  • Hey Rick whts the name of this song in the beging of the video?

And whear can i get it?

  • @OKnight1Roger I've put the details in the notes area :o)

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry, forgot about the main thing: an inflatable boat and fishing-rods with spade to catch worms, at least ;-) Why else are we to travel? ;) Have a nice travel!

  • Can't understand why everybody builds a kitchen on board? Are you going to move from your house to live permanently in your bus??? Toilet, shower, kitchen... are those all you really need in your travel? You need bed to sleep well transformable to a sofa for rest and a table to use a notebook PC witm mobile internet ))) or a satellite TV, you need matches and grill to make fire to cook, you need roll of toilet paper, a pack of food provision and fuel to get back home )))))) IMHO )))

  • nice lino!

  • amazing now come to the states and make me one in my high top conversion van

  • Wow, big difference from the first version.Looks like a commercial built camper van Very professional and classy.Just wondering tho if white was a good choice as you ae are a surfer and are around sand, water and dirt? Not critisizing, just wondering.

  • Nice work. Ever run it across a commercial truck scale and find out how much everything weighs?

  • @Whitehorze no - it's one of those things I've pondered on doing, but never really followed up on.

  • Hey Rick What is this song?

  • The Argau Camping Toasters would be a great accessory

  • nice van.....

  • Comment removed

  • @rickvanman ow ok then nice me trying ;) can i ask how much that track cost

  • @JJSFREETIME can't remember - i think it was from a package on eBay that cost £39

  • Whats the floor made of? does it aid in stopping the transfer of static?

  • @Godbrother can't say static has ever been an issue. its standard kitchen Lino on top of plywood.

  • Well don Rick, We've enjoyed you videos. Very inspiring! Keep us posted on your tours :)

  • great job bud im thnking of making my own van really inspierd by you thanks for sharing love your van

  • @855h0le Caps? (probably from ebay),

pump make = whale - self primimg.

Same type of pump for shower & sink, but 2 seperate pumps.

  • somebody likes leatherette too much

  • beautiful work. how do u manage interior temperature in the summer?

  • @Cantabilest open a window/door, or sweat a lot! :o)

  • @rickvanman haha as i thought... not easy to work around that..

  • love the all white look, very "Cribs" -esque haha

  • I might need some help with mine, are you for hire?

  • presumably you have battteries for the electrics, but how are they charged?

  • @Paddyo11 from the main engine via a zig unit.

  • the speakers look like they might get kicked when you get in/out

  • @AxenZoku had no problams so far.

  • @rickvanman knock on wood

  • Hi. great videos Rick. I have just bought a second hand master swb lo roof. i am converting to camper and i really like the shower option so i think i'll include that but what are you using to heat the water?, Did you mount the waste tank underneath? thanks for vids, you've done a really nice job on that.

  • @arndy26 Hi - the master vans are fab - I'd have another one without hesitation. The water is heated in the kettle (no installed hot water system) I've managed just fine without one.

Waste tanks are mounted beneath just behind the rear axle. see my video titled "SELF-BUILD MOTORHOME 1 - SHOWER CONSTRUCTION" It'll talk you through it.

    cheers.

  • i like the old look better just not a fan of all the white

  • is there going to be a part 3?

  • @JortvV click the annotation link at the end (top right corner) it takes you to a tour of the finished van.

  • I just looked back at your earler vids and have to say I liked it better before your going to spend the rest of your life wipeing finger prints off the van now but hay ho its just an opinion and no you didn't ask me for it before you say so I do apol if your anoyed

  • No probs - opinions are good! I agree, but the old design got really dirty quickly and because it was cloth, it couldn't be cleaned easily and got wet and smelly whenever I sat down in a wet suit . The new arrangement is much easier to keep clean and wipe down, and is water resistant too - perfect for the beach. :o)

  • it ugly now

  • the materials attracted a lot of dirt. I wanted something that would be wipe-clean :o)

  • rick U did not insulated wheels fenders.

  • Excelent Rick!!

  • that looks so much more modern than the last one fantastic work rick

  • Great Job, Rick!

I hope You can enjoy your van very often

    Jens

  • may you forgot to late us see ur MOTORHOME from out ,then if you could Explain wher you will sleep and show the Bed place plz

  • may i ask wart the song is its a nice track and i love the van seen 1 2 3 parts nice!!!

  • Hi . track is called Urban Dreams - royalty free from RoyaltyFreeTunes

  • how did you fix the plywood to the actual van??

  • via the brace ribs in the inside of the van. used self-drilling screws - got to be careful not to drill through the side /roof of the van though!

  • what a great vid and a fantastic converstion well done, question, how much did the leatherete cost?

  • Thanks. it was about £150 for a 25m roll (eBay)

  • Great videos!

