I agree without Solid Snake or the Big Boss this game series has run its course. Its not that that upsets me the most, but that they are not going to be keeping the core gameplay we have always come to love from the MG series. I can't tell you how many hours of sneaking around and watching out for patrols I had to do. It was frustrating, and sometimes I just wanted to pull my hair out when I got caught, but when you finally sneak around the enemy or dispatched them it was a satisfying feeling.
They are only making this game to show us what happened to Raiden after 2 and before 4. Snake will be back this is just something to fill the cap still Snake gets in shape again.

@OhGodNo666 Eh stupid weeaboos like this are why stories get ruined. Kojima made MGS1 the way it was made, so it would appeal to western gamers. What he didn't take into account until MGS2 though, was the huge weeaboo explosion which was going on in the west at that time, and tried to refit the series with a new character so it would sell better.
I wish people would stop calling Kojima a genius, he goes through the same marketing decisions as a company selling soap flakes.

Snake is pretty much the key to Kojima's success in my opinion. It doesn't matter how well you write a game, you MUST include a strongly written lead character, there is no debating that.

Imo Metal Gear Solid 3 was still the best but even thought this new game might take a change of direction im open to it because Hideo Kojima is still a badass director and Konami makes some really good games. The only thing I was disappointed in was not recreating the first Metal Gear Solid on the PS3. I dont understand why they would do it for the Nintendo Gamecube and not on the awesome quality graphics PS3 offers.
A lot of people look down on this game before it's been released, due to the fact that Snake, Solid or Naked, will not feature in the game, and to that end, perhaps the stealth will be gone...and I don't think so. In every MGS title trailer they show action, and each game has it's moments...but Raiden can crawl on walls and ceilings...and hasn't the series always been up to how you play? If you want stealth, you'll get it. IT's why we all like the series, no? The ability to play your way.
I started playing on nintendo i played all the games as they came out best series ever. was really sad when it sort of ended with mgs4 was such a amazing story behind every game . this game shoudl be cool at least its part of the story that you never heard even though gameplay with different.
@TheAmerican97 Story is what the MGS series is all about, if you don't follow the story you're not getting the whole picture. I would seriously put those 20 games aside for now and get the HD collection. Absolutely worth it.

I don't even know why they used the MGS name on this game? Snake is out and that its the series is dead. Raiden is from MGS but this is a totally different development team and game style I call this Ninja Raiden.
Although just a strong rumor. they are supposedly remaking Metal Gear Solid 1.
They alluded to this when the HD collection didn't have MGS1 in it...but that's a given since it was a PSX (PS1) game. I have the older triple collection and I played MGS1 on my MGS4 Edition PS3 with backwards compatability.
Lets just say the graphics are more than just pixelated, they are just pixels.

Metal Gear will no longer have the nostalgia feeling of " Tactical Espionage Action" so to me it ended with MGS4. This new game with ride dick (riden) has a new title of "Lighting Bolt Action" for this installment. good bye solid snake its been a fun expirence for the last 20yrs.

Now we can hunt stealthly and slice them to pieces (if we so choose) I don't care if you play it but the best thing about "Sons of Liberty" is the introduction of Raiden especially when he received his HF Blade.

@iamwarwick But the comparison still remains. Snake is pretty impressive, but what is he compared to this? It compromises the validity of the entire MGS series. I'm not sure they want that right now, especially with MGS HD Collection out recently.
@iamwarwick Kojima had plans on making MGS6 and then scrapped it, he then later opened up to the posibility of another Metal Gear game one which continues with the the flow of the main story line but introducing a new hero (this is pretty much all we know so far) he said it's all ideas atm but the project is underway however nothing is set in stone in terms of scenery/flow of time and even characters and plot.
@Jameslawz MGS:R(5) is just a side story which Konami's side staff are working to fill in the gaps and will act as a filler to some of the plot holes in the story line along with other upcoming side MGS games (also possibly featuring Raiden?) so MGS5 will take us through Raiden and his transformation and how became to be in MGS4, not so much a prequel but a plot filler.
Man how long has it been since they announced this game?2009? After standing and saluting MGS4 after I beat it there was a single tear in my eye knowing that the saga was over and the epic story I waited for, finally finished about 10 or so years later I thought id see the end of MGS, until they announced this at E3. I always wondered what happened to Raiden after MGS2 and after seeing him in MGS4 I was like wtf happened to him he's like the cyborg ninja, again I must wait an eternity.

