iam a dodge fan but i love the ford powerstrokes...they are stronger faster and have more pulling power....ford and dodge are better then the chevy just chevy can make really really sexy vehicals
gunking121 1 year ago
@gunking121 I'm not following your logic; mainly because there isn't any behind your argument.
farmerallis 1 year ago
@farmerallis Horsepower and torque determine alot of pulling power. The only reason a tractor can pull more than what a truck can with the same horsepower is because of weight and transmission differences. Hell of a lot more traction. (my family farms 1800 acres and we log :D) Now I do agree with you that Ford has slacked a hell of a lot on engines since the 7.3. The 6.0 all in all was a great idea of an engine, but it couldn't stand the test of a day and you blew gaskets or egr failure.

gunking121 10 months ago
@farmerallis I'm sorry for you're "Country Truck Pulls", but around here, just about every farm truck is a FORD diesel, usually beat to hell, and still running like a champ. Practicality. Simple as that, a Truck pull doesn't show a trucks potential, real use on a farm shows a trucks potential, under real world uses, but I'm not saying any of them are better, Just that American made is the way to go.
MotocrossPenguinPro 7 months ago
@MotocrossPenguinPro It all depends where you're from. Around here Chevy and Dodge run the farms and do the real work. The people that buy Fords are just the ones that pull a 30' boat around for 6 weeks in the summer; they never really put them to work.
"...Just that American made is the way to go." - Agreed, 'nuff said.

BearFlight 1 year ago
In the US, diesel fuel is manufactured by a process called "refractory distillation", but EUD fuel (European Union Diesel) is actually manufactured by a more complex refining process to comply with the stricter EU standards relating to fuel quality. No such standards exist for US diesel fuels. EUD fuel requires a minimum 51 cetane rating (no min standard in US, though US blenders have guaranteed a min 38 C for the engine designers). The EPA allows a max 15ppm sulfur base, EUD is 10ppm max, etc..

yohanz5 1 year ago
@maderman101 @TheHorefrost In 2008, Toyota bought 5.6% of the Japanese Isuzu corporation, specifically their mid-range diesel division.

TheHorefrost 1 year ago
@TheHorefrost The duramax is a isuzu design ( whom is owened by GM) and is manufactured by GM. The Duramax engine came out around 2001 which was when GM was no where near built in japan. GM's were built in japan from like 07-09. GM's are now back to manufacturing vehicles in North America and Canada. So idk where you get that Duramax is built entirely by japanese when Americans assemble the Duramax engine.
BallisticTip270WSM 1 year ago

It would have been more impressive if Ford had made an engine with the same or smaller displacement as the new Duramax while giving the increased power.

look at it this way. cummins is a 6 cylinder engine making 650 ft pounds of torque while getting 25 mpg. thats over a 100 ftlbs of touque per cylinder for arguments sake. if cummins had 8 cyclinders ud be lookin 400+ hp and over 800 ftlbs of torque. so cummins is more "powerful" than chevy and ford diesels. i wouldnt want 8 cylinders cause it sucks fuel and honestly 650 ft lbs of torque is plenty to tow around anything you need.
Blakekx80 1 year ago
@Blakekx80. wouldnt want 8 cylinders ok i see your thinking. but please dont tell me your one of those morons that dog the duramax and powerstroke because their v8's. people say oh cummins is the best dmax and powerstroke suck because their v8s and diesels were never designed to be in a v8 configuration. OK well guess what the f15 wasnt designed to climb almost vertical, until the f15 was designed to climp almost vertical. shoes werent designed for running, until shoes were designed for running
bic1457 1 year ago
@bic1457 i have no problem with dmax and powerstroke being 8 cylinders. all im saying is that the inline 6 cummins in the rams have and always will be a bulletproof engine (well at least the 5.9 :P). the 6.7 is a little hit and miss but still more solid than duramax and powerstroke. and u know what cummins will get u to work and back through hell and high water and theres no way yr telling me other wise

Aonexia 1 year ago
@Blakekx80 you clearly missed the fact that the power output of an engine is dictated mostly in part by displacement and not cylinder count, the duramax makes more power per liter, nobody said the Cummins was a bad engine, but it is outgunned by the D-Max, that's just the way it is. Also the Cummins is not more fuel efficient again cylinder count does not factor in as much as you seem to thing, the only advantage of less cylinders is less drag due to more moving parts in the 8 cyl engine.

AdamH108TA 1 year ago
@AdamH108TA That's a pretty dumb statement. The early 6.0 had it's problems, but Ford lead the way into the light duty diesels starting with the Powerstroke back in the mid 90's (they ruled for more than a decade). A bigger disaster was GM's conversion of a gas motor to a diesel. As for Ford diesels being a disaster, the 7.3 Powerstroke is arguably the best light truck diesel ever made - fact
flcracker9 1 year ago
@AdamH108TA The lead into Ford's problem/s with their powerstroke was that the 6.0L powerstroke was the first mid-range diesel with an EGR valve, that was originally applied by International Navstar to comply with known 2007 emission standards for vehicles under 12,900GVW, rather than 6,000GVW limit up to 2006 an older. Ford's choice in 2003 was to either invest $M into the 7.3L to comply with '04 standards or take the 6.0L prematurely, they chose the latter.
BearFlight 1 year ago
@AdamH108TA Because of a variety of problems/conditions, the Ford 6.0L powerstroke was susceptible to a number of problems, nearly all related to that EGR valve. Under designed valve, poor owner maintenance, availability of quality fuel, excessive idle time, and a total lack of fuel standard separation between gasoline and diesel fuels by both the EPA and the CARB, not to mention no minimum fuel quality standards by either (EPA or CARB).
BearFlight 1 year ago

@123abcpa yeah first of all they dont even have 7.3s in new models, ive seen some Dmaxs hit the 300k mark but why would you buy a 7.3 and spend around 2k when you can buy a brand new pickup with all the stock power right off the lot and spend 2k dollars and produce at least 100 horses above stock levels with those same accessory's
zr2chevypickupman 1 year ago

I know alot of farmers who abuse the living piss out of their chevys like non other and they have held up for years with well over 215k miles and still have life left to keep on moving. plus with IFS you get a better ride over SFA
zr2chevypickupman 1 year ago
@zr2chevypickupman, i like the old chevys and i see alot of those around, but iv seen how the gm ifs hold up and i am not impressed. watch the h2 hummers off road and rockcrawl, its the same front end as the gm trucks and they suck. i dont hate gm's because i own a ford, iv just seen how the new gm's hold up. and i had an 88 chevy truck with a 350 and loved it but the new ones are cars with big trunks.
123abcpa 1 year ago
@123abcpa yeah thats true but i really doubt work trucks need SFA. now Crawling is a different story though. im pretty confident with time the IFS will get stronger the 2011 has a newly resigned and stronger IFS which is should last and take the abuse and thats whats going to have to have ford and dodge switch to IFS
zr2chevypickupman 1 year ago
@zr2chevypickupman, if gm could get the front end right and get the frame a little higher off the ground i might even think about haveing one for myself, maby.
123abcpa 1 year ago
@123abcpa i agree on the ride hight. the new pickups sit so low
zr2chevypickupman 1 year ago
@zr2chevypickupman
I agree 100% I am glad i'm not the only one who thinks that.

@ohiorancher24 well the thing is these trucks are work horses and are for the person who would save money with one of these pickups.