I've been looking at various designs for a couple weeks and been coming up with my own ideal design...and what you have achieved with yours is just what I want!! You've inspired me, and I can't wait to begin mine in the new year!

  • Oh yeh, is this van around the same dimensions as a SWB transit Van? I was planning on the mid height roof version...

  • I honestly couldn't tell you - some research on the web should reveal the numbers.

  • Hi rick, realy liked your videos!!! The last one is missing ;-) I wanted to ask you some questions if I may. How did you drain the shower? did you attach the seat belts so they will be held securely and if yes how is it done? I am thinking of making a conversion myself, but with the taller version. btw, why didn't you buy the taller version? can you stand in your shower? waiting to look at the end product ... Thanks, Zohar
  • Hi.

The shower drains via a standard plughole that bends 90 degrees and runs into the waste tanks along a pipe.

No rear seat belts are attached (MOT nightmare getting them right).

Taller is good, but can't get under height barriers.

    I didn't make a part 3 - but made a tour video

(click the link in the notes area)

  • @Zoharfi

    Hi,

Thanks a lot rick for the fast response!

I saw your birthday party, a realy nice family you have.

If I understand right, the shower floor is raised to fit the pipe underneath, right?

I do not know where the note area is, can you give me a link to your "tour" video.

    Thanks again,

    Zohar

  • I've sent you a private message with a link.

No the floor is not raised, it is the same height as the rest od the van.

The "notes area" of the video is the bit of text in the upper-right hand corner - where information about the video is. (you have to click the blue text where it says "(more info)"

    .

  • @Zoharfi

    Hi rick,

Thanks for the private message, i'm watching the video in a moment.

I did not understand how you put the drain of the shower without lifting the shower floor for all the plumbing down there, can you please elaborate?

I'm writing this not in private because I think other people thinking about converting their van might find this helpfull.

Thanks a lot and sorry for the bother...

  • Hi again, no probs

No complicated plumbing involved, just a simple drain that goes directly through the van floor, then bends 90degrees underneath.

It then goes into a flexible waste pipe that makes its way back into the waste tanks.

I made a "shower tray" by cutting a square of floor lino and bending the edges up to form a tray shape.

I used bathroom sealer in the corners to seal the tray.

I then used floor lino on the walls that run into the tray arrangement.

    hope this is clearer.

  • @rickvanman

Thanks Rick, now everything is clear!

I'll be starting my conversion shortly :-)

just need to find a car, I think about a fiat ducato.....

  • Great job! I'm currently working on my van interior and you've given me some good ideas. Very nice.. I like the cream interior.

  • Nice.

If you're a single guy, a single guy with an unambitious wife, or just a guy who likes to pick up hookers, this thing is perfect!

  • with the way the world economy is going this is a good way to at least have a home and not be homeless.. This vid is superb i love it !!!

  • Wow the Van looks very nice! Great job!!

  • Where did you source the little plastic screw cover pop caps, Rick? I was hoping it would be a store in the UK. I like to pop into Wickes, Homebase etc if possible rather than waiting around for mail order or internet sites ;-)

  • found em on eBay :o)

  • I had another look around Wickes and got some. Not quite as good as yours as the caps are separate and not on little ties, but otherwise they should do!

  • Qualith work dude, looks really good devils in the detail, you can tell youve worked hard. Keep the vids coming cheers

  • Looks awesome! I love how you did the headlining box with the lighting in it.

  • cheers :o)

  • This is so cool! It looks very classy!

  • thanks :o)

  • I love this video; so helpful. And it has given me a ton of ideas for my own motorhome conversion on the MWB Vauxhall Movano... which I think is a Renault Master with a different badge!

I particularly like the ideas for the foam/leatherette paneling finish and also the blue lighting idea which looks very cool. I'm thinking the paneling would be easy to remove and recover if a panel got damaged and also easy to clean as well as being warm, I'm sure to be using this method in many areas.

  • Glad it helped. yes we have practically the same van - except yours is taller.

Yes the panels are practical and thin (lightweight) as all the structural strength is in the skelton framework that they attach to.

Be sure to check out the SBMCC online forums for a ton of practical advice.

    Rick

  • hey great stuff looking forward to the next installment

do you have any information on the sigg / zig? stig? the electric pluming in made easy

    tnx

  • just type 'zig unit' into google and you'll get all your answers.

  • Hi Rick. I want to convert a vw t4 but i'm having trouble finding where to buy the sink and hob without the unit as i'm going to build that myself. can you help?

  • check out the SBMCC (self build motor caravaners club) forums and website - they have a comprehensive list of suppliers and information that you will find invaluable.

    Rick.