I agree without Solid Snake or the Big Boss this game series has run its course. Imo Metal Gear Solid 3 was still the best but even thought this new game might take a change of direction im open to it because Hideo Kojima is still a badass director and Konami makes some really good games. The only thing I was disappointed in was not recreating the first Metal Gear Solid on the PS3. I dont understand why they would do it for the Nintendo Gamecube and not on the awesome quality graphics PS3 offers.

A lot of people look down on this game before it's been released, due to the fact that Snake, Solid or Naked, will not feature in the game, and to that end, perhaps the stealth will be gone...and I don't think so. In every MGS title trailer they show action, and each game has it's moments...but Raiden can crawl on walls and ceilings...and hasn't the series always been up to how you play? If you want stealth, you'll get it. IT's why we all like the series, no? The ability to play your way.

I started playing on nintendo i played all the games as they came out best series ever. was really sad when it sort of ended with mgs4 was such a amazing story behind every game . this game shoudl be cool at least its part of the story that you never heard even though gameplay with different.

@TheAmerican97 Story is what the MGS series is all about, if you don't follow the story you're not getting the whole picture. I would seriously put those 20 games aside for now and get the HD collection. Absolutely worth it.

I don't even know why they used the MGS name on this game? Snake is out and that its the series is dead. Raiden is from MGS but this is a totally different development team and game style I call this Ninja Raiden.

Although just a strong rumor. they are supposedly remaking Metal Gear Solid 1.
They alluded to this when the HD collection didn't have MGS1 in it...but that's a given since it was a PSX (PS1) game. I have the older triple collection and I played MGS1 on my MGS4 Edition PS3 with backwards compatability.
Lets just say the graphics are more than just pixelated, they are just pixels.

I doubt theyre guna remake mgs1 at all, thats just stupid because they already have the twin snakes game which is mgs1 remade with 21st century graphics, but this game was on gamecube, the most they would do is remake it in HD n put it on the ps3/xbox.

Metal Gear will no longer have the nostalgia feeling of " Tactical Espionage Action" so to me it ended with MGS4. This new game with ride dick (riden) has a new title of "Lighting Bolt Action" for this installment. good bye solid snake its been a fun expirence for the last 20yrs.

Oh nothing really just that maybe it would be good to play as Snake too, know what happened to him too. Because it might have been explained, but gamers are relatively "visual" people and want to see the progression of Snake being a young bad ass into a grumpy old fuck with a mustache. SO maybe we'll get to play as Snake who the fuck knows. Don't judge YET.

@pierresimon2 okay first off Kojima mocked Raiden constantly on MGS 3 as Volcan's homo bitch. Second The inspiration for Raiden was from a Questionaire that a japanese highschool girl took, which then kojima expressed regret. Now in MGS4 the only way to save that reputation was to model him after Gray Fox the Original Cyborg Ninja. Thats my problem, so sorry (sarcasm) If i have some doubts about him.

Now we can hunt stealthly and slice them to pieces (if we so choose) I don't care if you play it but the best thing about "Sons of Liberty" is the introduction of Raiden especially when he received his HF Blade.

@iamwarwick Kojima had plans on making MGS6 and then scrapped it, he then later opened up to the posibility of another Metal Gear game one which continues with the the flow of the main story line but introducing a new hero (this is pretty much all we know so far) he said it's all ideas atm but the project is underway however nothing is set in stone in terms of scenery/flow of time and even characters and plot.

@Jameslawz MGS:R(5) is just a side story which Konami's side staff are working to fill in the gaps and will act as a filler to some of the plot holes in the story line along with other upcoming side MGS games (also possibly featuring Raiden?) so MGS5 will take us through Raiden and his transformation and how became to be in MGS4, not so much a prequel but a plot filler.

Man how long has it been since they announced this game?2009? After standing and saluting MGS4 after I beat it there was a single tear in my eye knowing that the saga was over and the epic story I waited for, finally finished about 10 or so years later I thought id see the end of MGS, until they announced this at E3. I always wondered what happened to Raiden after MGS2 and after seeing him in MGS4 I was like wtf happened to him he's like the cyborg ninja, again I must wait an eternity.