  • Hi Rick. Just bought a medium wheelbase Master to convert. Then yesterday saw your 2 vids on conversion. Excellent space saving ideas. Thanks for putting them on.

  • Glad to help - good luck with the conversion - be sure to post a video or two on how it goes

    Rick.

  • Looks much better than the original. I am thinking about starting a camper van project myself. Nice work!

  • Hi Rick,

Here in the states, I'm considering a retrofitting a Honda Element. Nice and square, plenty of headroom! Should be able to not be too expensive. About how many pounds did that cost you?? (est.)

  • hi, i rekon about £3000 from van to camper

  • btw, rick, i think you're a cool, geniune guy. thanks for posting your other videos. what do you do for a living? you must be doing well to afford these side projects. i'm here in the U.S. and i wish there were more guys like you here.

  • Thanks :o) - I'm a self employed printer and entrepreneur. Actually it's a lack of funds that bring about the creation of these projects!

  • hey rick, i'm self employed and an entrepreneur as well, imagine that. i'm working on several projects but i'm also going through the same problems of getting investors and funds. one project i'm working on is a anti graffiti business with a partner of mine. graffiti is a big problem here in the states, i'm sure it's the same everywhere. i also started a branding company where i come up with concepts and ideas and partner up with companies. i hope we can talk more mate.

  • You need to get yourself over to my success and positive thinking YouTube channel: "The Honest Guys", where me and a mate are looking to start an entreprenurial mastermind group based on "law of attraction" - if you haven't already, read "Think and grow rich" by Napoleon Hill, it'll tell you everything you need to know about becoming successful and about becoming a millionaire.

  • thanks rick, do you have an email where we can keep in touch? i like your think tank idea. i've got a lot of ideas as well. i also have general questions about how to get started with doing my own video, post production software, etc.

  • best place to contact me is through "The Honest Guys" channel.

  • cheerio,

hey rick, i'm thinking about doing my van as well. what do you think about the bathroom in the rear of the van?

  • Good move. In my next project i am going for bathroom and bunk beds at the rear.

  • Wow looks realyl good. Looks even more roomy than before.

  • Wizard little van.

    Howdy from the Mojave.

  • Again, nice work. I love that lighting soffit.

Did you put in dual batteries and an isolator?

  • Twin deep-cycle leisure batteries, plus the main engine battery. The Zig unit takes care of the connecting (no isolator needed)

  • Hey Rick, when's the Part 3 coming online?

    Cheers.

  • Hi. I never got around to making a part 3 - but if you look at my video called "RICKS' BIRTHDAY. IN A FIELD BY THE SEA" you will see the finished thing.

  • Should of still put it up because it was only for a glance of it

  • hey dude congrats on your new home; it's always nice to see human beings pursuing their dreams and bringing their creations into the world :) Now how do you attach the woodwork to the van?? About the creamish look: personally I would try a black surface, maybe the table or sink board. The idea of putting on a picture is also kewl. Anywayz keep up the good work and thank you for the inspiration!

  • this van is one of the coolest vans i've ever seen

  • Great work! I am an avid woodworker and thought about it but my budget dosen't allow at the time.

  • wow...that's nice...Now mine looks all shabby! I'm off to purchase plywood and Leatherette! Two Thumbs Up from TheOldDude

  • nice idea with the leatherette looks clean and smooth but ok only a matter of taste

    greets from germany

  • Too much cream leatherette for my liking.

  • What song is this, please?

  • It's one of his self written pieces. You can find it on his website. Free.

  • Nice work dude!

  • I reckon the whole thing is ingenious of course. The lino flooring a much better idea than carpet, especially in the summer with us dudes getting changed in there, all wet after surfing/swimming!!!!

    Must try it out soon!

A trip down the coast is in order on a fine day soon.

    ;-)

  • Looking good. Some of those tiny directional blue LED lights under the cupboards and pointing at the wall where you plan to put a picture would look fantastic against the cream.

I hope your wall picture will be carry your printshop site address :-) People are definitely going to want to see inside that thing when you go out and about in it.

    Very nice...

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I installed blue neon lighting under the worksurface edge and below the overhead cupboards yesterday and it looks awesome. Great idea for the printshop logo on the picture. I will definately include that if I do a picture.

    cheers

    Rick

  • Free ads are good ads! :-) You'll get plenty of heads peeking around that door, I'm sure.

    Don't forget the fire extinguisher!

  • looks really good. Clever man!

  • can you was out the floor realy easily, like just sparing watter down on it, or are there things down there?

  • with lino down, sweeping and mopping the floor should not be a problem (like it was with carpet), but I would use water sparingly.

  • Very interesting how to video! It's looks like it's coming along nicely. I can hardly wait to see it when it's finished!

  • Thanks!

  • OMG! It look great! :)
